I KNOW it's a long one...but I love the instrumental break so much...I thought I'd go a little crazy...hope you enjoy it!
That’s my late husband, Philly Bassist and hall of fame, inductee “Jimmie Williams” on bass he developed the concept for this song, (It was stolen from him) he wrote and recorded the bass line…May he (RIP) 🥰🙏🏾🌹🕊
All I can say is your late husband made a significant contribution to this song and others...I'm sure,this song right here,is an all-time hit because no matter how old it gets,it still gets constantly played everyday, every week, throughout the country and the world beyond,thank you.
Ma'am with due respect to your late husband, I don't think it was "stolen". Mr. Jimmie Williams inspired/appreciated the sound and playing technique to all the bass players of the world. That's why your husband is remembered and inducted in the hall of fame.

McFadden is my father. I sure never heard of that. I guess there's still enough people still around to fact check that. I know for a fact that my father never stole anything from any other musician. I was there when this song came about in the basement of our home when we were children. I'm not saying he didn't create the bass line, I'm just saying who are you saying stole it? I know McFadden & Whitehead surely did not respectfully. May they all rest in peace.

Another absolute anthem, you know how to pick 'em! Personally , I love the Philly sound, having a band wrapped in strings and brass is just class, heavenly. Extending these awesome songs is magnificent, especially when you add in instrumental breaks - the quality of the musicianship was nothing short of fabulous. You have identified the main problem with songs - they are all too short!
