Auto Repair Guys hi I have situations in my Elantra 2013 GLS. WHEN CAR ITS ON D, example I am waiting for Red Light car move and shakes, rpm moves up and down its self .car look like want to drive its self, so now this think happening on P and N.no engine light shows what should I do thanks
I love you guys. You're great. I have a '13 elantra and prefer to do a lot of my own work. I'm so grateful for people like you who take the time to share knowledge. Sharing is caring! Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
So After Watching This Very Informative Video I Tried Replacing My Ignition Coils On My 2013 Hyundai Elantra. In The Process I Broke One Of Those Grey Pieces And Deeply Regretted It. So If Anyone Is Trying This Be Very Gentle While Sliding That Piece Out. I Had To Do This Process Twice Due To Breaking The Piece And Not Completely Sliding the Coils On And Putting The Screws On Too Tight. So This 10 Minute Job Took Me Two Hours To Do 😩🤦🏾♀️ Thank You So Much For This Video !! Also If The Check Engine Light Is On After This Process, Unscrew The Negative Connection On Your Battery For 2-3 Minutes. Place It Back On And Screw It And Everything Should Clear Up If Everything Has Been Fixed Unless You Have More Issues With Your Car
@@robindelosreyes9769Yes, I believe so. The grey piece helps secure the wiring connection to the ignition coil . If not secured properly, your car check engine light may remain on after reset or your car may not start. I’m no mechanic though but that’s what happened to me.
What did you do if you did break the grey connection latch.. 😅 I just broke the second could latch.. man he wasn’t kidding when he said they were fragile.. is there a part you can link to fix that?
My 2013 sometimes will not start while it's cranking, but then it will start once I try it again right after the 1st try. Is this my ignition coil or it is the fuel pump or filter?
I was out of town and a mechanic charged me $352 for this,!! I'm so upset... Never again! This is why women and people in general don't trust mechanics .I want to learn how to do my own mechanic work im tired of being railroaded
I'm about to change mine out. Autozone said it's only my 3rd coil that needs replacing so my question is do I need to disconnect the battery so I don't get shocked or what? I'm scared LOLOL
I just changed my spark plugs and did not disconnect the battery or remove the wires from the ignition coil and my car still runs, Please explain why this is necessary because I'll do it next time.
So you push towards the ignition coil with screw driver like then pull ?? So i assume on clip it has something to be pushed in so it gets out of whole then pull?? is that right?
I would leave your car run over night and if the rat returns the shock from the coil should fry his ars..then definitely put on a new one don't try to use electrical tape or something or will only be a short term band aid
I have replaced all 4 ignition coils and spark plugs on my GFs 2012 Hyundai Elantra twice now. Everytime I replace them they are good for about a year, I feel like they should be lasting longer than a year? Has anyone else noticed that they are replacing them this often and if so have you found any reasons as to why they are wearing out so quickly? The car only has 180,000 miles on it.
how to find the bad one? I have a misfire and big power loss when engine is hot. errors are c1555 p0300 p0301 p0303... I play and swap the coils and the plugs, now I have also a p0304... The blinking engine light I had before, now is still on. I test resistance (set to 2kohm) on the two coils pins and I mesured 0 for all 4 coils. there is another test for the coils? My sparks was new and I put the old ones and nothing change. Maybe is another problem. Thank you
Tron80 I’m having the same issue with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra. I replaced all of the spark plugs and ignition coils and I’m getting the same codes as you. May you please let me know if you find a solution to this problem?
Well ??? I hope you got it by now ??? 1 ( or more ) of the coils are bad and/or . . . 1 ( or more ) of the spark plugs are bad or not gapped to 0.044in. ? and/or 1 ( or more ) of the wiring harness connections were damaged and are no longer making good contact. Did you disconnect the harness from each coil pack or stretch them off??? If so . . . Did you break any of they gray tabs ??? They recommend replacing the harness even after doing just plugs because load resistance can build up within them over time And the tabs become egg shell brittle and easily broken. I have 2 broken tabs on my 2013 LTD 1.8L myself without any ill effects. Looking to swap my harness with an OEM. I have had 92k mi. without any problems And I will continue this way for another 100K as long as I can keep the dealers hands . . . off of my car.
If you take it to the dealership you will be paying about 2500 just for that piece.. because they (dealership) will tell you that they have to replace the whole engine wire harness... which is bs 🙄 But if you want to do it the cheapest way... go to eBay and look for extension wire ignition coil and remove the connector and Jerry rig it
anyone know where I can get 2014 Hyundai Elantra Sport 2.0L ignition coil wiring harness or ignition wiring connectors? Mine got brittle and broke when I changed my plugs. Thanks
I'm having an issue where my car clicks like a dead battery. I try two more times and the car starts. I tested the battery and alternator both tested good. How would I know if it's a fuel issue, ignition issue, starter issue or some module or relay? There isn't any check engine lights on so no codes to look for. Also once I'm driving it if I turn off the car it turns back over with no issues. The issue with the car only happens when it sits for a few hours.

as long as you fully seat the connector into the coil you wont have issues@@robindelosreyes9769

Thanks for the top tip on the clips. Also I'll add it's never a bad idea to disconnect the battery when working on anything electrical on the car.
Any particular brand of coils you recommend for a 2017 Elantra? What’s a good price to pay for purchasing the coils?
I have a 2013 Elantra that keeps misfiring even after I changed out my spark plugs. Ill try this. Thanks for the video
Update: Changed the Ignition Coils and the misfire stopped!!!! So happy for this video.
that was my question. I'm glad you asked it
My misfire stopped as well after changing the 2nd coil. Woohoo
That's Exactly What's Going On With My 2013 Elantra. I'm About To Try It Out .
@@yolandagomez9255 hey my 2 coil is misfiring too. You think the 2nd coil is just faulty on Hyundai’s?
Thank you! I changed all four ignition coils on my car.
Hey never worked on a car before but I’m having this problem . Do you recommend what tools I should go pick up ?
These videos have helped me fix my Elantra thanks so much for the information guys!
Very easy to follow tutorial. Great job!
Yur video is the only one that explain the location on the cylinder numbers thank you 🙏 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
I cannot 100% confirm but I believe coil #1 is always the closest to the belts. 😌
Thank u I just changed my coils appreciate u 🔥💯 love from Oakland ca
Does the broken Gray clip prevent it from working? Mine just snapped

What test did you ask for at Auto Zone for them to determine which coil it was?
@@tynylbarnes4283 you can ask them to use their code reader, and the code reader will tell you which coil is misfiring
Haha, if you haven't figured it out already
Yes, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before starting work.
I bought coils for Hyundai elantra 2015 and it has tucson on it can it use
I'm guessing coil #2 might be a common fail because that's the one i need, too.
What kind of wrench do I need to use?
Are spectra ignition coils good ?
I replaced cylinder 3 and those tabs break so easy
Excellent work guys, and easy to follow
Great video! Thank you so much for the information. That saved me a lot of time and money.
Thank you for the video. It was a big help.
Please make a video about manual transmission, mine makes a sound on 3th gear, I don't know what to do.
Thank you

Awesome. Really appreciate this video
P0302 Code: Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected what can be? All 4 coils and spark plugs were replaced, after few months car started to fail again
Local auto parts store. $60 for 1 coil. Amazon. $30 for a set of 4.
What size is the bolt that holds the ignition coils?
10mm
U forgot to maintain the most important thing is to disconnect the battery dude
I just changed my spark plugs and did not disconnect the battery or remove the wires from the ignition coil and my car still runs, Please explain why this is necessary because I'll do it next time.
@Kansas Geoff you don't have to disconnect the battery because you won't get shocked.
Thank you so much for this!!!
U not remove battery terminal first?
So you push towards the ignition coil with screw driver like then pull ?? So i assume on clip it has something to be pushed in so it gets out of whole then pull?? is that right?
No ans. ???
It's a simple electric clip not hard to figure out and you don't even really need a screw driver if you have strong hands
