    'Foreshadowing' You're brilliant!! I have a 2009 with 6 coils = 4 have been replaced. Just yesterday, we get the misfire.....so, I guess it's russian roulette for me!

      Feels bad...
      I am guessing you realize you shoulda got all 6. The guy who owned my 2008 Accent before me had replaced 1 or 3 of them before selling it to me and I ended up having to replace all 4 a year and a half later.
      6 mo after that now I just got a cylinder 2 misfire and trying to figure out if it is from these or something else. Had an intermittent rough idle and sometimes thows that p0302 dtc.
      F***ing annoying sh** 😂
      Good luck brother.

    2002 Hyundai accent replaced battery spark plugs and o2 sensors and still getting misfires thinking ignition coils may be next. Only misfires while not in park and idling. Fine driving on highway or higher rpm’s

    Hi, I have a 2001 accent with a misfire, I checked the wire and the plugs, they seem to be fine. However, in the ignition coil set, the number two is developing a spark outside the coil and I can see it when the car is running. Should I have to change the ignition coil set or is it something minor? Ta

      @GregWellwood  2 года назад +1

      You could just replace the offending coil, that would be cheapest. But if one is bad, the others might not be far behind.

    Where are the close ups of your “puller” and what was it that you “pulled “ to release the spark plug wire? I failed my ESP class in High School and College 🤷

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  2 года назад

      Couldn't remember if I had to squeeze the coil wire connection clip, or lift it. You squeeze it. No tool required.

    • @thegreatgambini3
      @thegreatgambini3 2 года назад

      I've had to do this replacement several times over the years. There's a little tab sticking out perpendicular to the connector that you can pull out with needle-nose pliers, which is what I did about 20 minutes ago

    My clips are broken that plug into the coils. How can I remove to replace the coils?

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  9 месяцев назад

      Not sure without seeing them. Usually when they break, they no longer stay connected to the coils.

    THIS is what my mechanic charged me $250 in labor for? 😅

    • @GregWellwood

      The problem with doing work yourself, is not that you SAVE money, but that you end up fixing MORE things.

      @glenburns4232 9 месяцев назад

      No the mechanic charged 250.00 cause he knew what was wrong and how to fix it.

    • @NyQuilDonut
      @NyQuilDonut 6 месяцев назад

      @@glenburns4232 No duh lol. That's not the point. The point is that mechanics are charging too much for labor for something that takes maybe 10 minutes at most, and isn't hard to do at all. You can do any car repair yourself if you have the space, the tools, and the skills necessary, but a lot of people don't. That doesn't make it ok for them to charge outrageous prices just because you could do it yourself.

    I have the same car , I just replace the coils it’s still misfiring and when Ever I stop the car goes off it will start back up but it’s going off what it hits 0 mph

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  Год назад

      Quitting when you come to a stop doesn't scream "coils" to me - there's something else going on that deserves further investigation.

      I would always try replacing the spark plugs first, it’s the cheaper option.

    • @darinw.3580
      @darinw.3580 Год назад

      My assumption if its quitting at idle and has no DTCs thrown up would be related to intake (such as intake gasket or maybe a vacuum leak but those have some codes that can be thrown.) As well as maybe a plugged fuel filter/pump dying.
      But yeah i agree with the guy above me, check them spark plugs first since it may just be functional enough to avoid throwing a code.

      I have a 2006...need to maintain alternator voltage above 12 volts at idle...ECU needs 12 volts to keep engine running or will shut off engine!

    How do you tell it's misfiring?

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  2 года назад +1

      Mine "stumbled" frequently at idle but only with the AC on. It also seemed to slightly lean-surge on the highway, but most people wouldn't notice this.

    • @GregWellwood
      @GregWellwood  2 года назад +1

      If I understand your question correctly, the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 from the front pulleys towards the transmission. Cylinder #1 is closest to the pulleys, cylinder #4 is furthest. The order of cylinder firing is: 1-3-4-2.
