Very interesting! Is this essentially running lots of sends to a single instance of a tape machine or just displaying differently? In other words, is this saving on CPU power by running one tape machine plugin rather than a plugin for every track in your session?
Good question. How this actually works under the hood, I'm not 100% sure. In past versions of the Studer A800 plugin, there was a 'gang controls' option, so you would add a tape machine to each track in your DAW individually, and then switch on gang controls so that any changes you made would control all of the plugins globally. I have a feeling that the tape extensions work in a similar way as opposed to running multiple sends to a single instance, but I could be wrong about that. I need to do some more investigating.
Thank you!...Im using the free Luna and im thinking of getting tgis take machine..... however it shows that its only Apollo compatible and not native and i dont have UAD gear... Please advise
@@mixinglessons Hey...that's true,,however i can't seem to purchase the Ampex tape machine without having any gear.... right now I can also seem to run it within Luna...but in demo,I can't purchase it fully off the UAD site as it's not Native .....am I Missing something!?
@@derrickmusisi6089 Hey - that's strange, as when I visit Universal Audio's site, there doesn't seem to be anything preventing me from purchasing it, and I also don't own any UA hardware.

Dude is doing a better job than UAD at explaining the inner workings of this DAW. Love it! This is much appreciated. Thank you!
Thank you very much 😄

Hey, thanks for your comment. Everything in this vid is running without UA hardware. I hope that helps.
