@@Memjahmin I've gotten 5 stacks on 5 killers so far. Doc(multiple times. But to be fair, Plaything on Doc means you do not hear him coming, also, its really easy to interrupt people from cleansing totems from a distance). Freddy (once, was a lucky mix of having oppressive hexes and a tome challenge, could do it again I think). Myers (I dont know how I did it either). Pig (honestly quite easy to do, save 1-2 traps for when you want to rekindle totems). And finally, Trapper (look at the route, slap a trap on the first totem you rekindle and that basically gives you a timer to finish your route). It's not always hard, because all you need is 1 survivor having Inner Strength to basically guarantee your 5 stacks, and while Plaything is nice, its also weak to anyone bringing a Boon perk (you'd be surprised how often you encounter one).

Pentimento is a top tier perk because it lets you slow down the progress of gens, healing, clensing and opening exit gates while the survivors are healing by the exit
Most fun game of DBD I have ever had was when I ran Small Game and Counterforce and just so happened to get a person running Pentimento. I cleansed 9 totems that match and it was insane how fast cleansing the 9th one was
I was obsessed with this challenge for a while. The best build is PlayThing, Penti, Devour, Undying. I've gotten 5 stacks, 2 times. And once before I also had that heartbreaking moment at 4 stacks. So happy to see Otz do this challenge
I mean the perk works fine with 1 or 2 stacks. The whole thing with blocking the totems isnt its main effect rather than a punishment for survivors trying to ignore it.
Oh yes it does work often. When I play surv, random "teammates" always cleanse frealing plaything despite its being the most useless hex and only exist for pentimento. 98% of plaything users also get the pentimento and its stupidly obvious every time. So stupidly obvious, it drives me crazy it even works. Well, seems like its not obvious for my "teammates". Haven't got a SINGLE game against plaything where survivors would completely ignore that
Nah the perk is always good if pair with a perk that incentivizes destroying totems. You give ALL survivors a massive 30% decrease to repair speed with just a SINGLE rekindled totem active. There are 5 totems on the map. You can get crazy slow down with this perk.
That first attempt made me die a little inside, lol. That was brutal timing. I recently got 5 stacks on a match on Hawkins playing The Pig. I was running an all-Hex build with Penti, Plaything (a must for the build), Thrill of the Hunt, and Face the Darkness. Usually lighting that first totem to get the slowdown speed stops a chance at 5 stacks, but the match went well enough that I had been waiting to do that, and eventually -- thanks to some good luck (and someone doing a dull totem early in the match, IIRC), I got the full 5 for only the 2nd or 3rd time since the perk was released (all by happenstance). It's definitely a great feeling -- you could tell by your reaction! Congrats!
gotta say i love the billy buff for 2 reasons, he's pretty fun to go against, and now those killer spots eaten up by stealth killers are now partly billys, allowing me to finally use wiretap without 7/10 killers being undetectable 90% of the time
Counterforce is one of my favorite perks, and I wish pentimento was more popular. I went against a chucky with a hex build on rpd and at some point in mid game both of us were just running around cleaning totems and relighting them, it was very funny
If only you've have had just a fraction of a second more. Just a slight change of positioning on one of the early totems so that you didn't waste any time at all lighting them before moving on. Such a shame. At least people are now cleansing Plaything again. Back when Pentimento first came out a lot of Killer players were running Plaything and Pentimento together to try and get the latter to work so a lot of the Survivors I was playing against just stopped cleansing Plaything and dealt with it. Meanwhile I was running Plaything so each Survivor would have a Hex Totem to cleanse for the Bloodpoints so I was upset that people were not cleansing for the BP. 15:16 Otz already forgot he was BEGGING the other Survivors tp unhook Ace. Happy you finally got it. Thanks for the video Otz.
The best time to do this challenge is right about when a tome releases that has a "cleanse 20 totems" challenge. Survivors are gonna be cleansing even dull totems and they can be rekindled and you can just wait until all 5 are available to rekindle to do this.
Dude the best way to make that perk work is to show the community a crazy silly build that makes you look like a hacker. Lucky break, lucky star, overcome, inner strength. Break totem, get smacked, run to break line of sight, entire closest locker or run to further locker, slow enter.
I feel like the satisfaction of getting a full pentimento is like getting progression on really tough raid bosses in WoW back in the day. Just the overall feeling of "LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO" lol
The trick with pentimento is to wait to cash it out. I run a Hex build on Nemesis and I usually wait till like 3 totems have been cleansed before start relighting them. It buys you a lot of time when they have a lot to cleanse after having already spent time cleansing those same totems.
An alternate way you might have a shot a 5 Pentimento is if you run Shattered Hope against a group of survivors that stubbornly keeps creating Boons that you destroy. It’s still a long shot obviously but could be fun to try if or when Boons become a popular in the meta somehow.
Pentimento + Plaything has been my go-to combo for the last couple weeks. Guess the cats out of the bag, now! Couple it with Friends Til The End and it's basically GG for survs once you get rolling.
I actually did this for fun for quite a while. I would do this on Dredge, running Plaything (Preferably tier 1 to make the totems more visible), Devour Hope to scare survivors into doing totems, or at the very least easily lets me change tactics to killing everyone if people ignore totems completely. Third perk is Shattered Hope to break boons, and the fourth perk is a slowdown of your choice. I would play the game until all 5 totems were broken, then I would wait until nightfall before teleporting around the map to set up all 5 totems. If I got to this point, success was pretty assured unless a survivor immediately worked on the first totem I rekindled. I was very upset when the update came out that automatically upgraded my Plaything to tier 3 for all my killers. I tried contacting BHVR support to revert my levels on Pinhead, but they couldn't do that, so I'll need to make a new account to get the full meme build back.
I remember being able to get it when pentimento was still pretty new! It was a wonderful Meg of course who helped me because she was focused on vaporizing every totem she saw😂 not sure if she was new or doing challenges

I still remember back when pentimento first released and halfway through Otz talking about how it’s impossible to get naturally. He realised all 5 totems were down
I swear the one time I had a match on the game where I knew the killer was trying to set up the 5 stack penti and I had a boon perk to counter the using hex plaything, I could not find my own totem or anyone else's in time after spending the whole match searching everywhere for it. Then someone else found it and broke it. I was never more upset at myself and my team in my life.
Hello! Was inspired by your video and did 5 stacks of Pentimento on the Slinger with Plaything, Devour hope and Undying. Thank you for the idea, that was very funny!
I've actually done this challenge before! I find the easiest way to go about it is to use Dredge's nightfall to go around the map and spark up your items once they've cleansed all five, with the perks being ruin, plaything, penti, and deadlock.
No idea why, but this reminds me of a Blight game i played awhile back. I cant remember why, but i was running Shattered Hope on Blight. Im pretty sure thats what it was called, the perk that makes you destroy totems if they are booned. I found one of the survivors and chased them away before destroying their boon. As soon as they realized i was running shattered hope, the guy DC'd LMAO.
From my experience, by the time you get to the point where you are getting 5 stacks of penti, the game is already won or lost. Which looks like the same case here
Funny thing is i actually started playing this kind of build before the release of this video, but people prob won't believe me. Plague with pentimento, plaything, any other kind of hex (preferably something that the survivors HAVE to destroy, i usually go with crowd control) and thana for the slowdown. getting all 5 totems is a nice bonus, but i usually just start using pentimento when there's 3-2 gens remaining.that sweet sweet 30% gen slowdown combined with 20% slowdown from survivors not using fountains makes it very hard for them to escape. If they don't do the totems, they don't hear me coming, if they use fountain, i get that sweet sweet red puke, if they do the totems, they get a big slowdown, if they don't fountain, they get slowed down on gens... I called this build the "doomed if you do, doomed if you don't", or as one survivor once said to me at the end of a game "plague mains going out of their way to make the most obnoxious, unfun build possible".
The problem with Pentimento is that if you play for 5 stacks, the game's practically over already when you get it. either all but one gen is done (by which point Penti won't help much), or you already have 8 hook states (when you don't need Penti to win).
its kinna like a "win more" situation where when its actually useful (3-4 gens left), you should be already hard winning if you can pull it off and it doesnt matter having or not, so in the end its a bad perk with really good effect that nobody want to use.
@@sophrosynes6392 oh, no. I'm not denying that. It's great for gen slowdown if you just light them whenever one's available. I'm just saying that holding out for 5 at once is rarely useful
Yeah I think it's actually pretty good as it is, it's meant as a passive gen slowdown but has the potential to do more, most of the time it will just be gen slowdown but in certain situations it is more valuable.
Otz, you knowing Eric Rosen makes so much sense now because now I know for a fact you know Gotham. I always say you both are the same but for different games. The idea behind the content is similar and all that. The way you interact with fans. Now it’s not a theory anymore
I did it with Trapper with self resetting traps, Thrill of the Hunt and the Boon destroying perk. This was back when Circle of Healing wasn't nerfed. Something similar to your first video almost happened, except right when she was about to get my totem, the bear trap opened on her.
I got five stacks once as Pig of Dead Dawg. It was actually quite funny as I hooked everyone back to back and was finally going to do my first and second Pentamento stack off one Plaything and my Retribution. I got inturrepted by having to chase off a survivor who was using a medkit, then right as I relit the first Pentamento, all three of the remaining Playthings popped simultaneously. Im pretty sure if it wasn't for that survivor healing delaying the first totem, I would have never gotten it. I was never so giddy before or sonce in a game of DbD as I was lighting up all those totems. It is now my screenshot for the game when I go to boot it up on Steam.
My biggest fear playing this game is me giving my best as a survivor and the killer playing me like a pawn in chess. Thinking you're smart while they're enjoying watching you digging your own grave... it hits different 😂
The same thing happend to me once, but instead of 4-3-4, it was 4-5-4, and the remaining 4 totems were blocked. I think I have a screenshot of it but I need to search it
I did this with singularity by running the "gaslight into fearing the totems" build Basically I ran face the darkness, undying, thrill of the hunt and pentimento I set up cams onto all the totems and survivors immediately began to cleanse them because they we're afraid that I had an actually dangerous totem mixed in and I was actually trying to protect them At two gens left they cleansed all my totems, I used the overclock speed add on to zoom around the map, plant my totems and stalled out until everyone was dead
This has been my go-build for the last month or two. When it works, it really works. But sometimes if survivors ignore the plaything hex’s or cleanse the hex’s early on in the game it can be useless.
I use sadako and dredge for this and it’s semi consistent. Nightfall makes the lighting fast, and sadako can do it fast with all tvs while applying various amounts of condemn
A fun challenge I came up with for my friend was using Rancor and Nemesis, she had to cycle the obsession to every survivor once, then come back to the original obsession and kill them with rancor. She got close to succeeding a few times, but it was hard!
Congrats on getting 5 stacks it's an achievement of itself. Thank god there's no Steam achievement or tome challenge for getting 5 stacks in one game. Only gotten 5 stacks myself once with Legion, can't remember the build i used though.
Wow, how utterly devestating. Like literally on the last couple of frames... NGL, I would have been so frustrated that I slugged and bleed them all out. Lol. But you are the better man.
I did this challenge by myself without really considering it a challenge. Used Oni (one of my favorite killers) and made the basic combo of Plaything and Pentimento and some other two non hex perks. I controlled the match well with the single purpose of triggering 5 pentimento. It was a very fun experience, the moment i saw that all totems were broken, i demon dashed to each one of them and boom, challenge completed. (1 gen remaining, 2 survivors dead)
Survivors see the pentimento "cloud" when they cleanse any totem, so, going for 5 is extremely unreliable like how first game showed: If no pentimento in a few cleanses - the killer is going for 5 stacks.
had a game yesterday where the heighest prestige in the lobby spent 9 minutes breaking hooks opening chests and cleansing dull totems . little did we know the ARTIST we were going against had pentimento . by the time nightmare teammate finally touched a gen every totem was blocked and 2 ppl were dead (we did not escape)
i have a really good pentimento build with Pig. thrill of the hunt (slows down cleansing), face the darkness (screams interrupt actions), plaything (bait to cleanse totems) an of course pentimento. once 5 totems are cleansed, i go around reviving all 5 totems at the same time to avoid losing any. combined with the headtraps and you have a massively annoying time waster build that survivors can rarely escape from.
I got 5 stacks randomly once on The Game, someone was cleansing all the dull totems for reasons unknown and I got them all in a row. So funny.
Same, the first time I got 5 stacks was due to sheer luck as well. I thought I'd never do it again.

Well pentimento is a great slowdown with the generator speed at one stack, so that's all you really need tbh
It’s absolutely a ‘win more’ perk but it’s probably useful in those games where the 5 totems are somehow cleansed already without setup from plaything
Otz, you knowing Eric Rosen makes so much sense now because now I know for a fact you know Gotham. I always say you both are the same but for different games. The idea behind the content is similar and all that. The way you interact with fans. Now it’s not a theory anymore
wow dude unbelievable. what a hilariously timed cleanse
Bloodlust is a crazy concept. Punished for being good when the killer is already faster than you lol
Alternate title: Otz wins a match by putting a bunch of work into getting survivors to cleanse totems
I like this style of video a lot more than your usual gameplay videos
I did it with Trapper with self resetting traps, Thrill of the Hunt and the Boon destroying perk. This was back when Circle of Healing wasn't nerfed. Something similar to your first video almost happened, except right when she was about to get my totem, the bear trap opened on her.
“Hello friends, this is otz, as long as undying stays up”
I got five stacks once as Pig of Dead Dawg.
Idky but i love seeing Otz happy. It makes me happy. Love u Otz❤️
I think I have a screenshot of it but I need to search it
Found it
I did this with singularity by running the "gaslight into fearing the totems" build
Basically I ran face the darkness, undying, thrill of the hunt and pentimento
I set up cams onto all the totems and survivors immediately began to cleanse them because they we're afraid that I had an actually dangerous totem mixed in and I was actually trying to protect them
At two gens left they cleansed all my totems, I used the overclock speed add on to zoom around the map, plant my totems and stalled out until everyone was dead
“borrowed off the endurance time!” my favorite perk!
This has been my go-build for the last month or two. When it works, it really works. But sometimes if survivors ignore the plaything hex’s or cleanse the hex’s early on in the game it can be useless.
> survivors have no incentives to break totems, let alone all five of them
Laughs in NOED. When NOED is lit, they HAVE to cleanse it or be killed.
Probably not going for it cuz it’s too late-game
99% of the time they just leave if NOED is there though
"Oh no my ruin"
That was so great, only thing is Eric Rosen is an International master not a Grand master
Really didn't expect to see an Eric Rosen reference in this video. Good taste.
You have to work so hard to get the perk to work at full capacity. But it's worth it, in the end. All the work pays off.
I got this today as Oni ! Took me 43 tries lol , it felt so so good
for how difficult it is to get survivors to cleanse 5 totems, then run across the entire map and light them up, the payoff is so awful.
Immediate like at the Erin Rosen reference. I mean, Otz content is almost always a like, but that's what sold me this time
I use sadako and dredge for this and it’s semi consistent. Nightfall makes the lighting fast, and sadako can do it fast with all tvs while applying various amounts of condemn
Watch this, Lis. You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half! 9:51
Getting all 5 stacks should olay a sound effect imo
To let the survivors know theyre screwed
Having 5 stacks of Pentimento feels like having all 5 parts of Exodia in your hand, even if its effect is far from giving you victory
Plaything and pentimento go together swimmingly.
Hey otz! RUclips Andy here! I definetly enjoyed this! I hope you make more "Dumbest challenges" :D
