Legion is the BEST user of Alien Instinct! | Dead by Daylight

- Alien Instinct is the third and least popular perk from the Xenomorph. There's not a lot of Killers that can get value from it, but Legion stands out as being perhaps the strongest and most consistent user of this perk.

It's getting ridiculously common for my solo queue team mates to give up after getting downed once. It's both nice and awful to know that it's not just teammates in my games doing that.
It's really frustratingly selfish imo. Like ok, you're not having a fun time. I get it, but why ruin the game for everyone else? You give up on hook and now 3 survs are left to do 4 gens. The game is out of reach at that point. These people should just play a different game if they are going to cry after getting downed, smh.
Survivors have been getting narcissistic lately and abandoning every chance they get. They need to put in something to combat this behavior
@@gabelachenman408 the worst is when you're trying to climb to iri 1 survivor in solo Q. It took me over 430 hours to reach it, and I only did it with SWF because I needed 15+ minute games to get the pips, but teammates dying on first hook or sub 3 minute games, or teammates letting you die on first hook is a minus pip.
I very recently started playing again after 4ish years of not touching the game, and seriously what is it with survivors just giving up BEFORE even being downed?? All I can try to do is play for hatch, but almost every other match my survivor teamates just walk into the killer or stand afk at hooks :(
Otz making mistakes on purpose so survivors don't give up what a wholesome man!
It’s more indicative of how self-entitled most survivors are. The fact you have to throw the game early to keep them playing is embarrassing for them.
@@goblinedI think it's more indicative of poor matchmaking.
I really didn't make mistakes on purpose but even on some of the matches where Survivors did just fine, they STILL made baffling plays or gave up right away. You really cannot win sometimes, some people are just bent on not playing the game normally no matter what happens.

I think the duration on the aura read should be increased to 7 seconds, because it can be deceptively difficult to pick out one aura in 5 seconds
Honestly, make it 10 just so it has a reason to be used over BBQ...
@@cookiecreep92047 or 8 would be fine. 10 would be nice but a bit overkill imo
@@DrawtheCurtains It is very conditional though, and it has short oblivious, for how far the furthest survivor can be... So it definitely needs more.
All in all, a bit more time across the map isn't too awful.
Alien Instinct needs a buff in aura time, meanwhile Ultimate Weapon NEEDS a nerf in cooldown.
It really doesn't help that a lot of the time the furthest person away will be on a gen which obscures the aura even more. Should be something like a sound notification instead
I faced a legion with a whole Obliviousness build with Hysteria, Alien Instinct, Plaything + Etched Ruler addon and it was actually scary. My corn blindness didnt help me too
The corn blinders are the real killer.
Yeah Legion allows the use of some really unusual perks, which makes it sometimes quite interesting.
Yeah I have a build like that with legion as well. It's a lot of fun but hell to run against
Hysteria
Plaything
Alien Instinct
Discordance
Stealth on non stealth is great.
Yeah I remember playing against one on gideon meat plant. It was brutal
First match: Starts.
5 hit Frenzy: Happens.
Beautiful. Just a perfect moment of Legion gameplay; going zoom and stabbing people.
Under right conditions/survivors legion is and can be a MONSTER some people say he is bad but in the right hands he really is not
I've got my 4-man basement with Trapper faster than 5-hit frenzy with Legion. But how cool it felt when I did, lol.
Another piece of info Alien Instinct gives, for example at 3:25 when all survivors are injured and you can see the furthest survivors aura, you can use that info to determine where other survivors are based on distance. Since the other 2 have to be closer than the highlighted one it can rule out a lot of places they can be.
In this example, since Otz hooked them near the edge of the map, and the survivor is in the middle of main, you can cross out much more area since they most likely wont be on the map edges.
I can see that this perk can be used proactively and purposely hook survivors closer to map edges to rule out more area, since if you use this in the center of the map that information is less helpful. This function does depend on just how close the highlighted survivor is too. as if they are on the opposite corner of the map it doesnt help much, but if they are pretty close that gives a lot
Real otz is in Mexico examining the alien remainings
lmfao
I gave this perk a chance yesterday with Sloppy on Dredge and I played against 2 distortions and barely got any value from it. IMO it's a really good tunnel perk. You hook 1 survivor, chase another and by the time you hook another one, the first hooked maybe didn't already get healed and you can chase them and reset heal with Sloppy
Yes, the unfortunate reality for many Killers (even Dredge!) is that Off the Record / Distortion can often completely nullify the aura reading part of this perk. With Legion, ideally you'll have many more chances to use it and maybe even burn through their Distortion tokens.
Instead of agitation, try Monitor and Abuse!
@@notOtzdarvaif you get a good momentum with wraith you can get really good usage out of this perk and probably burn through all of their distortion tokens. But there’s a massive counter to distortion being that alien locker perk. I found out that even while I’m in a locker it made me scream so I lost a match because of that.
Bro gave sloppy to sledge
@@TractorKid45 🗿
The Plague is also very good with this perk.
I main her and it’s not bad, it’s just that oblivious and undetectable don’t work great on her. She’s very tall with a lot of particle effects, and her power and footsteps make a lot of noise. You want to force them to cleanse too, so many times it doesn’t even do anything. It’s not bad on her, but it’s not really worth it to burn a map offering for it to work well when there’s better perks for that on her that are also universal.
I play vommy mommy as my slug killer, so I don't use any of that lol
@@leiah6514 this is a decent way to force cleanse.
but good players just wont cleanse
I swear survivors are giving up at insane rates. Crazy days for killers recently.
Getting wrecked by a Legion certainly doesn't help. I'm sure that immediately dips morale.
@@Hibernapemayhaps. But people give up after 1 down, it's wild
@@HibernapeWell sorry if I have to say it, but if survivors complain about Legion, a strong killer that in high mmr is the worst killer in the game, then they are really pushing the limit of dignity
@@Hibernapegetting wrecked in general dips morale. I feel like most people who have such drastic losses which makes them irritable and puts them in a defeatist mindset.
They like playing the victim, in game and irl
Aura reading being red (on players) and generator auras also being in red is such a strange choice. So many times I've not been able to see survivors because it's just red on red lol
I love events that change the Aura colors just for this reason
It's kinda funny how when a survivor sacrifices themselves on hook, Otz nonchalantly says that they killed themselves, it startles me whenever I am just barely listening in sometimes 😂
I can't see Hunk without imagining the Jazz Hands neck snap from RE4R Mercenaries
I've used this perk a couple of times on Wraith. It's so nice with the hit and run play style.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one struggling with survivors giving up. It’s really annoying to try and just play someone like Knight or Pinhead only to have people instantly give up. Idk how but I hope something is changed
Nothing can change. This is a game that will never be balanced. Not because the devs are bad, but that it’s just not something that can be achieved with a game like this. And when people play to have fun and then aren’t having fun, they just give up. That’s the nature of entertainment, which this is at the end of the day. I’m not sure there’s any change they could make to incentivize people to continue playing the game once they stop having fun. It’s also a rule that I’ve learned through many multiplayer games in that if you decide to give up, the opposing side will usually take it easy. In this game, it’s very often that if a single survivor gives up and the match is so clearly lopsided then the killer will just let the remaining survivors have fun.
stop running perks that are so unfun that people would rather stop playing than continue the match
Kill them and report them (there's a category dedicated specifically to people refusing to play the game, and now reports are being taken more seriously so it could get them a warning or a ban).
I bet they don't just bitch because of Pinhead or Knight, they probably have an excuse for every killer, every map, add-on, you name it... this game will never be 100% balanced, and if they can't accept that, they should go and play a different game instead of crying and begging to be hooked cause their ego can't take the loss, or that the current game doesn't align with what *they* think is fun.
Maybe get rid of dc penalty and mates will get a bot instead of 3v1 at 5 gens.
@@SirRippingtonEsquireSo it's literally either get bullied by survivors or do the bullying.
I like to use this perk on Oni. Even though sometimes they heal super fast and I don't get any value, when it does activate it just shows me where to go to get blood fury back. Has seriously helped me out on alot of games, and the extra stealth just makes it even better for him.
@2:18 made me smile. body blockers are amazing people and have great understanding of the game but seeing them get downed off a legion frenzy made me smile
I used alien instinct on my artist with the thorny nest so the heals would take longer and it was quite nice as well!
I like that we got some actually useable perks with this chapter
Maybe making survivor auras blue would make seeing them from distances easier?
Been having a lot of fun using this perk with dark devotion as well! You can follow up on hooks so fast and the survivors can barely tell where you are. Found this build a few days ago myself, great video!
Been a big believer in the friendship bracelet ever since the rework, the add-on is absurd! Coup on every frenzy attack!! I remember Blood Echo also used to be a staple on Legion, to counter old DH which was bruuuutal back in the day. Alien Instinct seems like a really, really cool new piece of tech for Legion, especially with the information it can provide you! The oblivious is also really nice, since Legion is a surprisingly quiet killer without terror radius? Thank you for the video!!
“Hello friends, this is Otz…at least that’s who my therapist says has the wheel.”
I like this perk because it encourages going away from the hook and rewards you for doing so. More perks like these should exist to promote healthy gameplay.
great video actually i didn't really know any killers who would have a use for Alien instinct besides plague and huntress for insane cross map shots (mby u can make an interesting build with that as well) but il be definitely making an interesting build for legion after this video thanks for the idea bro
i love using this on dredge because it mixes well with his nightfall build-up, and his fast method teleportation to survivors who might be on gens, although you do have to worry about lockers
I love these new perks just because of the art, the first one is the iconic aliens kill, the second one is the running animation that the xeno has in aliens isolation, and the third is that goofy scream from the first aliens movie
As a p66 legion Main, I approve giving attention to legion! Thank you mr streamer for giving me an idea for a funny build!
bro agreed without even watching
@@nintendryan1355dude, I use almost the same build, except I use fearmonger instead of alien instinct. I play legion every day, I think my opinion is valid enough to understand how the perks work on the killer I constantly play
legion is so bad idk how you can play them over and over. against decent survivors you are m1 killer
@@nodforkiss that’s the fun part! I don’t care if I lose, I play for the fun! And I already have depression, nothing can stop me…
This perk is great on killers that can move extremely quick like alien themselves, and id imagine demo, onryo or even freddy, you can teleport extremely close to someone and if you aint in line of sight they have almost no warning
Otz, love you clips✨❤️. IMO, survivors can run calm spirit which counters all screams
Your build is really cool! It looks almost identical to mine, except I use fearmonger instead of alien instinct
we are being blessed with videos today! love the content, keep up the good work Otz
Ive been using that on Legion since Alien dropped. Super useful can create huge snowballs in your favor. Sometimes the injured person is like 10 meters away!
I tried it, every injured person was clear on otherside of map. Got 2k lol. Going back to my default legion build. Pop, eruption, pain resonance and fearmonger with pills and sketch. Have yet to lose a match with this build.
More Legion content? Yay! It's like Nina's favorite killer and everything! More Legion please!
I love all of your vids and vods. Keep it up =D
The green pin addon 100% helps as survivors who mend get the broken status
this plus blood echo & other anti healing perks might be a bit overkill but still
Another perk ive found that works semi well with legion would Leverage, that might work well with this build inplace of a perk
This is also a great perk to combo with Forced Penance when up against a group you know will be a team on comms. People who try and take a hit to extend a chase against a weak target will now find themselves open to a relatively easy down.
Would love to see a similar build with Devour!
Question, what happens when you hit a survivor with endurance during frenzy does your deep wounds apply so you can hit another survivor or does endurance’s deep wounds apply making you hit them twice
Alien Instinct is also handy for checking on all injured survivors since it will always go for the FURTHEST survivor. So if the furthest is relatively close to you and there's other injured survivors, that means that there's likely other injured survivors right next to you. Not often this will come up but it's something important to note. Info like that's probably a little more relevant when using this perk on Plague.
Perhaps Plague can use this perk effictively. That and any killer while using Sloppy Butcher, or add-ons the give the mangled/hemorrhage. Nice video, man! :)
yay an otzdarva legion video! I havent seen one of these since I stopped playing in... 2021! :D
I have find that pain ress and jolt on legion makes survivors give up, used that with lethal and all my matches end at 4 gens with 5 hooks and they give up
tbh pain ress is the strongest cooldown in the game still (after "nerf"). on soloQ this perk decreases strongly chances to escape
@@anettelma123 It's practically a 6th generator survivors need to repair, and if it starts proccing early when survivors are trying to get rid of vital gens in the middle of the map it's nearly impossible to recover from
Awesome to see someone else with this style.
Otz!!! 😳😳
Try this variation
Alien Instinct
Hex: Plaything
Hysteria
Discordance
Adds
Suzie's mix tape
Etched Ruler
Everyone gets some oblivious and with the extra range when they spread out or discordance if they're together.
I think it should either keep the current numbers, but show the CLOSEST injured survivor, or buff the numbers and show the furthest like now.
I've been singing the praise of blood echo on legion to my friends for ages, glad to see it finally synergize with another perk so well!
Hey "Otz", do you have a link to that study in the field of psychology you mentioned? I'd love to give it a read, for no particular reason of course.
I would love to see you play this on plague too, I feel like it could work well
At 2:20 is so relatable otz. “A Soul for a soul”
I feel like this would be great on the plague too! Will have to experiment...
13:15 oh damn, he almost hooked himself 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, I can see a style of play where this is actually viable. Whereas other blood echo/hook builds require you to sacrifice chase/down potentials, you can really use the information here to be a lethal threat. If you can use frenzy duration addons to ensure you can reach injured survivors from far away or fatigue addons to make the down take less time. You could maybe use the fuming mixtape as well to determine whether or not chasing the oblivious survivor or protecting gens will give you more value
wow the last time I played legion I had alien instinct equipped and my god it helped so much.
I feeel the same way about survivors giving up about killers feels like everytime I do well against a killer they fuck off to a corner and afk.
The main problem is the length, even with lethal pursuer it’s not a long time, so low mobility killers with a similar injury based ability like plague can’t get there in time, adding length similar or greater then bbq would make it more viable on certain killers
They should make this perk work with other aura perks by making the aura a different color. Then you could run say barbecue and chili and also Alien Instinct, or maybe some niche example, you run grim embrace and it makes it easier to tell who is the injured farthest and who is the obsession.
I like alien instinct on xenomorph/demogorgon as you can teleport to that person if they're near a gen/ portal
So i agree, if you put on the mangled addon and then use the perk leverage, you can make it near impossible for the survivor you picked up with alien instinct to heal themselves. Watching them struggle is fun.
Another killer this would be good on is plague, as you're not only always having them injured, but also broken, meaning you'll always have their aura, and when you don't you'll have your injuring power
I've been running Dead Man's Switch, Ultimate Weapon, Save the Best For Last and Rapid Brutality on Legion lately - didn't really think to try Alien Instinct ngl
Me Personally I love the Legion Pin addon that makes them broken so it prevents them from healing and The filthy blade so that also extends the time they're injured so I can find people way easier since they're all injured! My personal prefrence of course though!
Something cool about this perk is if only one person is injured, It can be any distance and will be shown
"He almost hooked himself there"
Love this quote lol
I like alien instint in the twins too, is good to know where i must send the Victor after hook someone
I play it in alien, combine it with hex: devour hope and it's a nice build to get sway from the hook
I’ve been using this perk on plague and having some decent value as well
Its also scary on sadako. When they are oblivious and you are not in stealth they don't get the luliby
The intros just keep getting better and better, makes me laugh every time. :)
9:30 oh, I though only NOED gave survs hemorrhoids. The more you know
this would also work quite well on plague because if you've got people infected they'll be broken and so forced to stay injured
Alien Instinct is actually a bit of the inverse of BBQ.
With BBQ you want to hook a bit away so the effect triggers and you can see people.
With Alien Instinct however the injured person can be 15m away and get detected, so you usually want to hook in the middle of the map so you're always close to your target, if you hook in corners like the first game you'll just see someone at the other side of the map and that does nothing for you...
Can you come up with the build by using this perk on the Plage? I think this will be pretty good on her.
I use this build, but I use the legion pin to keep them broken, and I replace pain Res with forced penance or shadowborn (due to cope for no fov slider”
I don’t know if broken count as injured, but this might be good with the plague if you can infect a few people, and then chase one
BBQ & Chili reveals all Survivors' auras, but only outside of 60 (I)/50 (II)/40 (III) Meters, making it good for Killers with high mobility (Nurse, Dredge, Xenomorph, etc.). Alien Instinct reveals only the furthest-away injured Survivor, but at any range (near or far) making it good for Killers forcing Survivors into staying injured via Exposed, Broken, or insta-downs. Legion just so happens to be in *BOTH* categories.
I could image that this perk is good on killer that can go over the whole map too.
Dredge or Sadako for example.
Finally. The Otz Study was made public.
This will be a fine addition to my Jumpscare Plague
Why does it feel like the footage is prerecorded and voiced on? 11:23 his hand is up but his mouse whips to the side to hook the survivor, what’s up with that, otz?
why agitation over iron grasp ? just curious, in my mind, iron grasp should give you a higher chance to reach a far away hook, no ?
Otzdarva: omg legion is the perfect user of this perk
Dredge: observe
Plague can make use of it pretty well too, plaything is just better though in general
I think another perk/add on to grant Oblivious would improve the build. Because Alien Instinct inflicts Oblivious on hook, good survivors will know you have this perk and will leave the area as soon as you are about to get hook, or counter by hiding in lockers.
Another thing is that Legion already excels at getting information with his basekit, so aura-readings are generally superfluous on him. And of course, oblivious status actually counters his power; as we saw in that last match, you were able to see the aura of the farthest survivor but at the cost of not using Legion's power all too much.
I enjoyed the video as always
I'd still rake bbq over this any day. Unlike with other aura perks, the survivors affected by alien instinct will know you have this perk immediately due to getting oblivious right after a hook, so if they pay attention they should be prepared for you coming to them.
And once you know you can also just jump into a locker to avoid it, because you know you only have to worry about it if you're injured
Killers this perk works well for, Xenomorph, Dredge, Legion, Artist, Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, and Onryu. Also demo dog if you have them.
I've been using this many times on plague and getting such value
What are the lore implications of hunk using alien instinct? Do Umbrella corp have access to xenomorph genes?
How did you down the feng at the beginning? After hitting her once with ff
i use alien instinct, hysteria, deathbound and infectious fright on hunk skin lesion i basically always know where everyon is and keep them injured the whole game
You can probably say the same for plague that she can be good with this perk also, but mostly any Injuring base killers that can be good with this perk
i swear to god everytime otz makes a video like this i get nothing but killers running this exact build or something very similar. ive gone against so many legions today running this lmao
Retardva is the real reason dead by daylight is unpleasant and unplayable, both for survivors and killers
10:48 i think the reason you didnt see makela's aura when you hooked ace is because the furthest survivor was david, but he wasnt injured so the perk did nothing. just a guess
Maybe is only me but i feel like this perk is really good in sadako using some perks to make healing annoying and the add on that makes survivors condem when they heal
That chase music tho
Surprised you did a Legion vid and not Plague with this perk.
I saw Bronx do a video on this but the perk seemed to work even when only one person was injured?
My favorite Alien Instinct build is Blight!
Speed add ons
Alien Instinct
Lethal Pursuer
Leverage
Gen Slowdown/Blood Echo
I really think it would work better on a killer or build that focused on having one or maybe two other survivors injured and not the whole team. With one or two extra injured, there is a 2/3 chance that you *don't* see the furthest survivor, or that you see someone close to you. If you run it on someone like legion or plague or a build that focuses too much on trying to keep everyone injured, doesn't that just pretty much gaurantee that you will always see the furthest survivor?
As a legion main... yep, noticed it. Hehe
