I have always loved using Trail of torment even if it wasn't the strongest I only just realized in one of my games that trail had in fact been buffed from this patch which is pretty good and Im glad that it got buffed now it is slightly stronger than it was before. if you add trail and third seal then no one will be able to tell you have trail unless they destroy third seal
This is some of my favorite longer-form content that you do. Having a creative build, several matches, and the timestamps for them is huge for me. The only time I get to watch you usually is while I'm going to the bathroom (Two kids, work, finishing my bachelor's, and my wife runs her business out of our home!) You are what keeps me coming back to dbd, even if it's just a few games a month because you keep the creative spirit alive which is one of the few things that keeps this game so interesting. I'm sure it's not easy, especially with the ongoing problems it has. But your hard work is appreciated and your content brings me a few minutes of chill in a hectic world.
been really loving the gen tap change on killer's side, makes playing without heavy slowdown feel much more rewarding since your efforts cant just be erased because someone tapped a gen for a single frame mid-chase, very freeing for the killers that dont kick gens much and are more control focused
An alternative build would be replacing overcharge with nowhere to hide. This would allow you to, say, if discordance goes off and only one of the survivors is healthy you can chase the injured one away so dragons grip will affect the healthy one
That conversation about being nice to others is so important. When I play killer I try to just be fair and nice, and always say GG in the end chat. As survivor, which is my mainly played role, I don't give up on hook, DC, t-bag or try to be toxic in any way. I always make sure to be positive, but often times there's so many people that say really nasty things despite the positivity :/ It's really starting to turn me off, despite having played for years and loving the game. :(
As a player with 230 hours, the add-on where the box is invisible until the hunt starts is literally a game-winner EVERY time when I play survivor. It’s near impossible to counter without teamwork, and literally such a small percent of the player base play with other people (like with coms) so it’s always been gg when that add-on is in play.
Otz, I've had really rough time lately. There's nothing in my life to make me smile. However I always liked watching you trying something new in dbd and watching these videos made me feel some relief. Thank you for doing great content. It may seem weird but I really appreciate it.
I’ve always found the most fun in actually trying to startle gamers using stealth builds, so hearing about this is very interesting 👀 I might replace overcharge and dragon’s grip for furtive chase and nemesis to make an obsession build that will truly make gamers feel like they’re being chosen to be hunted down
This minus the actual trail of torment perk is literally my Onryo setup, you put dragons grip on a gen then just demanifest and walk around the corner and 9/10 times they come straight back and touch it. I've had so many DC's with that strat.
I LOVE Trail of Torment, it's a very underused perk that gets you really really far. Xenomorph, Demo, Chucky, Wesker, Nurse, Blight, Oni. It just goes incredible with everyone!! (that has mobility)

Your comment at 16:40 is so needed. I always try to let a survivor get hatch or gate. I 4k like 25% of the time. But realistically never because of the above. This game is meant to be fun for 5 people at once. Not for 1killer to bully and ruin the experience for 4 other people. And not for 2 survivors or 4 survivors to bully and ruin the game for 1 killer. Whats beautiful about asyms is that its possible for everyone to enjoy the game even when they lose but the toxicity only breeds more toxicity
@@sorrysirmygunisoneba i disagree. Survivors are pretty limited in how toxic they can be. Especially when there are so many solo q’s. Any killer can be unfathomably toxic. I split my time evenly between killer snd survivor. In iridescent 75% killers tunnel out or proxi camp. Only issues i have with survivors are tbagging and if its a 4 person swf sabo build.
I have a stealth build that includes Trail of Torment as well that I made myself. The build is ToT, Dark Devotion/Furtive Chase, Hex: The Third Seal, and a gen regression perk of your choice. I personally like to use Eruption because it activates immediately after I kick a gen to activate ToT, plus the aura-reading that comes from it compliments the Undetectable status quite nicely. Hex: The Third Seal is a must for this build because it prevents Survivors from seeing the generator's aura after you apply ToT to it. That perk combined with ToT is so insane that I've had matches where I was undetectable for pretty much the entire game. As for Dark Devotion/Furtive Chase, I swap between the two depending on which Killer I'm using. For example, if I'm The Mastermind, I'll use Dark Devotion because his ability already provides excellent mobility. If I'm The Cenobite, I'll use Furtive Chase because the haste effect lets me catch Survivors quicker
The cooldown kinda makes me not run Trail of Torment and Dragon's Grip, especially since their cooldowns don't align. Such a weird camera effect on those chains...makes them harder to steer, and they were already pretty tough. Wonder if this is intentional, or if they broke it somehow.
Finally i did something before i saw an otzdarva video on it only difference i used call of brime instead of discordance because i still haven't unlocked it
Otz, can you do a tier list of all the famous metas throughout in the game (for both survivors and killers). It would be fun to remember what the game has been through and what ridiculous moments we have witnessed.
Played a couple matches with this build on the Doctor. I have to say it is quite fun. Especially on Gideon when I can hide behind the wall where both survivors ran opposite from and then give the returning one a fright. Trial of torment not going off cooldown now since the regression change has really given this perk my stealth builds some love. Now in my top ten perks atm.
That second game was the epitome of "it ain't over 'til it's over". Had that one guy stayed in the game, who knows, they might have pulled off a four person escape.
16:19 Honestly this is a really important thing to bring up. I tried playing some different builds today, no addons, no meta perks, just fun ones that you never see people use, like Batteries Included and Superior Anatomy, etc on killers that arent really strong, like Pig and Trapper. And man after 10 matches I seriously considered just stopping playing. Just constant tbagging and spamming loud noise notifications and harassment in the endgame chat. It made me seriously thing "why am I trying to play in a different way, when it's only fun for the survivors, and only fun for them since they get to make fun of me?". Like, I have no issue losing, I cant win every game obviously. But why am I playing a weak killer with niche perks instead of Nurse with meta perks if the amount of bm i get is the same? and oh lord, if i forget to take off my pride charms before a match as killer i might as well disconnect instantly since if I dare exist with a pride flag as a killer i will end up subjected to the most vile and toxic endgame chat thats existed since Call of Duty 4 on the 360.
I've been running this build for a couple months with nemesis and it's loads of fun. I use eruption instead of overcharge but otherwise same build. Great combo!
12:23 The Nancy had both Dead Hard and Balanced Landing. I mean...all these survivor builds are pretty interesting. Only Prove Thyself is the non-selfish perk.
10"07 Otz didn't know it before but know we'll never know it because his train of thought got derailed. 16:24 This is legit the reason I left the game and don't play anymore. As Killer I always tried to play for twelve hooks and not tunnel anyone but I would constantly get toxic Survivors who would rapid vault things outside of chase to cause the "loud noise" notifications or spam click flashlights when that was a thing as well as a bunch of other things that were not just "playing the game". You don't need to hit crouch five times in a row after vaulting a pallet against an M1 Killer nor do you need to wait around after opening the exit gate for "a few more points". And it wasn't much better whenever I played Survivor, constantly getting face camping or tunneling Killers or four-person slug bleedouts. The shear amount of toxicity on both sides just got to be too much and I stopped playing. The really sad thing was I felt so much better after having uninstalled and didn't have that feeling that I needed to play every day. Uninstalling Dead By Daylight literally improved my quality of life. Thanks for the video Otz!
Its funny that strong player in last game leaves whenever he can and does not waste anyone's time, but survivors who escapes due to luck chooses to tbag killer.
@7:40 yeah one game we had a person dead, me with 2 hooks and two left doing a gen last or 2, and even though i was injured i picked up the box and kept running around occasionally hopping in a locker until i found the two of them healing after they escaped chase, i sat waiting for the 3 chains to hit me and got a heal then ran off to close the box away from where they were headed to do a gen, and as expected pinhead teleported to me when i did so, my friend who was dead didnt understand why i ran around with the box for like 5 minutes. this was because i didnt want to give pinhead a kill with me being injured and i wanted to give the other two survivors a chance to do stuff with out being in the chain hunt, since only the person holding the box will be hunted during that time. we were on RPD and i even got a cheeky box close by going onto one of the intermediate level stairs and won the 50/50 of pin head teleporting downstairs so i got extra distance by going up, i think i still died that game but we got final gen done and those two out. oh but i do wanna say that the chains hitting you i think still stop you doing the box, but your progression is kept, but once you have the 3 chains on you no more will spawn unless broken and then you are able to complete the box
i already used this combo back before nowhere to hide got bricked with, well... nowhere to hide instead of discordance, so i could KNOW when to hide close by for the dragons grip trap to trigger
I believe the fov bug in chains of torment has to do with a cross between the fov slider, the powers fov, and the recent change they made to cap fov. The fov slider affects powers, seen very prominently in singularity's cameras. The power already has an increased fov. Behavior just recently put a patch stopping you from increasing the fov even further from outside the game. My guess is the chains fov increase puts it past the cap, so the game to bring it in, but then the power trys to bring it back out, etc.
Trail of torment is amazing. Especially on indoor maps, but also for disgusting setups. Considering "tapping" has been eliminated, it makes sense to see it get some love.
Trail of torment is super fun to use. I cannot use it effectively since I have the dumbs, but that perk in conjunction with third seal is such a mean combo. No map wide holograms plus the stealth bonus from Trail.
An advice, tty this perk with billys silence chainsaw addon, its the most fun way i found playing billy. That undetectable is long af so they dont even know if u are readying up your chainsaw or not around corners where they cant see you
Tried this build a few months ago because I was trying to come up with some way to make use of Freddie's crappy dress addons. Found out in play testing that they don't work with special skill checks even though other stuff that affects skill checks do work. Moved it over to Alien because he just came out (at the time) and I didn't know what to run on him. Freddie is the land of eternal suffering.
Hey Otz, idk if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to say that I love your gameplay and videos, despite not always enjoying playing dbd myself. You always find some way to make it entertaining and you always have such a great attitude. Thanks for all you’re doing man 🙏
Ohhh i love ToT i like using the perk to help trapper and hag be undetectable for a while since they benefit from setting up discreetly. I usually pair it with pop though which sounds like a weird combo but pop regression is proportional to the current gen progress so im also guaranteed a good amount of regression and tater ToT value, so long as a survivor doesnt stop it.
Trail of Torment has become my favorite perk in the game since the change where you keep the Undetectable after hitting a Survivor. It compelled me to come up with a deliciously evil build on Myers. Lethal Pursuer (ez Tier I grabs) Trail of Torment Nowhere to Hide STBFL Add-ons are Mirror Shard & Reflective Fragment. They stack with each other as well as Lethal Pursuer, so if you stalk a Survivor for 1 second in Tier II, you see their aura for *9 whole seconds.* It makes for absolutely insane mind-game potential. The other three perks are for Tier III. Kick a gen to make yourself *Undetectable with Tier III* to sneak up on unsuspecting Survivor(s). STBFL should ensure you catch both or all of them. Tier III usually ends about the same time that the Trail gen gets touched, so the cooldown should end by the time you get Tier III again. (Which means you get to use the nutty Mirror Shard again during that time.) This is my favorite build in the game because it supplements all three of Myers' tiers, making all of them feel powerful. The shadow-buff to Trail of Torment only makes this build even more devious.
I have been running a very similar build on Dredge since he came out. I just replace Discordance with Make Your Choice for extra lethality, since I can already use Nightfall to find out which gens people are on.
i've been on the ToT train for MONTHS and they buff it after i quit the game. even dragon's grip was slept on, in my opinion. i got a lot of cocky, bully type survs that wont even wait for me to leave before hopping back on the gen, but one bad dragon('s grip) in the wrong spot can send the team spiraling
not only they broke fov on pinhead's portal but on billy's animations bumping into objects, nurse's whole fov and animations are broken and oni flicks feel weird! i bet there are more killers' fov of which are broken... hope they will fix that next patch
I love how unique Dragon's Grip is, but the cooldown is just way too long. I feel like they should change it so if you kick a gen and nobody touches it in the 30 seconds, it doesn't go on cooldown, and you can use it again
I like using hex: plaything ,trail of torment ,nurses calling and hex: blood favor with trapper or wesker. I've gotten soooooo many 4 kill games with this build
Sir we need you to delete this comment as it goes against the narrative that killers need to run 4 slowdowns to even have a chance against the average survivor who is clearly a carbon copy of every comp team
@@NewSirenSong I know you were being sarcastic I was just saying lol but you're right tho in what you said. Me personally I realize I wasnt having as much fun with the game when I was only using builds that would help me win so nowadays I always just randomize until something magical happens lol
This is the build I was running before the patch except I would use Oppression in place of Discordance. Very strong build before, even stronger build now.
I ran torment, overcharge, dead mans switch, and eruption on slinger and had undetectable for like a whole 4 minutes at one point sneaking around for shots
For an evil build. Use billy with apex muffler and yellow steering. Trail of torment, grim embrace, ultimate weapon, and pain resonance, silent chainsaw with no terror radius, good steering and insane slowdown.
I played a similar build to this on Deathslinger, except no Dragon's Grip because I don't have it but iri coin works pretty well too. Stealthy Slinger has been very fun
Trail of Torment is such a fun perk. I think it's very fun with Trapper. I use some other chase perks like stbfl and the coffee grounds/iri stone add-on. It's definitely not competitively viable but it's pretty fun for me.
oh my god i just now realized that if the surivior emotes it can waste the killers time long enough for some run in and do flash light or pallet save few seconds could change every thing
DBD has a few issues with FoV that can cause vertigo. Nurse, Blight, and currently Cenobyte's powers all cause it for me due to the jarring movement. I only really ever play nurse with the add-on that disables your power to give you more movespeed after a teleport hit because of it.

this was because i didnt want to give pinhead a kill with me being injured and i wanted to give the other two survivors a chance to do stuff with out being in the chain hunt, since only the person holding the box will be hunted during that time. we were on RPD and i even got a cheeky box close by going onto one of the intermediate level stairs and won the 50/50 of pin head teleporting downstairs so i got extra distance by going up, i think i still died that game but we got final gen done and those two out.
oh but i do wanna say that the chains hitting you i think still stop you doing the box, but your progression is kept, but once you have the 3 chains on you no more will spawn unless broken and then you are able to complete the box
i already used this combo back before nowhere to hide got bricked with, well... nowhere to hide instead of discordance, so i could KNOW when to hide close by for the dragons grip trap to trigger
2:37 That’s the evilest thing I can imagine.
I legit used this build so often in the past, glad to see that it's becoming a trend.
My guess is the chains fov increase puts it past the cap, so the game to bring it in, but then the power trys to bring it back out, etc.
i was playin this build on some killers befor the changes ... now its even better. Nice Vid
This build is going to be very popular for quite a while.
Trail of torment is amazing. Especially on indoor maps, but also for disgusting setups. Considering "tapping" has been eliminated, it makes sense to see it get some love.
18:22 She was shining the flashlight before you even looked up
Flashlight timing is... interesting
That undetectable is long af so they dont even know if u are readying up your chainsaw or not around corners where they cant see you
This is the earliest I’ve been to a otz vid
Tried this build a few months ago because I was trying to come up with some way to make use of Freddie's crappy dress addons. Found out in play testing that they don't work with special skill checks even though other stuff that affects skill checks do work. Moved it over to Alien because he just came out (at the time) and I didn't know what to run on him.
Freddie is the land of eternal suffering.
I’ve been using this build even before the trail of torment buff. Fun to watch someone else try it. Although I didn’t use discordance.
Hey Otz, idk if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to say that I love your gameplay and videos, despite not always enjoying playing dbd myself. You always find some way to make it entertaining and you always have such a great attitude. Thanks for all you’re doing man 🙏
its cool character design that the character all about pain and suffering makes you suffer whenever you use his power
im so glad i am not the only one who noticed the shadow buff for trails of torment
Lethal Pursuer (ez Tier I grabs)
Trail of Torment
Nowhere to Hide
STBFL
Add-ons are Mirror Shard & Reflective Fragment.
(Which means you get to use the nutty Mirror Shard again during that time.)
This is my favorite build in the game because it supplements all three of Myers' tiers, making all of them feel powerful. The shadow-buff to Trail of Torment only makes this build even more devious.
I have been running a very similar build on Dredge since he came out. I just replace Discordance with Make Your Choice for extra lethality, since I can already use Nightfall to find out which gens people are on.
sick vid! loved the intro
i've been on the ToT train for MONTHS and they buff it after i quit the game. even dragon's grip was slept on, in my opinion. i got a lot of cocky, bully type survs that wont even wait for me to leave before hopping back on the gen, but one bad dragon('s grip) in the wrong spot can send the team spiraling
Definitely feels like Pinhead's chain hitbox is off, even when it's right on top of them it's either missing or just going right through them.
You uploaded just as I loaded up dbd, thanks for giving me a build to try right away😂
Yay, have fun!
I love trail of torment on myers when in tier 3. Its always funny when you can visibly see the survivor panic
28:13 Wait, the FOV affects "blindability"? Because I feel like I got blinded from some impossible angles even before the FOV change.
I didn't even think about how the gen changes would be a subtle trail of torment buff, glad I prestiged PH before this update lmao
We should call this, "The bunker spider™" build.
I was using this build (and similar) before the gen regression-kick changes - I LOVE IT!!
not only they broke fov on pinhead's portal but on billy's animations bumping into objects, nurse's whole fov and animations are broken and oni flicks feel weird! i bet there are more killers' fov of which are broken... hope they will fix that next patch
knockout instead of overcharge would be extra nasty imo
Dragons Grip + Trail Of Torment has been one of my fav combos for aaaages
I love this perk and have been using it since forever! So happy to see it get a shadow buff! Great build, too! :)
I love how unique Dragon's Grip is, but the cooldown is just way too long. I feel like they should change it so if you kick a gen and nobody touches it in the 30 seconds, it doesn't go on cooldown, and you can use it again
You receive unlimited Dragons Grip, I receive unlimited Blast Mine (again) 🤝
@@Fatbumcrack 🤝
I like using hex: plaything ,trail of torment ,nurses calling and hex: blood favor with trapper or wesker. I've gotten soooooo many 4 kill games with this build
Sir we need you to delete this comment as it goes against the narrative that killers need to run 4 slowdowns to even have a chance against the average survivor who is clearly a carbon copy of every comp team
@@NewSirenSong lol I just prefer playing stealth as a killer it makes for great moments
@@101mylo (I know I was being sarcastic, so many killers have convinced themselves that they only ever play against comp squads and 24/7 OP items)
@@NewSirenSong I know you were being sarcastic I was just saying lol but you're right tho in what you said. Me personally I realize I wasnt having as much fun with the game when I was only using builds that would help me win so nowadays I always just randomize until something magical happens lol
@@101mylo that's so valid man, I'm glad you found your preferred way to have fun and I hope you stay enjoying dbd
This is the build I was running before the patch except I would use Oppression in place of Discordance. Very strong build before, even stronger build now.
I ran torment, overcharge, dead mans switch, and eruption on slinger and had undetectable for like a whole 4 minutes at one point sneaking around for shots
I have been waiting for this perk in the shrine for a LONG TIME and it didn't appear yet...
For an evil build. Use billy with apex muffler and yellow steering. Trail of torment, grim embrace, ultimate weapon, and pain resonance, silent chainsaw with no terror radius, good steering and insane slowdown.
"Not sure if it's a build I recommend."
You were having a blast with this build. Of course you should recommend it! We play video games to have fun.
I played a similar build to this on Deathslinger, except no Dragon's Grip because I don't have it but iri coin works pretty well too. Stealthy Slinger has been very fun
I’ve been running a similar build on ghost face and man it’s fun!
Trail of Torment is such a fun perk. I think it's very fun with Trapper. I use some other chase perks like stbfl and the coffee grounds/iri stone add-on. It's definitely not competitively viable but it's pretty fun for me.
That trapper game is one of the craziest things I’ve seen
I think there is a good chance some changes will be made regarding these mechanics, given the stuff we saw survivors can do in Hens' video.
Someday I want to hear "Hello Otz, this is friends!"
always loved this perk, turns ANY killer into a jumpscare killer
oh my god i just now realized that if the surivior emotes it can waste the killers time long enough for some run in and do flash light or pallet save few seconds could change every thing
DBD has a few issues with FoV that can cause vertigo. Nurse, Blight, and currently Cenobyte's powers all cause it for me due to the jarring movement. I only really ever play nurse with the add-on that disables your power to give you more movespeed after a teleport hit because of it.
I use this perk for Legion and also the other perk where you see the furthest injured survivor.
