One thing I like to do to sort of "warm up" in the piece is to start with the background first. An art teacher told us to start with the background so we have context and to work from back to front. It gives me the context first so I don't over or under compensate when drawing the focal point of the drawing.

I color in books to work on my technique and did a similar picture where I imagined there was a blue light shining on the face. It was hard without an actual reference picture that matched what I was coloring. It was hard working through that ugly phase, but I kept pushing, I got some experience trying to blend colors that don't necessarily go together and I think it came out pretty good! Your tutorials are incredibly helpful and guided me throughout.

Thinking of taking art for my GCSE just worried about deadlines!! So , I’m creating a playlist for this sorta stuff (and music to listen to!) I’m collecting art supplies now even though our school offers it for people that need it , but I’d rather get stuff I want and is good at. Of course each piece has a goal and supplies you need to use (sometimes for supplies but not all the time) but id rather get used to it. I need all 8-9 for GCSE’s for the jobs I want and maybe a 7 so I’m just worried as I’m not the best at art! But my teacher said a lot of people that got 8-9s in GCSE’s weren’t that good in years 7-9 (not the best but not the worse) what she said was “a lot of my year 10-11’s said they where impressed by how much they improved” as I’m doing a lot of very serious stuff as English, maths , science (required to do you have to do it) and I’m also doing History. I want to do 2 lighter subjects which I think are going to be art and drama! I have a couple of questions: - What are the best pens , pencils , rubber , paper , paints , paintbrush and highlight pen (like the ones you used lol) that are not to expensive but are good quality ( I’m in the uk so £) ? - How long does it take you for pieces like this? - If I struggle with motivation for big pieces like this , what are ways to get them up if you know any? And any tips ty!!

I just did a piece with markers and color pencils for the first time even tho I mess up a little I like alittle so far ,I only used markers on it and not just all color pencil because I saw how u uesd both and they come out very nice but thanks to u I may keep working with the markers and color pencils together for now on 🥰

Your drawing turned out quite beautifully Temi❤! Base layers are my fav, I use them while painting too, but I call them under-paintings. High quality paper and base layers are a definite game changer; smh until recently, I thought I was terrible at colored pencil art/didn't know how to use Prismas, nope just the wrong paper, sheesh🤦🏾♀️🤣!

I don’t enjoy drawing anymore.. Idk how to get that love for it back. When I try? I get bored easily or I never have enough patience therefore I rush it. My drawings never turn out the same as they used to. Struggling to get back into it. Thinking about drawing makes me excited but when I start.. I just can’t do it!
