    Expressing yourself is the biggest freedom people have. After watching this I understand how people could be weary but if you want this do it! Be safe and understand the effects and possible outcomes of the piercing, you take a risk every time you put a foreign object in your body. I’ve just gotten mine done and will be sad if it rejects but I will deal. You gotta be you!

    • @kawaiilimbs
      @kawaiilimbs 3 года назад +5

      i have it, just make sure you clean & don't bump it. if you ever do get it - clear signs of migration/rejection are:
      1. it's hard & swollen around the holes
      2. redness or dryness around the holes
      3. pus & discharge (however, this can also be a normal process for the healing of the peircing)
      you can clean it by mixing salt with boiled water then applying it around the holes of the piercing, trying not to bump or move it accidentally. (rememeber to apply when it's cooled down)

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +3

      It all comes down to anatomy and your body's tolerance for piercings. The fact your navel migrated doesn't point to having a tolerance for piercings. However it is piercing that if done incorrectly, with incorrect jewelry or aftercare will lead to rejection.

    I assumed all risks and have had my bridge piercing for 10 years now., To be blunt, I fucking love it. I get how you feel about the general look being wonky, and what I did to mitigate that is took out my 14g straight barbell and instead use a 16g curved. Much smaller and delicate looking and works with rather than distracts from the face. Back in the day my face was a pincushion and the only piercing I keep now (well, wear jewelry in, I've got some holes still) is the bridge. Gets complimented often though I've also had some people not notice it until it was pointed out and I like that I can easily cover up with a pair of glasses rather than a retainer.

      10 years!! so far you’re the commenter who’s had it the longest. i’ve wanted a bridge for a while but i always do extensive research. i have a condition that leaves me with stretchy skin and i have a good amount on the bridge, enough to grab and pull away from the bone but i wouldn’t know if it’s enough for this piercing. perhaps getting a slightly smaller gauge than what is standard like you did with the 16G would help reduce the negative risks, i’m just also not sure if piercers can do the initial piercing with a 16G

    I got mine in september last year :) So far, so good, I like how it looks, and it's mostly hidden in college by my glasses. Made a couple friends from it. With my glasses, I specifically made sure with my piercer that it was done high enough to not be in contact with my glasses pad, the bar under my skin is literally just on top of the bridge of my glasses. Honestly, it probably should have rejected by now, with how often I've knocked it, caught it on my shirt, forget it was there and pulled it but it hasn't. Gonna check if it's healed enough to change when I get my eyebrow done soonish. The only 'issue' I've had is my face makes very uneven expressions, and it tends to move with my eyebrows, so the left goes up, and the right goes down when I pull a face 😂 but I quite like it tbh, reminds me of really exaggerated cartoons, though one of my friends hates it

Worst case, if its uncomfortable, you just have to sit your glasses a little further down for a week or so. The big thing to not to put anything heavy on it. I used a vr headset with it and that was an immediate mistake, but your glasses shouldn't be a major issue.

      See, I always hope that is the case. I hear and experience so many horror stories with this piercing and other surface to surface piercings. As I said as long as you know the risks before and make an educated decision, I support you swinging for the fences. Personal taste aside any time a piercing heals it amazes me. It's incredible that the body does that. Glad you enjoyed the video and here's hoping you are one of those that can wear the piercing for 49 years without any problems.

    I wonder if being in the industry and having people come to you with their piercings gone wrong have skewed your perception of my favorite piercing. I've had my bridge pierced for 22 years now with no signs of migration and it is hands down my favorite piercing. Out of the 20+ piercings I've gotten throughout my life it's the only one that I've kept besides my stretched earlobes. I love it because as a trans person it highlights the area which helps to masculanize my face. I've also been able to keep it through jobs that did not allow facial piercings (RIP multiple labret piercings, tongue, & eyebrow piercings) because I've been able to hide it with my glasses so I can show it when I want and hide it when I don't. The only time I have ever had difficulty is when I've occasionally needed to take it out by myself for a medical procedure which is a challenge but not impossible. Overall, agree that you need the right anatomy to make it work but in my experience 10/10. Kudos for the provocative video leading me to need to comment my experience. Cheers :)

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  5 месяцев назад

      I think part of it is seeing more badly done and often rejecting or migrating bridge piercings. I would say out of the first 30 or so I saw, 29 were crocked or rejecting.
      Plus part of it is my own artistic eye. There are some people that wear it like they were born with it but that is the minority. There are a few other piercings I won't do for the same reason.
      The biggest thing is finding someone that knows what they are doing and having the anatomy to support it.
      Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.

    Got my bridge piercing over a year ago. I haven’t had issues being a 24/7 glasses wearer HOWEVER it was my most painful piercing I had migraines immediately after for 2 days and the swelling was so severe my eyes were swollen. I have noticed perhaps maybe mild migration but nothing crazy. The healing was longer compared to my other piercings and to this day it can get red/crusty (no longer painful tho). I have a great piercer but I never heard of how it can be problematic until now, wish I knew but this is useful info! Definitely not all rainbows and butterflies to get

      I think that a part of what is forgotten about piercing artists is they are artists. They are not just someone that is there to put jewelry in their clients. If I find a piercing is not a esthetically pleasing and has a poor success rate, I don't have to do them.
      I have never done one and have in my 26 years of piercing never wanted to do one. In that period though I have seen countless people with crocked, poorly placed bridge piercings. Also hundreds of people with rejection scars.
      My biggest issue I have with piercings like this is that piercers do not inform their clients of the risk of rejection.

      That may be because I'm from the Midwest aka the land where passive aggressive has been developed into an art form.
      I'm not a fan of this piercing. I've seen a number of people over the years with huge amounts of scarring from rejection and I simply don't feel it distracts more than it adds to the fave. It's one of the piercings I will not do. When it comes to videos on piercings that I refuse to do, it's because I had a number of requests for it. A big part of this is my professional opinion of the piercing.

    Thanks for letting me know the pros and cons, I have been contemplating this piercing for a year or two, I wear glasses and rub that part of my face when stressed. Im hoping it doesnt migrate or reject. I have salts ready for it like i had for my other piercings and they have healed perfectly. Thank you for the video, it was helpful.

      You're welcome and I'm glad you found the video informative. When you do your consultation with your piercer discuss your concerns with them.

    I'd like to get it done, even after this vid.
    totally get every point you made (ive had over 25 piercings) I'm just hoping that once I get it done, I catch any rejection or migration early enough to take it out!

    I wear glasses and have tried telling myself no to this piercing for years, even getting piercings to replace it that have a similar vibe (A double nostril), but I just can't do it anymore. I want this piercing so so badly and have an eye doctor appointment coming up anyway. I'm getting it the day before so I can get compatible glasses. If it scares I can always cover it with my glasses. I just have to take a chance on this one bc it's what my heart wants. I'll give updates when I get it

    I’ve always wanted this piercing I have a septum and a belly button piercing would this a belly button piercing be similar?

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +2

      No, the navel is by far a more established piercing. Though the bridge may have a slightly faster healing time, it is more prone to migration and rejection.

    This is another piercing that I've had on my list for a long time but I wear glasses so unless I'm able to get contacts I don't think I would ever actually get it on top of the fact that I hate the way my nose looks and I'm worried that by getting it done it's going to make my nose look bigger and worse

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing
      @BodyPiercingTattooing  4 года назад +1

      With nose piercings, I'm always asked if I think it is going to make it look bigger? Yes, it will draw attention to the area but it also tends to distract from it. It all comes down to how well it fits your anatomy. Yeah, glasses, especially those with a think bridge are going to cause issues. I've had people comment on here that they wear glasses and have no issue but I think it would really depend on how and where the glasses rest on the bridge of the nose.

    I never considered getting this piercing. I don't think it looks good, or enhances anyone's appearance. If you have to wear glasses for correction or just safety glasses for work as I do, the piercing would be in the way. Also being a surface piercing that will eventually reject, it's just a waste of money. I can see why you won't do this piercing, and I wouldn't either if I were a body piercer. (Jan Griffiths).

    • @BodyPiercingTattooing

      Yeah, and it is one of those piercings that seem to go away and then return even more popular. I think this is about the fifth time it's done that. I really don't have anything against people getting them, as long as they are aware of the risks.
