This is exactly why I love audiobooks! Sitting down and reading makes me so tired to the point that I lose interest in the book. It can also be difficult to even find the time to sit down to read. I usually listen to an audiobook while doing chores.
Ahhh I’m so happy that you read Six Crimson Cranes!! I hope you read The Dragon Promise when you get the chance 😊 Would love to hear your thoughts about it!
It's the opposite for me, I've been on a roll reading wise! I read A Study in Drowning, Funny Story, Once Upon a Broken Heart, the sequel and Butcher & Blackbird back to back and I've never read this fast. Five Broken Blades is next and I feel like this reading burst is not ending anytime soon!
@@jaimefok I gave it 3 stars! I liked some aspects (the setting, the themes explored) and others not so much (underdeveloped characters and plotlines, plot holes). A lot of people say it's dark academia but I disagree. It's more gothic IMO. And there's a big focus on trauma and anxiety. Overall, a lot more deep and serious of a read than I initially thought, which is not a bad thing.
Immediately got six crimson cranes after seeing you rave it! I just found my recent five star read - daughter of no worlds trilogy! Give it a try sometime 😊
@@jaimefokyea I remember you didn’t like serpent of the wings. I think no harm giving the first book a try ☺️ the daughter of no worlds trilogy is free on kindle unlimited~ maybe you can explore the possibility of making a video on KU too if you decide to subscribe? 😆
Reading slumps are such a struggle. It’s hard to know what book is actually going to be good enough to get you out of the slump. I’m currently in a slump from reading a 5 star book and not finding anything that is living up to that one. (But maybe I should check out Six Crimson Cranes) Also, you should save Life’s Too Short for the winter Holiday season. It’s set around that time and would just add to the coziness. I really enjoyed it and almost teared up a few times while reading it.
Definitely check out six crimson cranes, I loved it so much! OHHHH ok will consider saving it haha- it’s so high on my TBR, I might get impatient waiting 😂
I swear Libby does that on purpose. It will be nothing for a while and you are scrounging for books to read, and then all of a sudden you are bombarded with every book you have on hold at the same time.
I'm currently half way through the second book of Six crimson cranes (The dragon's promise) and I'm loving it so far just as much as I loved the first book
I will say as the one person who said Legendborn I'm not upset you chose Six Crimson Cranes since I've also read everything within that universe and have loved them all 😂
I'm glad you got out of your reading slump. And that it was Six Crimson Cranes that got you out of it. I have the book, but have yet to read it. Earlier this year, I was in a reading slump. I tried to get out of it by reading cozy, light books. Then I read The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi. It is the opposite of cozy. It really drew me in. I was invested in the characters. I realized that i need to read intense books that engross me. I can mix them with the cozy books. But just reading cozy books doesn't work for me
Personally, when I am in a reading slump I give myself the time to recover and do other activities and then usually I pick up a book with many short stories, like a Raymond Carver book
i immediately followed you on goodreads because it sounds like we have the same taste in books! i also don’t mind spice, but would prefer less spice in my books. have you read any books from katherine center? i was recently in a slump and her two most recent books got me out of feeling slumpy.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price was rubbish! I will not pick Holly Jackson anymore especially if I must pay for it. I don't think she is a thriller-mystery author.
what do you do to get out of a reading slump?
Listen to audiobooks and wait it out, I'm not sure how effective it is but oh well😂
I read it with a goal. Like 60 pages a day until I feel myself wanting to read more. That always seems to work.
@@Lonelygravesidewriter ohh good idea!
@@Violet_Purple688 that’s a good method!
Give myself a break from reading. The first book I pick up after the break will be the book I'm MOST excited to read and KNOW I will love.
I'm a mood reader so I find picking up a book difficult
I feel this!
I'm a mood reader so it's usually a book a day or nothing for months. 😅
Sometimes a quick, lighthearted fanfic or novella helps.
Lol REAL
I love how creative you're getting with these book challenges!😄🤍
YAY!

I just keep trying different books until I find one that clicks. Usually in a favorite genre.
