Ever since the walking dead show came out I was convinced the best anti zombie gun was a 22 LR rifle using 22 quiet shells. Decent penetration and low noise so you don't attract a horde. Like you said you can carry a brick of 500 in the same space 50 rounds of some pistol ammo would take up.
OUTSTANDING REVIEW VICTOR .My favorite .22 LR Rounds are the 40 grain CCI Velocitor & The Federal 29 grain Punch ammo, I have put down several Feral Hogs & Coyotes with the 40 grain CCI Velocitor Hollow Point.I find it to be the best .22LR for hunting game larger than a rabbit or squirrel .out to 100 yards it performs well.
when deer and elk hunting back in the day [old fart here] i carried a nine shot revolver 4" barrel, could hold steady back 30 yrs ago.i hated passing up grouse on my hunting trips so i got a few boxes of 22 cb,s slower than shorts but very quiet.could shoot grouse out of the trees and not scare the game, loved it.i like your videos thanks
@@knrz2562 Yep. My dad packed one made by High Standard. A couple different models. Centennial or Sentennial maybe if memory serves? Maybe even a lightweight frame model but dads was a double 9 or double 09. Shot a lot of coons etc. Good pistol. All dad packed for everything from self defense to trapping lines to hunting. Also double action.
@@kentuckywindage222 Yep, you are correct. High Standard made a number of 9 shot models...including the Longhorn/Double Nine, one of which I still own to this day. Fantastic, accurate, very well-made revolvers!
It would be nice to see you do these test from actual self defense distances and on a ballistic body. Think it's funny how people say some people will just walk through shots from a 22lr. Thanks for doing the test.
Good video. I haven’t seen any video with the punch shooting into simulated bone. Good that you shot it early in the test. All though several made it through the skull. Thanks for the video.
I was impressed with the Inteeceptor I love both styles and my all time favorite The Stinger along with its brother the Velocitor both moved the zombies head pretty good! I really enjoy stuff like this thanks for sharing bro
The 22cal is very deadly close range then some. I have seen a video a 40 standard round go through a Half inch plywood 3000ft away. Dangerous with in one mile.💀
Whewee, this thing makes a 380 look like a power house. Always love these ballistics tests with the bones in them skull and torso. It's not the most effective but goes to show you don't want domed with one. Good video. I enjoyed the testing. I do not know enough about it but seems like in a real life situation some neanderthal looking attacker with an ultra thick skull might stop the round out of a pistol. I've seen sternums stop them in tests and the skull is nothing to slouch at. If it's all you have or is more comfortable to carrry go for it but I certainly feel more comfortable with a 380 or something larger, lol. I love my 22s and .177 airguns for squirrels and rabbit hunting, though. I've found myself taking my nicer airguns squirrel hunting with my dogs over a rifle because of how much quieter they are. You spook them way less and it's a 16 shot airgun rated for more than enough fps to dome them. Definitely not using them for self defense, though.
My best friend always argue with me that saying will I be able to kill a zombie with my buckmark and 10/22 while I say today’s 357mag is more expensive than 556 and those are for close range and bad guys lol. Thanks for your video and I love watching
Thanks for watching! A lot of people mention that. It's on a higher terrace and way off to the right. I think the camera makes it look way closer than it is.
Fun idea (that I cant do because I'm a poor) : set up two chronographs. One by the muzzle, one on the other side of the head. Measure the speed drop of the projectile after it changes minds.
Thanks for watching! That would be interesting...not sure if I could pull it off. I think I'd only need one chrono, put it at the exit. We already know how fast the bullet is going from the muzzle.
There’s no question, if you make a hit with a .22 it’s over. I like the idea of it for in the home for a spouse to use or even for the man of the house. If the person doesn’t have armor, they don’t have a chance, not with a 30 round mag, assuming no malfunctions. It’s quiet and effective.
The 60 grain round is meant to be used in a non standard barrel. (1:9" twist) If you fired it at the skull at even 10 feet away, you would probably completely miss, and even if it hit, it would most likely keyhole. The best platform to shoot the SSS from is an AR with a drop-in .22lr conversion unit, which uses the faster twist of the 5.56 barrel. A standard .22lr barrel has a twist rate if 1:16", which is good for projectiles up to 40 grains. Past that, the projectile is not stable enough to fly point first, resulting in piss poor accuracy.
@@TheOldFatDadGooberHey why wouldn't you using standard lead bullets it would've no that right it's definitely best you don't itll fragment shrapnel whatever is in front of if and you could end up hit instead
Since I have found out Velocitors fall 100fps short of their advertised velocity at the best of times from a rifle, I haven't looked for any. Interceptors are faster and cheaper. Better still Aguila Super Extra HV you could buy 3 for the cost of one velocitor and they are less than 100fps slower.
