This scene hits so hard every time I watch it. Anakin was born as a slave to Watto, then as a slave to the Jedi, then as a slave to Palpatine. Only when he died was he freed. He thought he turned to the Dark Side for the right cause, but was manipulated. In the Kenobi series, he was pure evil. Killing the villagers, torturing Obi-Wan, choking Reva. But in that line he gives Obi-Wan, “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker” his eyes turn blue for a little while. As if he’s forgiving his old master. But his eyes turn orange again, and he says “I did” with a smile. You can see he’s conflicted. That’s why he lost to Obi-Wan. With Reva, it was easy. He had no connection to her, she wasn’t a part of his life or anything. But with Obi-Wan, he was his mentor, his brother in arms, his friend for 14 years. And in Rebels, he was soft for Ahsoka, too. His apprentice, his sister in arms, and his friend. And here with Luke, he doesn’t want to kill him. He’s softened ever since he learned he had a son. And only Luke was able to forgive him. That’s why Vader’s helmet was fully removed. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka both removed a half of the helmet with force. Obi-Wan the left side, Ahsoka the right. But Luke removed the whole helmet, thanks to his love for his father. The mask that Vader wears is a symbol of fear and death. But inside, he’s a broken, depressed man who misses his wife. Luke brought him back. He brought back Anakin.

Lucas said that Vader was able to kill Palpatine so easily because Palpatine had become an epitome of darkness. He was so consumed by the dark side that all he could feel was anger, hate, fear, etc., and he had mastered these emotions. Lucas said if Vader had attempted to kill Palpatine out of anger, greed or lust for power, Palpatine would have known it instantly. However Vader's actions weren't motivated by any of those; it was motivated by love for his son, and love was an emotion Palpatine had no understanding of. Therefore, because he acted out of love, he was able to take Palpatine by surprise and kill him before he knew what was going on.

Anakin Skywalker naively believed him and caused so much pain and damage as Vader, everyone hates him to the core.
He was using the dark side so much for a long time, it prematurely aged and disfigured him. He was constantly angry and rage filled.
The scars were from Mustafar's burn damage which was still healing up.
Anakin was truly sorry for the damage he caused to others but he knew everyone hates his guts for all the evil deeds he committed as Vader.

The final battle with have the Jedi and Sith at a stalemate with Obi-Wan losing and tell Luke/Leia to run away.Vader would freeze and look to the children who showed no fear, they seemed getting closer to him. using the force he'd see flashes through their memory(What leia did in ROJ) Only to stop when he heard Padme's voice using the names that they wanted for the boy or girl baby, Vader would breakdown and sob uncontrollably

      Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      John 1:10 KJV

      John 20:28-29
And Thomas answered and said unto him, MY LORD AND MY GOD. [29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell?
      Acts 16:30-31
...what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
      1 John 1:8-10
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
      Luke 24:47
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
      Acts 4:12

Anakin has the saddest backstory. Anakin was a slave his whole life. From birth, to the Jedi Order, and the Sith. If it wasn’t for Luke, Anakin wouldn’t have died free. But thanks to Luke, Anakin broke free from the shackles, keeping him from being free. Not only did he die free, he saved his loved ones, like he was promised.
Anakin’s story is the only story that tells you “Power can corrupt people, no matter how good they are, and turn them evil. But, even the most evil villains can turn good. All it takes is one person to believe, and see the light within.”
    What a backstory.

It’s not so much as Vader’s obsessed with immortality but with the fact that he’s trying to punish himself for Padme’s death, stuck in a perpetual cycle of hate and loathing for himself for killing her. Vader sees serving Emperor Palpatine as the ultimate hell for a sinner such as himself due to the atrocities he’s committed than dying. It wasn’t until he encountered Luke and discovering he had a son that he started to let go of that hatred and break free from the cycle. To Vader, protecting the son of his beloved wife is his greatest penitence.

Palpatine didn't care about Vader at all, Vader was just a tool Sidious used and thrown away when he was not useful anymore.
Vader/Anakin was like to Palpatine, "You will not take any more from me ever again." and took revenge on Palpatine also for others who were victimized by him.
He looks very old here as he was using the dark side so much for a very long time, it rapidly aged him and the scars were from Mustafar's burn damage that was still healing up.
The pale skin was as a result of his skin confined to the suit and not seeing natural sunlight for a long time.
Other side effects of using the dark side too much for too long include deformed appearance, yellowing eyes and pale skin. The dark side also impairs your judgement and emotions.
Darth Sidious and Malgus were severely deformed in appearance as they were very deep dark side practitioners.

In Darth Vader's death scene, you can hear blaster shots going off in the background. Luke is the only Rebel on Death Star 2, and the stormtroopers aren't shooting at him. The Death Star is getting ready to explode, and all the imperial troops are evacuating. So the only thing those blaster shots could be are stormtroopers killing each other for spots on the ships. And they still never managed to hit anyone.

It's possible that there were a few rebel pilots who crash landed on the 2nd death star and survived in addition its likely a few landing craft either crashed into or docked to the 2nd death star with the task of sending a boarding party to disable control over major assets such as defense to prevent any more rebel space craft from getting shot down. Another asset being communications to not only prevent reinforcements from being called but to also prevent internal transmissions in order for the rebels to maintain the element of surprise and take care of other parts of the death star without being chased by the entire battalion of stormtroopers. Another asset being the hanger to prevent any more fighters from launching. And last but not least the control room to prevent control over the entire death star and completely cripple the station. Of course subtlety is not the rebels Forte so a major shootout started not long after boarding.

Luke loved his father no matter what, and through all the pain Vader suffered, deep down he was just a man who wanted to live a peaceful life. You can also tell that Anakin remembers when Palpatine told him Padme was dead, he wanted revenge and simply to be happy and in the end , he became a truly happy man

Have you ever noticed that when Darth Vader became Darth Vader, his first words through his mask were not about which rebels to kill first, not about plans to take over the galaxy, and not expressing his desire to kill Obi-Wan. The first thing he said was simply “where is Padme?” Even after turning himself over to the dark side he still had all this love in him directed towards Padme. When he found out that Padme was gone, he lost all love and lost all hope. After he lost his love, he had no feelings and no direction. Nothing else mattered to him besides taking over the galaxy and ruling the Empire. Darth Vader became heartless. That is until, he saw Luke almost die. The same strong love he had for Padme was now directed at Luke, and he did not want to lose another person he loved so dearly. Vader had so much love in him for Luke he was willing to die just to see him with his own eyes. He wanted to look at Luke just like he used to Look at Padme.

This scene is overanalyzed due to the prequels. Many assumptions have been made that in this moment, Anakin is remembering that he is the Chosen One, remembering what the Jedi told him, remembering what Padme said, and realizing this has been his destiny all along. NO. This scene is the unleashing of pure parental instinct, a demonstration of the power of a parent’s love for their child, a reveal that not even decades’ worth of evil servitude and destruction could truly make Vader completely indifferent toward his own flesh and blood. This is a father unable to let his son die, prioritizing the safety of his child over all else - including the cause he has supported for 20 years, the position of power he holds, the reputation he has built across the Galaxy, the master to whom he once sold his soul, and even his own life. Anakin is not thinking about fulfilling a destiny here or completing a prophecy. He’s not thinking about himself at all. He’s sacrificing his life here to ensure his son will live. His only driving force here is his pure love for Luke, a love so strong that it does something nobody ever thought possible: it breaks the hold of the dark side. This is not a man who is thinking about saving the galaxy, who is consciously aware that his actions are doing just that. This is a man who is choosing his family over everything else, who is giving up everything to ensure that this monster will never hurt his family again.

This makes me think, Anakin deep down is still a boy that robed from his childhood, yes he did some mistake (and yes i remember he killed childrens) but all he need is people to care and people that care about him. Obi-Wan was too attached to Jedi Way (in which I believe not 100% good either) and abandoned Anakin in his most low. Then there was luke, Never met Anakin in his life before (only Vader) and yet he still accept the father he has and still believe there is a good in him (luke still have HOPE for Anakin, his dearest father). Indeed.
Fittingly, Anakin's funeral was attended only by Luke, at that point the only person who could see all the layers of Anakin as a human and accept his father.
For the rebellion, it would be a "ding dong the witch is dead" moment, for the empire the good riddance to a traitor and a terrible boss.
Just maybe Han could be somewhat respectful at the funeral and even then is because of his relative lack of emotional connection of hatred against Vader and for compassion to Luke rather than Anakin (plus, Han was a smuggler so perhaps he's somewhat more aware of the saying: "To those who hasn't sinned, throw the first rock") as Leia still remember Vader as a monster (sadly, not that she's unjustified doing so).

The best part of this is that Anakin Skywalker´s/Vader´s arc is completed. The prophecy said he would bring balance to the force.. and that he did. Amazing writing

I like to think that Anakin was always the chosen one, but Luke he was the redeemer. Without Luke, Anakin would not have been able to fulfill his destiny as the chosen one. Whether Luke or Anakin were the chosen one, Luke was willing to die in the belief that his father still had good in him. And Anakin (not Vader) saw this. And in seeing this Anakin could fulfill his destiny. It’s almost as if the prophecy which could have been misread as Yoda said, was always to be fulfilled by Anakin, but by the actions of Luke.

After seeing his emotional dialogue with Obi-Wan, this scene doesn't sadden me anymore. It makes me happy. Anakin is finally freed by his love for his son, and Luke replies in earnest, forgiving his father and wanting to save him. Yet Anakin still dies, but as the end shows...he's in peace. With Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan has forgiven him as well. Gosh, its so beautiful.

This scene, this 4 minute scene, changes Vader completely. Showing the fact he is just a man who was left in an miserable, uncomfortable, and vulnerable suit. He wasn't always a ruthless killer, he once had a good side, somone who wanted to help everyone. It seems Vader wanted to change one last time for his son.
