@@matvangogh Grievous' cybernetics increase his strength and speed many times over and give him blaster resistant armor, as well as rotating wrist joints which augment the angles of attack that he can come from (think of the limitations of a human wrist joint, now imagine a human wrist joint could swivel 360 degrees), as well as giving him the iconic spinning attacks that can surprise and intimidate opponents. Not only that but his cybernetics also enhance his brain, augmenting his reflexes to a height which could rival some jedis precognition. On top all of that he is a master tactician, and was a greatly skilled warrior before his enhancements and training from count dooku. Also, he has four arms (four lightsabers) and was often accompanied by multiple magnaguards (the electrostaff wielding droids).
Grievous may have four lightsabers, but he doesn't make good use of them. He fights like someone with two arms. Swinging two blades through the same arc side-by-side isn't any more lethal or hard to block than doing it with one, and the spinning blades are only threatening if you don't realize you're just advertising a clear and predictable space where the blades WON'T be (i.e. at the center of the spin, where the hand is holding the unprotected handle of the saber).
Homie had 4 spinning lightsabers. Even without the force, whirling them around can block shots. That's why obi wan destroyed some of his arms before even attempting this kind of thing.
Lore says he's built to tank shots from starships, so the assumption is Ben isn't just using physical strength to pry the damn plates open, but is going all-out with the Force _and_ muscles because he was _that_ in need for an opening. If Grevious was still 100% meatbag-- well, given the other feats of telekinesis we've seen Jedi do, I don't imagine it'd be too hard for some force-user to do a Kratos (or a Doomguy) and straight _rip someone in half._ One of the biggest feats of 'magical strength' I remember from old Extended Universe had a myth of a Sith who _tore two _*_stars_*_ open,_ so the resulting mini-supernova took out a spacefleet that was on his ass.
The new Clone Wars show kind of ruined Greivous. In the old timeline if a jedi had an encounter with him he would make sure they wouldn't survive for round 2 because shock and surprise were a major part of his fighting style and allowing a jedi to learn how he operated would give them a huge advantage in any potential rematch
obi wan opened his chest cage to expose his weak points before he fired it. he also decided to kick a metal leg. so not like he was setting it all up to get a shot in.
@@Xunkundoesn’t mean the plates there can open, the armor may be strong but I doubt it’s super hard to open the plates, probably so medical droids can work on him when he’s damaged
They nerfed poor Grievous so hard. Dooku was one of the best duellists in the series and Grievous trained with him. He didn't have access to the Force, but he had cybernetic augmentation and multiple lightsabers. Of course, traditional lightsaber attacks when you're a creature like Grievous is probably not the way to go. What Grievous did with the spinning blades at the start was more like what I'd expect from the whole fight sequence. Plus, I never understood why no one ever pressed the advantage who had at least two sabers. If you've got a saber lock with one saber versus one, why not direct the extra saber in a side cut at the undefended part of the other duellist? And in Grievous's case with 4 blades you would think you would occupy Kenobi's lightsaber with 1/4 of your blades, then use the other 3 to hit kenobi at 3 other different angles. He couldn't defend from all of them at once without resorting either to using the force or to being fast enough with his own saber to reflect the onslaught of 4 different sabers
Да, это не очень умно в плане постановки сцены. На самом деле, фехтование с четырехруким противником, оснащенным таким опасным оружием - закончилось бы на первой же атаке. Кеноби пришлось бы либо постоянно убегать, либо применять телекинез.
Plot armor sadly. Grievous would've easily stomped, not to mention how Kenobi should've been way more hurt if not outright dead from unarmed attacks that happened. His only chance would've been The Force, not fencing.
And to think master Windu already force crushing General grievous' torso, if that were cannon, made General grievous that much more vulnerable. Canon or not, grievous was such a badass in the clones cartoon series
I know this video is about the fight scene, but the detail of the Clones going to melee with near-dead droids is awesome, like the one who casually backhands a B1 with the DC-15A - one handed, no less
In the book, Obi-wan becomes one with the servomotors working inside Grevious mechanical frame through the force, he can anticipate his moves and he readjusts the mechanisms just enough to give him a slight advantage.
General Grievous: You fool. I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku. Obi-Wan: What a funny coincidence. I trained the man who killed Count Dooku.
One of my favorite fight scenes I always think about the times Obi has made a comment to Anakin about being brutal but legit just ripped a man's (mainly robot) rib cage open to shoot him in the heart
I remember watching this movie before I went completely blind. The site of General grievous holding for blue and green light sabers was one of the most terrifying. The sound that the light sabers make as he’s spinning them and approaching Kenobi though is terrifying. I only realize just how scary it actually was after I lost my vision. Listen to that part with your eyes closed, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. It’s scary. Lol.
Meanwhile in his lightsaber fight, he could have used the force to make another giant chunk of the ceiling fall on him or threw him straight off the cliff with the force lmao
The novelization gave Obi-Wan the best line here. Grievous say, "I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!" And Obi-Wan replies, "What a coincidence. I trained the man who killed Count Dooku."
When General Grievous said I been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku. Obi-Wan should have said to General Grevious oh yeah, I trained the guy who killed Count Dooku I have the upper hand.
From an apprentice to becoming mentor before attaining the rank of a Master are the things that well defined great Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi. Seeing and watching how very young Obi Wan Kenobi trained from being a Padawan of the great Legendary Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn and progressed throughout his knighthood years as another apprentice's mentor and eventually acquiring tonnes of knowledge and experiences in life and battle to greater philosophy and light then finally rising to the rank of the highly recognized and respect by others as a Jedi Master himself, whom became as equally good and famed as his late Master Qui Gon just made this whole Star Wars saga a very legendary classic even in present days and many more years and generations to come ! How words can't explain enough to describe such beauty and transition from a mindful disciple to a well seasoned and wisely experienced Master Warrior just powers one's mind and spirit to another level. Obi Wan will always be loved and respected by many whom lived through his days of countless greatness and peril and I love it!

Grevious's game was killing Jedi and collecting their lightsaber as bounty. Obi Wan Kanobi made him look like a gimmick that didn’t last. Obj Wan was a Gary Stew level character, and a likeable one too....
Man, it was a real let down to see Grevious in this movie after seeing him in the 2D Clone Wars. He was so cool in that show, he countered Jedi by striking such fear in them that they couldn't use the force properly and he was more than a match for a Jedi Duelist with just 1 Light saber, even though he primarily used 2. He was terrifying, cunning and unstoppable. Then here in his first appearance, he just runs away and lets his underlyings get killed, then fucks off the ship. Then after he retreats from a battle he lost and goes into hiding on Utapau, he talks more shit and sounds like an idiot (oh you were trained by Dooku? Count Dooku has been dead since the start of the movie and he was killed by Obi Wan's apprentice. Oh he's doomed with or without his army? Bold words for a coward who is hiding after he lost a huge battle). Then here, he loses the light sabre fight quickly and runs away once Obi Wan uses his force powers, then finally he gets killed BY A FUCKING BLASTER. Imagine if Darth Maul got killed with a blaster. The guy was such a joke that his character was practically pointless.

@E_Hammy the fact that this went over your head says a lot. Bet you pay for Disney plus 😂😂😂
0:42 the "bY cOuNt dOOOUkuu" line sounds so smoothly satifacting with voice sound effect. Makes you forget the intentional nerf to the character.
Dooku's training of him didn't exactly age well in the end then.
@@G.L.999Dooku was inmensely powerful, to the point where even Sideous realized he had to be careful keeping him due his whole mixed knowledge in both Jedi & Sith's ways. But anaking by disarming him (literally) proved to be the rule of third even so. Obi Wan on the other hand cannot be deafeated by mandatory plot armour plus bionic tuberculosis making any extra training useless, yet his wisdom along overmilked cannon material with Grivious compensates it more than enough.
This fight was so dope. Grievous simultaneously wielding 4 light sabers is such a cool visual
For someone who called blasters "random and clumsy" Kenobi has clearly had practice; that was five out of five shots DIRECTLY in the heart with perfect accuracy.
To be fair, the chest is a much easier target than the head.
Experienced but hated using blasters. I have to hand it to Obi Wan he is a jedi of pure class
kicks evil robot’s metal leg.
is surprised that his shin is in excruciating pain afterwards.
That's gotta hurt when Obi-Wan kicked General Grievous's leg.
Grevious is one of those characters where they are so cool and powerful, they get nerfed the next time they appear. 2003 was PEAK Grievous.
genndy tartakovsky's series of star wars microsode arent canon. But yeah, that grievous is insanely OP.
@@focuspugilist673
Not canon?
They seem to line up perfectly with the events of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
The show even ends where Revenge of the Sith begins
Imagine losing with four lightsabers.
This duel was literally quality vs quantity
Skill issue
I never understood how Grievous could defeat any jedi . he is not a force sensitive individual.
Years of dealing with Grevious, endless lightsaber fights, and no one ever thought to just shoot the bastarrd. 🤣
If Grevious was still 100% meatbag-- well, given the other feats of telekinesis we've seen Jedi do, I don't imagine it'd be too hard for some force-user to do a Kratos (or a Doomguy) and straight _rip someone in half._
One of the biggest feats of 'magical strength' I remember from old Extended Universe had a myth of a Sith who _tore two _*_stars_*_ open,_ so the resulting mini-supernova took out a spacefleet that was on his ass.
Obi wan pov:
I just watched dear general punch a dent in a starship
Imma kick him
*5 seconds later*
THAT WAS UNWISE!
Right I say he fought better at the 2003 “Dexter laboratory” creator of clone wars 😂 the fight choreography in that show was *chef kiss* 😘 amazing

“Hello there” 7 months later
*"Hello there"*
Why bother mentioning it? Its over played by this point.
Nobody mention it because everyone knows of it
Hello there
And to think master Windu already force crushing General grievous' torso, if that were cannon, made General grievous that much more vulnerable. Canon or not, grievous was such a badass in the clones cartoon series
It kinda is still canon because you can hear him coughing in this movie.

Which books are these?

“Becoming one with the servomotors” that’s why I hate these novelizations. They have their moments but this is so goofy
Best star wars novel in my opinion. Even better if you read it before the movie even comes out lol
FABULOUS fight sequence. I love Grievous' old school villain dialogue.
"So uncivilized." Interesting that that 'uncivilized' weapon just saved your ass!!
The "deleted scene" version of this is absolutely bonkers. It's like a rough render of how it was supposed to go and it's like a fever dream.
0:00 THE "HELLO THERE" IS SO ICONIC
3:56 General Grievous be like:
*"Hey, dont look at my organs, silly fool😳😡"*
General Grievous: You fool. I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku.
Obi-Wan: What a funny coincidence. I trained the man who killed Count Dooku.
Love the one liner in the end like he didn’t just have a fight to the death lol
Important lesson for the villain to learn. Never face Obi Wan hanging from a balcony. your skill increases drastically😂. 4:13
One of my favorite fight scenes I always think about the times Obi has made a comment to Anakin about being brutal but legit just ripped a man's (mainly robot) rib cage open to shoot him in the heart
😂😂😂grevious running is so goofy 2:01
I remember watching this movie before I went completely blind. The site of General grievous holding for blue and green light sabers was one of the most terrifying. The sound that the light sabers make as he’s spinning them and approaching Kenobi though is terrifying. I only realize just how scary it actually was after I lost my vision. Listen to that part with your eyes closed, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. It’s scary. Lol.
Just saw that for the first time now but did anyone else check the clones hitting the droids' head on 2:26 ? 😂
Grievous' spinning lightsabers couldn't get past Obiwan defense.
LoL
Actually funny enough in the book it said grievous did push through Obi Wans defense

Grievous: “I’m just kidding, shoot him”

3:54 - I love Grievious's sudden reaction like "You Pervert."
And thus the legendary "Hello there" was born
The novelization gave Obi-Wan the best line here. Grievous say, "I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!" And Obi-Wan replies, "What a coincidence. I trained the man who killed Count Dooku."
When General Grievous said I been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku. Obi-Wan should have said to General Grevious oh yeah, I trained the guy who killed Count Dooku I have the upper hand.
He literally said that in the novelisation.
“I was trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!”
“Really? I trained the man who killed him…”
@Shake-Off-Fear Obi Won should of said it in the movie.
3:56 Grievous: *angry cyborg noises*
4:33 IM ON FIRE!!!!!!! In a very bad way. 🤣🤣🤣
I read it as the Kasabian song 🤣🤣
Best Star Wars scene ever. Everything is just perfect here: action, tension, humor, the character, voice and appearance of Grievous, the one liners...

The uncanny valley hits hard in this one
1:54 hollup...did he know about order 66 and palpatine being the manipulator behind everyhting?
Grievous didn't
He meant by him.
Grievous doesn’t know Palpatine is Darth Sidious at all

"Hello there!" Obiwans favorite thing to say.
Obi Wan: Hm, fun times four.😅
I love how each lightsaber has a recoil when Grievous ignites them 0:48
It’s kinda hilarious how the fight choreography peaked so much in the prequels and episode 3 especially.
I swear I keep replaying him saying “hello there” 😂
I"m wondering, when all the droids were taking aim at him, if Grievous ordered them all to shoot - what was Obi-wan's plan then?
just like the clone wars season 1 episode 4, in which Kenobi defeated them. Grievous knows Kenobi's techniques and decided to fight him himself (he defeated him 3 times and therefore decided that he could do it alone)

2D Clone Wars was over-the-top nonsense probably dreamed up by 13-year-olds. The fights in there were so far removed from reality it wasn't even funny - even for a fictitious sci-fi universe.
@@AGH331 Well yeah, that's what made them cool. They're absolutely ridiculous but they're really well done and fun to watch.
I don't expect to see Mace Windu take down a droid army solo with his bare fists, nor did I expect Grevious to take down the whole clone army on his own, what I expected was for him to put up a decent fight, for his opponents to be terrified of him, and for him to be competent. Instead he was just a joke. This is a guy who has a ton of lightsabres because he kills so many Jedi, supposedly, yet can barely last 30 seconds against Kenobi in a light sabre fight despite having 4 lightsabres.
In the novelization, when Grievous boasts he'd been trained by Count Dooku, Obi Wan retorts *he* trained the man who *killed* Count Dooku.
I’d forgotten that he dropped his lightsaber. Poor form, Obi Wan! 😂
