Brings back so many wonderful childhood memories of going to Fairyland. When my twin boys were young, we took them there too. I’m 54 years old and still have my Fairyland Magic Key.
I am 56 years old.... and I'm pretty sure I have my magic key too.... I just need to go look for it. 😊
There is something so endearing and charming about storybook parks, they always make me super happy! Thank you for sharing this one with us. 🥰
i lived in Oakland for 10 years and my job was just on the other side of Fairyland and I would walk past it almost everyday. Watching this video brought me a lot of joy because I sadly had to move from Oakland due to the increased rent. I left my heart in Oakland and there it shall remain 🤟.
Wow u look marvelous
We can go back to Oakland if u like
My parents used to take me to Children's Fairyland in Oakland back in the early 1960's. Lots of great memories. Thanks for sharing.
I'm in Oakland and I am so bummed that adults cannot enjoy the park without a child in attendance. Not fair !! Thank you for bringing back some wonderful childhood memories for me ! I so enjoyed this vlog ! ❤
I love places like this. The Enchanted Forest in Oregon is similar. There are a couple rides you could ride there too, and a lot of weird kitschy scenes to walk through. There’s a haunted house that stays open the entire time the park is open. It’s cheesy, but fun because there’s no such thing as a truly bad haunted house. I hope to get back there again someday.
I am glad you got to film the park.thanks again 😀
I’ve lived in the Bay Area of California my whole life (I still do) and I have yet to ever go to Fairyland. Hopefully one day. I appreciate this video very much
A very well kept story park! The displays and figures are well cared for!
Were you watching the same video I was? 😆 most were rusted, and in desperate need of a fresh paint job!
6:04 " Let's go Jacob, great Adventures await!" It's so cool to see an old throwback attraction (that even inspired Walt Disney) that is still operating so children of all ages can enjoy the timeless stories.
So cool that they let you film!! Awesome video
I really love the idea of getting to use your own magical key to unlock elements of the park. That would have blown my mind as a kid! So great to see places like this still operating!
This place looks so cute!
By the way, Mrs Tiggywinkles is one of Beatrix Potter's characters and she's a hedgehog 🦔 Here in the UK we have a place called Tiggywinkles and it's a wildlife hospital which helps all British wildlife that are injured. They have a visitor's centre as well, and it's such a wonderful place that does incredible work to help our animal friends 😊❤️
I still have my Fairyland key that my parent got me when they took me there in the late 70’s. Now I take my kids to Fairyland!
Now we know you are a big kid at heart. Loved the narrative and walk about.
there was a hidden mickey in the rabbit tunnel. It was fun and soothing.
I think it is great you are going to Fairy parks. We visited many as kids. Lovely video thanks
Thank you Jacob. This brought back memories of when I was a child exploring Children's Fairyland with my family. It was always a special day when we visited. I loved this place.
The fish footman and frog were from the scene in the book of them delivering a message to the Duchess for her to play croquet with the Queen. The baby that is a pig was the Duchess’s baby , it turned into a pig. The Disney cartoon left out most of the actual book.
Great research on the Walt Disney visit! He visited both San Fran’s Playland-By-The-Beach and Oakland’s Fairyland when he was in the area.
I worked near there for many years on 20th and Harrison. I often went over to Lake Merritt and walked past this park. Not having ever had kids, I havent tree. Inside it since I was little myself. Glad you are showing it.
My boyfriend and i love watching your videos to find places for adventure and we're defiantly putting this place on our list
I loved the carousel with different coloured horses and also the cute donkeys. The Alice in Wonderland displays were cool too. Thanks again Jacob and best wishes ☀️
I lived in Alameda as a kid, so this brings back so many memories. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
same! even after we moved to fremont we still would visit regularly
I don’t know if my comments were influential at all but I’m so happy you went to my former workplace :)
My home town. The last time I was there was at least 48 years ago! Lol. It’s changed some. Great video Jacob.
Memories of my childhood came flooding back…thank you so very much to bringing my favorite memories to my present🥰. 💚💚💚💕💗💞💖
Thank you for visiting!! I haven't been back since I was a wee tot....
I hope I can go to some of these someday! Thank you for the positive content! It always helps me be in a better mood!
JACOB, don't get too close to the 🦆! Remember what happened with the 🐪? LOL
Frank Oz worked at the Children's Fairyland puppet theater in the 1950s.
This one seems more geared to toddlers.. I would have been bored to tears on this trip.
Always enjoyed this park, highlighted by beautiful Lake Merritt.
Omg. I went there in the 60's as a kid. I didn't know it was still around. I am going back to the Bay area for my vacation this year. I have to go!
Yeah its awesome. Now you can go inside without a child. There is even a place where the adults just sit there and stare at the children. You might like it
Happily ever after
I hope places like this can make it.
Looks like a fantastic park for young kids to visit. I hope they normally have more park visitors so they can stay in business. I remember the magic keys to turn on the audio samples from when I was a kid.
wow what a treasure, never heard of it though bay area for life... thanks
Thank you for making this video. This park was a big part of my childhood. So Many visits and birthday parties. In the 1960's it was a magical place.
I went there in the early and mid 1980’s. I loved it so much.
So cute!
Glad you got to see a oldie but goodie.
I LOVE these old school Storyland/ Fairy Tale Theme Parks when I was a kid. I used to go to Storyland in Egg Harbor back years ago when I was a kid. Hope you have a great day Jake!
@@jenniferthede5964 They sure do Jen!
I used to work in Oakland, no idea that Fairyland was still open!
Hey Jacob 🙋🏽 I'm glad that you are doing better today. And nothing else is missing.😃 Enjoy the rest of your day ‼️🙋🏽👍🏽.
15:17 I made up a nursery rhyme for this vehicle: Jolly Trolley, Plump and Lolly, riding down the tracks, with the engineer in front, and the conductor in back, with all its clicks and clacks.
that's a very impressive policy to prevent any issues. but glad you worked it out.
You just thought those were kids. They were old people until they drank that water.
Awesome Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Lived in this area my entire life and have always wondered what it looked like on the inside! If you ever make your way out to Oregon, you should check out Enchanted Forest
We went there when I was little. Thanks Jacob!
All the classic nursery rhymes; as a kid it’s hilarious 😂 and would learn it school
This episode is a quotable goldmine!
In Oakland of all places.
I lived at 29th and broadway but up on the hill(I looked up the location to see if where I lived was still there, it is!) In the 90's. Never knew about this place. It's really cute :) My ex and. I worked at Peets coffee and tea, he was a driver and I worked at the shipping plant. I also worked at the Whole Foods in Berkeley. Loved it there. Thanks for visiting my old hood!❤👍🏾
The carousel is the Gryphon and Mock Turtle. The white Chess knight. The dodo , walrus etc.
Started in 2019 worked here for 3 years i loved it cause i got to see the same kids again
Looks like it used to say "No gun play after sunset".
Jake, thanks so much for featuring Children's Fairyland!
My folks used to take my brother and I here when we were kids. We have fond memories of this place.
That dragon at the entrance used to have a long tongue made of leather, like a belt, and kids would pull the tongue to hear the dragon roar and welcome them to the park. Looks like they list the tongue and didn't replace it! I had wondered how you got in there without a kid! It's great that they let you in to film. If not for that restriction, my brother and I probably would have gone there to see it again as adults. Thanks again!
Greetings from Fairyland, Linda! You're absolutely right, Ching Lung the Happy Dragon did have a leather tongue. We had to remove it because of Covid, but we hope to be able to put it back soon. I also wanted to let you know that we have several "grown ups only" events throughout the year. The next one is in July and then several more in September. Here's the event info for July. I hope you and your brother can come visit soon! fairyland.org/events-and-performances/events-for-grownups/
Your fairy tale park videos are my favorite content from you! I see you were in Oregon five days ago. Are you planning to visit the Enchanted Forest in Salem?
That theme park looks amazing
Thanks enjoyed replay 😘
I love your dad on your wedding night said dont trust foxes ahahahahah i swear i will never forget that and if my son gets married im going to do the same 🤣🤣
I've taken my kids there. I miss those days.
Thank you for all the smiles, Jacob. I was so glad to see Oakland's Fairyland was still open. The last time I was there, I was still small enough to ride all the rides. The keys looked like elephants then with the key part the elephant's trunk. Or was that the magic key at the Oakland Zoo? I forget. I'm so glad you stopped there... And they let you film.
Ever been to the Rosacrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose? They have the biggest collection of Egyptian artifacts on the west coast and a fabulous art gallery too. Oh... And a reproduction of an Egyptian tomb..... Hopefully they will let you film there. When I lived in the Bay area, I practically lived in the museum too.... Lol. Thank you again for visiting the Oakland Fairyland.... It was so good to see again. ❤️
I brought my kids to this place once telling them it was Disneyland. They have not left the house since.
I will love to see you with a mustache.
I'm glad you are shedding light on these types of places. They are a work of art and sadly becoming less common.
Mr. Carpetbagger..... If the Oakland Exploratorium is still open, you might go there before leaving the Bay Area. I was going to suggest the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, but Jason Scarred says they don't allow filming there. You and Jen might enjoy a film free day of fun there ... As much as you both love horror movies, the Winchester Mystery House would be right up your alley. 😊
They have boxes like that in the Oakland zoo
Yep
Wow I’ve been there so many times when I lived in Oakland I’m glad it’s still there
I wish movie of fairytale theme park
YESS HE DID IT!!!
Bayyyy area❤❤😊
7:58 that's a puddle duck from Beatrix Potter
So beautiful love it so much 😍❤️😍 see you tomorrow 💐🤩❤️
Keep up the awesome videos 🥰
It's a briiiiiick houwsssse
This was a pretty cool throwback park
adorable place! 🍄🐛🐇🌳
Another old fashion park.
I think that “No Pun play after sunset” had the G changed to a P for family friendly reading.
I used to take my daughter there , brings back fun memories.
Did you visit the Johnny Appleseed Cafe ?
Hello Jacob did you know that some of Dragons appear in fairytale like sleeping beauty and a character transform into a Dragon in Sword of the Sword .
I lived in Oakland all my life and could never get inside that place to check it out.
OMG YOU CAME TO OAKLAND?! I’m like 10 minutes away!! I wish i knew!!!
I’m 21 now and always wanted to go as a toddler, never got to, so I’m glad to see a little tour of it!!!
The Pinocchio story started with just a few notes of "Little Wooden Head" from Disney's film lol
Hey my name is Jill I pushed Jack down the hill😊
A lot of the Alice in wonderland stuff was from the book.
For the "no pun play after sunset", it looks like the "p" was overwriting a "g". Is that the case that it used to say "No gun play after sunset" and was altered?
I believe that’s gemima puddle duck
you should go to storybook park near owen sound Ontario if you want to jake
Poor bearded dragon.
I found your comment about the Fox and Ducks being told to you by your father on your wedding night so FUNNY.Made my day.
Just here to leave a thumbs up
I know someone who collects those keys in all different colors!
What’s the next attraction im located in Oakland the alameda county fair is out here give it a try
Awesome 😎
Wow that is amazing. I love that Medivel, Fariy tale theme style. Especially in Theme Parks. And since Disney is all about Fairy Tales and Story in there films like snow white, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, ect it makes since
what is the storyland with all the animatronics that he hasn't been to yet?
