That tooth pick amusement park is totally awesome. You can't get enough laughing from Laughing Sal or Jolly Jack. They both scared me back in the mid 60s as a small kid.

    The laughing automaton is the same as the one in the 1951 version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Alastair Sim! Just a different costume! This movie was an accurate recreation of Victorian life, (Dicken's granddaughter was an advisor) so your laughing friend is looking good for his age! 😀

    Love old style arcades, the Baker at the start was originally a Gumball machine as he'd 'Bake' you a sweet treat.
    That real odd one was a bit out of adjustment, basically you'd see one message clearly (without the top of the next showing) and then it would flip to the next quickly while the vest closed so it looked like Magic.
    I do remember Laughing Sailors being very common here and I think but can't be certain that Blackpool still has a Sal, a veiwer up that way might be able to confirm as Yarmouth is more my hunting grounds.

  • @MiladyMacabre
    @MiladyMacabre Год назад +2

    I believe the bald man opening his jacket is an antique store window display automaton, designed to attract curious people to both enter the shop and purchase something and to potentially bring in antiques they had and wished to sell to the shop owner. I'm glad you enjoy Laffing Sal (did you know there was a male counterpart named Laffing Sam?) and Jolly Jack Tar, the Laughing Sailor. It's too bad his eyes were frozen in a side glance. They are meant to be shifting from side to side as the figure moves vigorously about.

I believe she was near an animated Skeleton at a player piano. Alas, Crystal Beach no longer exists and perhaps this Canadian Laughing Sal is housed elsewhere. Please google Crystal Beach - you would have loved it! It also had a fairy bizarre Penny Arcade. Warmest Regards!

    I've seen that Uncle Fester machine, but an older style. The one you played was branded with "The New Addams Family", which was a TV reboot from the late 90s. The one I remember was branded with the logo of the 1991 movie version, and even had the Fester figure modeled after Christopher Lloyd. Considering the series has been around since the 60s, I wonder if there is an even older one modeled after Jackie Coogan.

    The Pampanito was the stand in for the submarine in the remake of Operation Petticoat. Of course, libery ships like the O'Brian were famed for supplying the allies during WWII. The Germans couldn't sink them faster than Kaiser could build them. Both ships are fasinating to tour.

It used to be located below The Cliff 🏠 as seen in The 👸🏼 Diaries. I only recognized Laughing Sal at The Cliff 🏠 even though she wasn't moving when my dad and my 3rd Grade class saw her that day. In fact, we saw her in the window of the basement of The Cliff 🏠.
