I met Phillip a long time ago at Greg’s apartment. It was right after Bobby left and Altazane Giles was singing on the Switch album. He walked in, introduced himself, told me and my my his brother had just won the Grammy .. the sat down at Greg’s Fender Piano 🎹 and started singing a Switch song 🎶 I remember feeling his voice through my body and getting goosebumps.. this was 1981 .. I was 16 and auditioning for Switch … Greg wanted me but my mom didn’t let me .. because of the Drugs Greg honestly said they used here and there. Phillip was then and still is one of my favorite singers and he was genuinely nice
Thank you for clearing up what happened with James. He's missed! Switch was groundbreaking. I first heard them in '79. Philip is an amazing talent, but also a very smart man. His explanation about Bobby DeBarge was respectful. Philip is multi-talented/gifted (wow, he plays by ear) & still sounds good!
Great interview, Phil is so down to earth like James was and they both answer questions unlike some artists. Cindy did great, she did not talk over the guest. She did great in my opinion!
@@CodyCole80 El is the closest to Bobby and that would be the closest they could get to putting Switch together entirely. I guess..but yeah you right he does the songs just fine on his own.
That would be a great idea. That road work might be too hard on El full time (because of his past addiction issues). But that would be nice if they could.
I always thought Philip was a DeBarge or a cousin his features blend when them the hair and all ,my goodness he😮James Ingram’s brother Whom I love and my best friend husband looked just Like James .😢 this was a very interesting interview told about everything so comfortable listening to Phillip Ingram a wonderful Guy ❤😊

It's amazing how many records Philip has sang on! It's prolific. One of my favorites is Penny Ford's 1993 single "I'll Be There"! That song should have been a hit! The background vocals gave it so much energy! I wish He and his brother James would have done more music together. =)

Check out Phillip's vocals on "Without You In My Life"! If you haven't already heard it, I think you'll like it!
An OUTSTANDING GENTLEMEN in the music industry! 😄
"you pulled the switch" is their best song IMO. And Phil SANG that song!
It would had been nice if El Debarge would had taken Bobby's place when Switch came back years later to sing There never be
Bunny DeBarge said Bobby was going to take El's place when he left the group but she wouldn't elaborate on why it didn't work.
I saw El in concert yeeeeears ago, and he did some Switch songs and sounded just like Bobby and didn’t miss a note.
El has substance abuse he couldn't take over for Bobby.
He know he aint Bobby. To him, it would maybe been disrespectful. Bobby was that great to El.
@@Jamescampbell4661 El has been clean and sober for at least a few years. Her is performing and traveling. Gained weight. Very happy thru God.....
