Your level of OCD is on par with mine. I have used multiple of your videos as reference while working on my 2013 grand sport. Keep these videos coming :)
First and only time in 15 years of watching YT videos that I have seen someone actually use the FSM. 👏👍 (factory service manual) So many mistakes can be avoided using the proper reference materials, right down to the fluid type and quantity. Props for demonstrating that here. Also, I knew when you opened the drawer to your sockets and ratchets that you are my people. 😎 VERY well done tutorial start to finish. Thank you, from one lifelong car guy to another. 🍺 ✌
Tech at the gm dealer I go to said you have to turn the car in, have it in gear, and get it up to temperature. Then check the trans fluid level. Have you ever heard that?
I highly doubt they do that at the dealer. that would require them to do the fluid change, take it off the lift, drive it around until its up to temp, put it back on the lift and check the level again. I went based off the book and what volume it lists. was pretty much spot on so I cant see it changing much with temperature. I also did not see that mentioned in the service manual.
@@rusilver2 Interesting I had not considered that. I always leave the fill plug in when I remove the drain in order to maintain a seal and allow the fluid to drain slower. Then I can pull the fill plug once I have everything setup and allow it to drain faster. Maybe best practice would be to just crack the plugs loose first to make sure they are not stuck. Thanks for sharing
Ok, but yah really need to be usin a garden sprayer to transfer the fluids........I've called Both Valvoline and Mobil and Both told me to use Delco in the diff....you don't need the little bottle of limited slip anymore the newer Delco has it in it..........also some say to do a bunch of figures 8s after diff fluid change, goog it hard if yah want....
So i skipped around a liitle toward the end so sorry if you mentioned it and i missed it but my manual states that if your diff has a cooler, like my C6Z06 does, than after filling you are supposed to start the car and drive with rear wheels up in the air, 10 MPH in 2nd gear for 1min. then shut off car and top off fliud. Or just drive around a bit and next time you have it up in the air top it off.
Interesting I did not see that in the procedure. could you share where this was mentioned. I plan to put it back on the lift to recheck the trans leak I had so I will probably check both the levels while I am there. The rear diff also took almost 3 full quarts so I would imagine the level should be fine. If it only took 2.5 or something I maybe would expect to need a top up.
@@southfloridagearheads it was in my 2007 shop manual. Maybe there was a design change. When I did mine it didn't take a full 3 quarts when I 1st filled it.
@@lag1791 could be, this is an 2009. I think the trans, rear and axles are different in the 08+ cars. Im sure its still a good idea to check after a few miles to make sure it didnt drop after circulating.

Bro, your channel is super informative, keep up the great content.
I own a C6 Zo6 2009 I really enjoy your videos keep it up gr1e1at job,1
thank you, new upgrades coming soon stay tuned!
I remember that sick car! What a sound!
We need to get a video together!
What did you use to clean up the transmission? Great video! I couldn't find any other source on how tight to torque the sensor back on. Thanks!
any degreaser will be fine. something that evaporates quickly will help.
@@southfloridagearheads thanks! After you added the tape to the temp sensor, did it prevent any more leaking from the transmission?

The tech was probably talking about the automatic transmission. Manuals don't require to be up to temp after a trans fluid change
What prompted the change to Amsoil fluids? Just curious, I'm about to flush and refill mine.
I have a dealership with them. I've also done independent testing with their engine oil and have been very impressed with the oil sample analysis
@@southfloridagearheads Good to know. Did you use their signature series or torque-drive? And obviously working well?
Nice work! Awesome video!
Did you consider using the mobil 1 LV atf HP? It's for high performance and said to better protect.
that looks like a great option. I would run that one for my next oil change for sure.
Has anyone ran this yet?
is the mobile 1 tranny and diff fluid pretty equal as the ac delco oem fluid im thinking of using the mobile one aswell.
How did the mobile 1 75-90 work? I’ve heard people’s differentials start making noise of mobile 1
no issues
@@southfloridagearheads cool thanks
Thoughts on redline D4 fluid?
I've actually switched everything over to Amsoil since this video. haha. I've heard redline Fluids are good
@South Florida Gearheads I'm about to use amsoil in my xlrv thanks for this video
always pull the fill plug first
care to elaborate on that?
@@southfloridagearheads in case its stuck you won't leave it empty - of course this point is moot if you have a spare vehicle

is that atf 4?
hey do you have to run the car in 2nd gear for a min thats what i was told to do on a manual c6.after a diff and tranny fluid change.
there is nothing the factory service manual about that so im not sure. another common one of the figure 8 turns. but again its not in the book.
Does the atf matter if I have a manual transmission? I see everyone running atf…
yes it's the correct fluid. but I've since switched all my Fluids over to Amsoil.
Why the switch from Mobil 1 to Amsoil?
