    Great video Mike! Wish I lived in your neck of the woods so we can do mine! 😀 I had a painful experience at my local dealership…I am seriously considering a lift for my garage to do my own work. Look forward in seeing ur next video on adding the 2 additional quarts!

    For a C8 Corvette, GM recommends a transmission filter change at around 7,500 miles, essentially prioritizing a filter change over a full transmission flush, as the initial filter change is crucial for optimal transmission performance in the early stages of ownership;.
    Key points about C8 Corvette transmission maintenance:
    Filter change priority:
    GM specifies that the transmission filter should be changed as close to 7,500 miles as possible.
    Fluid change interval:
    After the initial filter change at 7,500 miles, subsequent transmission fluid changes should be done every 22,500 miles.
    Consider driving conditions:
    If you frequently track your C8 Corvette, more frequent transmission fluid checks and potential filter changes may be necessary.

    Just did mine today, talking w a Chevy engineer, the flush is not required.. so don’t let people tell you otherwise.. for less than 100 bucks and an hour and a half time, a pretty easy job.. I used ramps and had plenty of room.. the lift is a nice luxury!! 😊

    Lock-tight lol .... OK , I was wondering why the ratchet was struggling to wind those bolts out
    the reason you had oil all over the bottom is they didnt want to take them off either 😬

    Yes, pretty piss poor job from the dealer leaving that mess under there. How would they know that it just might catch fire spilling oil all over the place!

    WAIT ! You didn’t torque those new bolts ? That’s why they give you new bolts - CAUSE you stretch bolt threads when you torque bolts - BUT YOU KNEW THAT !

    I don’t know you and your channel came up in my feed. I saw a newer video where you replaced your own DCT filter. I’m not saying this caused your problem or that you did anything wrong at all. I just don’t self-service my C8 because I don’t want GM to have any freakin’ reason to deny a warranty claim.

    $700+ for the dealer to change it…. I suppose if you spent $120k, they figure that they can hose you for maintenance. Wonder why not just put in an access panel if this has become regular maintenance! I do like your light strip on your lift, it really illuminates the underside.

    Love the lights around the perimeter of your lift. What brand did you use? Are they stuck on with tape? Great idea.

      Used 3M tape got them at Costco. They work really good as long as you don't lower the lift onto the plug lol

    Couple of things…. You don’t have to take off the back plastic cover to get the metal cover off. It’s also necessary to do the DCT flush procedure before changing the filter or you’re wasting your time. Also, you need to get a torque wrench and not just keep cranking on the filter housing bolts. Very jealous of your awesome lift and well lit garage.

      When I do mine, I won’t be able to do the flush and according to Josh Holder, chief corvette engineer, it’s not necessary.

    You didn't appear to do the DCT "flush procedure" that is supposed to be done before changing the DCT external filter. Or did you do it but know show it? If you didn't do it, you are not meeting the required maintenance procedure to maintain your warranty.

    • @mikesgarage6331
      @mikesgarage6331  9 месяцев назад

      I don't think you can do a flush without the dealer

    • @scottwinders9961
      @scottwinders9961 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@mikesgarage6331 You can...if you buy the right tool and pay the subscription fee. But, that is not the point. If you are doing the filter change yourself instead of the dealer, without doing the flush procedure, you are not following the maintenance schedule properly and GM could decline to provide a warranty repair if you have a DCT problem down the road.

      "Josh Holder said NOT critical if a DIYer to do a flush prior to DCT filter change. He said they actually have similar flush occur in normal driving".
      You can change the filter early as a DIY, and there's no harm in that.
      For the required maintenance at 7500 to maintain warranty, the flush should be done. Personally I'd have the dealer do the 7500 change so it is documented!

    Mike, you need to see my new video (@XpeedTactics) on what happened when changing my filter lol anyway I was going to install a Dodson 1 way valve to fill the dct with oil when I found a leak not sure if is tranny or the engine working on that now as soon I work with the issue I will post the video that 1-way valve is the easiest way and safer to put oil on the tranny.
