Oh my gosh!!! Finally a gel nail tutorial by an exemplary nail tech, that explains in detail what you're doing and why, you're doing it! Love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I must have watched 300 vids here on RUclips, and elsewhere, and none have been as detailed and thorough as yours has. Also helps me finalize my decision of what gel products to invest in. Great job! :)
I usually don't spam under videos but I just have to make another comment. I just tried this technique. I'm not a professional but I just made the most beautiful sculpted nails I ever had. I'm just trilled this is amazing! I can't thank you enough
Finally!!! I've probably watched over 100 videos on how to do gel nails. Very clear steps! Reduced my nail sculpting by more than half!!!! I got it perfect on the first try! Thank you so much!
I’m a licensed hairstylist and nail technician. I love gels and forms over nail tips. I dislike the glue and you are right you get debris under the nail when one uses glue. It’s really a preference choice. I’ve used so many different products but never Akzents. I’ve ordered the base and sculpting gel and love the pink pinching tool. Saw your video how you put on forms and you are one of the best in explaining how to put forms in. I have used nail tips more than forms. It’s funny in salons they use more tips over forms. Forms should be used. Tips are faster but forms are personalized to your nail. You are a very good instructor. ❤️💅
You are an excellent teacher!! I've resisted even trying gel for years now. Just started. Because of how you explained things I am able to fix the lame bad job I did a few days ago, I've only done one nail so far but the difference is amazing! Thanx so much! I did it with my non dominant hand too.
Thank you so much for this! I've been a qualified nail technician for almost one year now and after watching this I've finally done my first perfect set of extensions, they're not super bulky and this was actually the fastest I've ever done a full set :)😊
I've watched countless gel nail tutorials and this is, by far the best! After all this time, I finally found out what an apex is, and how to build one. Not one other tutorial explained that. I learned a lot and this will be my "go to" video! I'm so excited to try your method that I'm going to go do my nails right now!
I have searched and searched for a video that will help me, as a nail tech., learn how to sculpt a nail properly. Thank you so much. This was fantastic. I'll be watching it again as I learn. 👍👍
Wow! I was so pleased when you used the term "line of light" I haven't heard that since i was training! Absolutely fabulous video, so clearly explained and a beautiful nail at the end of it. Makes me actually want to use gel again as well as l&p
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this. It finally made it all make sense. I have been DIYing and screwing it all up but this literally saved me and now they look amazing. I have the best set I have ever had and it is thanks to this video. I love you thought I don’t you. I consider you a gel nail goddess! 💕🙌🏻
only very few nail techs that know how to create beautiful nails with a lovely c curve with side walls while maintaining a sleek look. Your one of the best!
This is the best video in terms of explanation that I have seen. It's clear and not confusing. There are so many products out there and it's very easy to get caught up in different products and going from site to site. thanks
I just wanted to take the time to say this is an amazing and useful video! I have a Neiru membership but I always wished they had tutorials on technical applications, not just different nailart looks. I think I speak for many nail techs. The basics are the most important! You are a gifted educator and you made it very easy to understand. I look forward to more Nail Hub tutorials!
This is by far the best tutorial I have seen. Perfectly explained. Now I can try to do this myself. Last time I did a poor job and ended up using tips.
Oh wow this is definitely the best vid I've come across! Out of all the new vids I have watched on sculpture using polygel, this tutorial takes the cup so far.
From tons and tons of videos I’ve watched! THIS! This helped a million! Glad I’ve found you! Love that I can focus on just what you are doing. No music! Relaxing and Educational! SUBBED!
FINALLY! I SUBBED!!!! This is the best tutorial, omg. Seriously, I was feeling so anxious and confused about EXACTLY what to do! Other tutorials are not descriptive enough leaving me scratching my head at the end. Thank you thank you thank you!
I have watched many tutorials on how to sculpt gel nails but your video is the best. You explained everything and it is easy to follow, thank you so much I really needed this video! I just subscribed because I can't miss anything :D
Yes! Thank you SOOO MUCH for this video! This helped tremendously! I am a beginner nail tech and I always wondered but more afraid about gels and gel scuplting. I learning acrylic but I also want to learn gel and gel sculpting so I can be more versatile, as there aren't many gels techs in Texas! And as a newbie to the nail world I wanted to be different. For a while I was majorly confused on gel but this has given me an amazing explanation and basics✨👌
SUPER INFORMATIVE! I'm "green", switching to gels & you're THE BEST @ explaining in Awesome detail, in/outs of sculpting full gel extentions! Left feeling confident rather than confused! SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!!(subbed) Ready for more!! TYfs your expertise! XOXO
thank you so much for the feedback I really appreciate you writing me a note. let me know if you have any follow-up questions and I'll try to address them in future videos
So very helpful and thanks of or mentioning products us apart newbies/hobbyist can buy too!! Watching in 2017 and still find it very informative, very clear to understand and no distractions!! Thank you..now just getting my confidence up to give it a try... watching your nail for video next..watched so many others but you explain things so very well thank you!!
I am watching this for a second time. I love this video. Thank you!! I am working towards getting that first layer to have that line of light perfect!!
I'm not new to Akzentz products line and I have ordered a few things in the past. After watching this very informative video on hard gel application, I'm ready to do start doing hard gels and stop using acrylics as my base. I am comfortable in doing a hard gel applications on myself and will be placing an order soon. Thanks!
Very informative!! Great job mama!! You put together an amazing video that was very informative, not boring and, I truly learned way more from this video than I have the previous 12 I've watched! Thank you!!

Excellent video, very calming voice and informative for learning. I have such a problem with sculpting and am also allergic to many brands of gel as well as acrylic.
Ok, this is SO helpful! I believe I'm doing everything right at this point.. my issue is that my IBD builder gel doesn't self level very much or quickly. So it doesn't do that effortless smoothness that everyone gets on their nails. Any recommendations for a gel of similar texture to this?
Yes I seen a couple of your nail videos I'm old school so I started out with gel It was doing too much for me that was back in the 80s and then I went back to acrylics cuz it a lot easier your a great teacher great teacher very thorough
OMG!! i've seen this video so many Times! this realy worked for me and helped me to make perfect nice nails faster and better gran before!! thank you thank you thank you
Hello just tuned in on your video's great expalation! would like to know what gel you like when doing fills and how often should gels be taken off and reapplied
my fave gel for fills is Akzentz Enhance. I prep the nail, apply the Adhere base super thin, cure, apply Enhance, cure and then proceed with color or top coat. it really does the work for me and I almost never have to finish file. I have noticed that after about 3 months (if you're just backfilling each time) that you don't need to completely remove the gel but that it does need to be taken way down and refreshed. some clients can go 6 months but most who are hard on their nails need a refresh ever 3 months. it can vary a lot. I don't suggest completely filing all the way to the natural nail nor would I ever "pop" them off as that is when a lot of damage happens. you just need to refresh the gel that is creating the strength. at least that has been my experience.
Hi Liz, how much filing down the sides of your natural nail is advisable? Where should you stop? And, if there is a small gap between the natural nail side and the side of the form going under your nail tip, is that ok? Thank you so much for all you do! 0:32
You are just brilliant Liz. I’ve learned so much from you already. Q: I went to a nail bar because I had split my natural nail and didn’t want to cut it off. She painted something on to cover and protect it, which it has done, and it has grown out well. I wonder what the product was and can you recommend anything to do that? It doesn’t come off when I change polish colour? Thank you so much Lisa in soggy-England.😊
Question, for us at-home DIY-ers who do our own nails because unfortunately we can't afford the salon (I'm a teacher, but I also enjoy the craft of learning about all this as I do art and my own hair and everything) where can we buy the thick viscosity builder gels? Most salon products we can't buy without a license. All I seem to be able to find is the self-leveling gels. Also, thank you for your videos. They are in-depth and fascinating as someone who loves to learn and loves to learn to do things the right way!

I still need loads of practice but I'd never have thought I'd be this close already!! I've worn them in public with no odd looks, so I guess they are ok enough.. I need better lighting next time! ***Any hints as to what background makes the surface show better? *** I couldn't see the little pits I had on surface until I filed. .. got my forms in today and going to try again.. I've been re watching your video, now I'll watch as I apply so I don't miss any steps. Fingers crossed! !💅
Thank You! So much for this in depth video, I recently switched to using gel instead of acrylic because of the smell but I have a major issue with using the form with the gel and buliding up the stress point this would be alot of help the next time I do a set!
So is this soak off, or would it need to be filed? Do you find that soak off gel is more flexible, or are they about the same? Thanks. Great video. Taught me much
As done in this video this would be need to be filed off as it is a permanent style enhancement. Leaving gel on the nail isn't a bad thing as the more you remove and reapply on the same nail the more you're likely to cause damage. If there's no lifting it's better to leave in on and if you're wanting to "remove" it, just file the gel thin and grow it out. I always use the analogy of hair color. Every time you get your hair dyed you don't remove all the old color only to put new color on, you only touch up the roots, and there's really no concern about removing the color as you can always switch to a different one by adding or subtracting over time. I view nails the same way. We've gotten to a point where because of soak-off products and the focus on gel polish removal everyone thinks you have to completely remove the nail each time or that it's scary to put something "permanent" on the nail, but it's really not scary and it's better to leave the natural nail alone as much as possible and just add to your enhancement, similar to touching up the roots of your hair when it grows out without removing all the color. Hope that makes sense. Long winded answer! :)
The Nail Hub THIS is the answer I’ve been searching for on hard gel! So you’re saying, as long as gel nails are put on correctly with quality products there’s no need to fully remove all traces of hard gel from the nail, just filing down the gel to a thinner more natural looking thickness and growing it out is how to get rid of it all together. When we see your nails short on videos do you often have a thin overlay of hard gel?
Thank you so VERY much once again for this absolutely fantastic video! I love how you explain everything and you make it so easy to understand! Thank you! Kindest regards Rita G
I've watched this video numerous times and practiced the form placement and hard gel structure and I still can't get it right! 😥. I'm watching your fundamentals video and practicing. You mention you might be doing some one on one training via the internet, will you be doing any for building an enhancement? I usually just do over lays on myself and daughters but I've had to "build " a nail and yikes. I put on a tip once and that didn't work properly either. I've been doing gel nails for almost 2 yrs now without formal training.

Nice - that nail was so crisp 👍👍
You are an excellent educator! I have yet to try this but I can understand the process much better now. Thank you!
I watched so many videos and yours is so far the best!
i tested this technique on my own nails and it worked soooo well!!! BUT i did get a strong exotherm, is there any technique in avoiding that? or is it still just a natural occurance
Ω Bishōjo it's a natural occurrence but taking your hand in and out of the lamp does help to slow the curing process. Do 1 sec in and 2-3 secs out. It helps a lot if your gel gets hot.
Love your videos! I’m in nail school right now and I’m learning so much from you!

Question, for us at-home DIY-ers who do our own nails because unfortunately we can't afford the salon (I'm a teacher, but I also enjoy the craft of learning about all this as I do art and my own hair and everything) where can we buy the thick viscosity builder gels? This video was very informative. I broke a nail and have the supplies to sculpt a gel nail. I can never get it right. I think this will help!
your explanation helps me a lot about using akzentz gel : )
Dehydrating the nails is enough or you apply primer?
I almost never use primer. Unless I have a very rare client that needs it but that is probably 1 out of 100 people that I use primer on.
Thank you soooooo much for this! Wonderfully explained!
Thanks for the share, can I ask if you have any helpful tutorials on silk wrapping or coverage of a nail that splits due to damage of the nail bed?
Hi Liz! How do you keep the bubbles out? Especially my clear gel.
This video is so so so thorough and super helpful! Thank you so much!

amazing video! quick question, how many extensions can i do using balance before i cure without the gel moving??
The best way is to flash cure for about 10 seconds and then you can do all 5 nails on one hand and fully cure at the end.

Thank you!
Kindest regards

This is so so so helpful. Wish I watched your video before I ordered my starter set 😩😊
Hi, Love your videos! I have a quick question, Can you do this sculpted length ( or longer) with the Akzentz Trinity (3 in 1) hard gel?
what do you think of IBD products for gel nail overlays using IBD hard gel?
do akzentz not carry the prep and wipe anymore? I cant seem to find it on their site.-----
I love these products! They work exactly like you say. Thank you so much again.
Hi Liz. Where can I find tweezers like these? Are these brow tweezers?
