A wonderful movie that can never be duplicated no matter who remakes it - I still watch it every time it comes on. And Jor-El's speeches to Kal-El are priceless masterpieces
Ryan, I agree with you, this movie, John Williams score, Christopher Reeve's performance, his uncanny likeness to the comic, all these make all the later movies pointless, Man of Steel is not a patch on this !!
To the ones who say that this Krypton was white, colorless: that was done on purpose. It was to project an air of superiority with science being Krypton's guiding force. However, the strength of Jor-El and his wife Lara was that they let their emotions assist them in making the hardest decision of their lives: Their love for life in general led Jor-El to plead in behalf of his people's lives and their love for their son led Jor-El to make an ark of sorts for their son so that he would gather strength and knowledge on his way to Earth, while he was growing up there (it was NO accident that ended up near the Kent farm, near being some miles/acres away) and his twelve-year meta-physical journey through time and space, while his Kryptonian mother gave him further knowledge and wisdom as Keeper of the Archives (yes, this was because they couldn't secure Brando for Superman II) at the Fortress of Solitude.
I love Russel Crowe's role in the reboot, but I like Brando better because, he keeps a calm demeanor, but judging by the tone of his voice he is really holding back his emotions rather than simply suppress them altogether.
Leatherbubba is so right here. What an incredible difference in movie making. 1978 gave us a masterpiece. Then when I saw the previews for Man of Steel, I thought to myself, "I know they have tons of explosions and fight scenes in the previews. But the cast and the storyline look so good, they can't mess this up." I was wrong. 20 minutes of story and dialogue. 2 Hours of explosions and fights.
It is a truly epic scene and Brandon really gave it weight in his performance, when hes talking to his son at parts hes not really looking at the baby but looking at his lines that were hidden in parts of the set, because Donner and the film crew only had Brando for a short time, now thats proper acting, true professional.
now we knowwhy says the lamb is worhy to receive riches wealth given receive isn't playing thottery or the bougnt alliance reviews and I ask angels to bring me money some got arrested for trying to stral money from the mexican drug cartel..
this superman story always "gets me", probably because MY ACTUAL birth parents gave me up for adoption the year i was born, 1978! plus, my birth records are SEALED, so i CANT find out who my real parents are, so, who knows, right? plus,my 3rd child now has crazy amounts of strength and can withstand some pretty brutal falls when he runs and climbs things. well, anyways, thanks for the upload
It’s weird. This is the kinda scene that would make me emotional on rewatch but man even as a kid this scene got to me, especially the end of the speech when Jor-El’s voice breaks
My point is that Brando wasn't there for acting but for people to see the film. I would say it made sense to hire him but the money he made and the fact that his performance was a bit lackluster in my opinion means that I can't help get the feeling that he is wasted here.
+Kevin Broderick Anyone know if there a soundtrack to this particular scene? 1:00 - 1:20 I have heard it before in a deleted cut scene in Superman II when Jor-El sacrifices what's left of himself to restore his son's powers.
Actually, I believe he died after the film was finished. He was able to complete all the scenes and died shortly afterwards. Reference the Making of Superman
"my hopes and dream go with you", is all crowe said, but dramatically that short and sweet part suited that film... but what writer could watch this and say he could top it, dishearten anyone. Mario puzo at his best I think
well said.. I think its a shock to a lot of die hard fans system, but I think they will see a different film second time round.. man of steel is a great film
I Think that Rey is could be Clark Kent in her because her true name is Kira while Clark's true name is Ka-El. So Rey's biological parents are Ezra and Sabine whose have made to adopt her from those drugs couple on Jakku
that was a good dream i had a year ago about tge Throne of God seeing though my eyes connection to the throne before i even watch this. wow Jessica yaggi had a goid point what dreams belong of robin Williams good movie to
Well the idea of Krypton in this version was that they were making a visual pun on the chemical Element Krypton which is known for causing the photographic flash. Said chemical before being applied was pure white.
man of steel krypton looks like a generic alien planet. colorless? the one in man of steel is all grey-scale and sepia, like it came out of 300. this looks like an advanced race
One True Vikingbard Actually he's got a point. I mean, ya the crystals are pretty cool, but Man Of Steel had more life into it as well as a better insight to their environment, technology and way of life. Whilst The Donner film only showed brief politics with only Jor-El and Lara to sympathize with since Zod and Co. are evil and the Council are assholes. It's really hard to miss a planet that people barely knew.
I like MoS's Krypton but it was too much like Pandora on Avatar. THIS is the best portrayal of Krypton. Even if it is a little dated. Russell Crowe made a great Jor-El. MoS is unfairly hated on. It was a great, well-made film. Probably the best thing Snyder has ever done besides Watchmen and 300.
Always wondered how the common language on Krypton could possibly be English? And how was baby Superman being fed during his many years journey across space.
Gathering people who wants to be a part of building a network of stable, fully self sustaining and self sufficient communities (a.k.a. life-boats for the coming environmental collapse). Communities that live and thrive free of money. Peaceful communities that are built upon foundation of : love, spirituality, mercy, generosity, tolerance, intelligent, and wisdom. If you are interested in becoming a part of this grass root efforts, I encourage your reply. This Community ARK Project is looking for peaceful, patience, humble, and kind-hearted people who are awaken and aware of the coming environmental collapse; who want to roll up their sleeves and participate in preparatory efforts. One cannot pull someone out of a raging river standing on a muddy slippery slope. In order to pull someone out of the river, one must stand on a firm solid foundation. A fully self-sufficient community is that solid foundation, upon which we stand in order to rescue other less fortunate who will be affected by the collapsing environment. If we ourselves are struggling to survive as the environment collapse, how can we help others? We need fully self-sufficient communities to shelter and nourish us in order for us to reach out and help others. (Note: this is a gathering process and NOT a recruitment process. When one recruit, one is trying to convince others to join a cause; well, someone else can always come along and convince people to join a different cause. But when one gather, one is speaking to those of like mind who do not need convincing; in their hearts and in their thoughts, they recognize the catastrophe that lay ahead if our modern societies continue on their current path of promoting competition, strife, ignorance and scarcity. This Community ARK Project is lighting a beacon so that those with similar mind set will know that they are not alone in their thoughts and impulses, and that there are others like them out there who desire to come together to pool our effort in order to extract ourselves and place ourselves on a different path, one that promote cooperation, harmony, foresight, and a nurturing environment.)
Interesting that Brando's first best picture was with Tennessee Williams who is NOT related to John Williams, although so many seem to think that. Political public relations repair?? Was there some kind of back handed casting with Brando?? since the characters gets killed off? How 'convenient'...
Love the film, but I don't see why they cast Marlon Brando other than the fact that his name will sell tickets as he doesn't do a stand out role here. I think Russel Crowe was a better Jor-El in my opinion (although I'm not sure on the better film.)
As a parent this scene is a heartbreaker, so powerful
Small roll for Brando but he nailed it. Worth the Million they paid him
Yes...you said it!
A wonderful movie that can never be duplicated no matter who remakes it - I still watch it every time it comes on. And Jor-El's speeches to Kal-El are priceless masterpieces
They can remake superman over and over but the original will always be the best.......
shelly yastagirl Absofreakinlutely.
Personally I think man of steels krypton scene was better, and Zimmer did an incredible job with the music to accompany it
Ryan, I agree with you, this movie, John Williams score, Christopher Reeve's performance, his uncanny likeness to the comic, all these make all the later movies pointless, Man of Steel is not a patch on this !!
This some old bullshit😂 they just wearing reflectors .
Sorry but Man of Steel is a million times better than this.

Davida Williams 1979 the year a star was born
Spoke love and blessings over his son life even when he and his wife was going to die.
I love Russel Crowe's role in the reboot, but I like Brando better because, he keeps a calm demeanor, but judging by the tone of his voice he is really holding back his emotions rather than simply suppress them altogether.

Its rare that you get a movie that has you choking up within the first few scenes
Superman is the best superhero and this is the best superhero movie
It is a truly epic scene and Brandon really gave it weight in his performance, when hes talking to his son at parts hes not really looking at the baby but looking at his lines that were hidden in parts of the set, because Donner and the film crew only had Brando for a short time, now thats proper acting, true professional.
He was, specifically, reading his lines off what was written on the baby's diaper. I'm not even joking.
they made a movie about me coming from the throne
Marlon Brando and baby Superman- Tugged on my heart strings!😅
Right out of the comic, the lifting of the truck scene.
now we knowwhy says the lamb is worhy to receive riches wealth given receive isn't playing thottery or the bougnt alliance reviews and I ask angels to bring me money some got arrested for trying to stral money from the mexican drug cartel..
awe the baby reminds me of my nephew just cute

steph g 😢
I think that means Jor-el and Lara were your parents
It’s weird. This is the kinda scene that would make me emotional on rewatch but man even as a kid this scene got to me, especially the end of the speech when Jor-El’s voice breaks
Morland Brando read the lines off the babies diaper.
My point is that Brando wasn't there for acting but for people to see the film. I would say it made sense to hire him but the money he made and the fact that his performance was a bit lackluster in my opinion means that I can't help get the feeling that he is wasted here.
Kinda like the music John Williams composed for this scene
+Kevin Broderick Anyone know if there a soundtrack to this particular scene? 1:00 - 1:20
I have heard it before in a deleted cut scene in Superman II when Jor-El sacrifices what's left of himself to restore his son's powers.
first time I saw Marlon Brando nice scence!😎
They couldn't even do this scene in Man of Steel and not turn it into a stupid fight scene.
It's fascinating to watch that cute baby in this movie and knowing that 15 years later he would become clinically depressed and commit suicide.
Actually, I believe he died after the film was finished. He was able to complete all the scenes and died shortly afterwards. Reference the Making of Superman
Davida Williams one
"my hopes and dream go with you", is all crowe said, but dramatically that short and sweet part suited that film... but what writer could watch this and say he could top it, dishearten anyone. Mario puzo at his best I think
The original 1975 Mario Puzo script did not have that at all in it.
Stop hating on Man of Steel. I still say it was a great movie, and even if it 'broke lore' and 'had too much fighting' I was thoroughly entertained.
well said.. I think its a shock to a lot of die hard fans system, but I think they will see a different film second time round.. man of steel is a great film
had my first baby today...Maxel Clark Krug...this scene is epic 😂
All this and more, Holy Jehovah provides ❤❤❤
Why do they intentionally 'Skip' in the first few seconds of the audio Very manipulative.
ever well said bro, I enjoyed all the films
The beast is finished.
Fucking Classic !!
Brando killed it and didn't give a fuck.
So did he know about earth or was the pod equiped with some kind of planetary scanner.
I will never ever leave you Batman Adam In Jesus' Name, Make my strength your own, Brother In Jesus' Name ❤
15 million bucks he got for kissing a baby on the forehead....
Morbus They need the star power to promote the film. Oh yeah he's a good actor too, despite his viewpoint on the film.
Its a great film, until you rewatch Superman. Then you realize it lacks emotion & creativity
No head bands like in the comic books. They were like neck ties on Krypton.
Okay, and at the point in the comics Clark and Lois were news reporters on TV. Movies don't always get every single detail from the comics.
@3:00 when then realize he is not from here.
I Think that Rey is could be Clark Kent in her because her true name is Kira while Clark's true name is Ka-El. So Rey's biological parents are Ezra and Sabine whose have made to adopt her from those drugs couple on Jakku
It was already high quality. It was a $55 million dollar budget, the biggest film of all time up to 1978!
that was a good dream i had a year ago about tge Throne of God seeing though my eyes connection to the throne before i even watch this.
wow Jessica yaggi had a goid point what dreams belong of robin Williams good movie to
I really like Man of Steels Krypton better. This one is just too, white, I mean really this planet is just so, colorless.

You’re the product of a lazy generation, needing things force fed to him. No appreciation for real context. Stick to video games.
They didn't even have any new ideas for Krypton, so they just hijacked Avatar and the Matrix for no real reason.
Well he was reading of cue cards
Always wondered how the common language on Krypton could possibly be English? And how was baby Superman being fed during his many years journey across space.
terrible clip you left out the beautiful images of the space craft before he left Krypton, and His dad putting the green one inside.
