- Full of sweet, flavorful lump crab meat, these homemade Crab Cakes are so easy to make and are way better than ordering out at a restaurant! Crispy and golden brown on the outside but tender on the inside, these cakes have very little filler and will melt in your mouth.

I tried this recipe with one HUGE change. I did it with water based tuna. Delish! Huge hit. I'm going to try another po' substitution and try it with canned crab meat.

Let me tell you, your channel is soooo much better than most other cooking channels! Yes, your recipes are great and actually work like they are supposed to but more than that. So many channels have that annoying music and either don't even include the ingredients with measurements or put the words on the screen. It's hard to cook if you have to watch the screen! Plus they offer no explanation on techniques or the reasons behind them.

Great recipe, simple to make and lets the crab shine. My family is super picky about onions, and I found sweet red onions that are delicious and make everyone happy, give it a try, comes out delicious. Also, a good way to help crab cakes keep their shape is roll them in plane breadcrumbs, it doesn’t dilute the taste but adds stability and crunch to the outside.

I made this with fish instead of crab. My grocery sells their left over small pieces of white fish as "chowder" fish at a discounted price $4/lb. It came out delicious!

I'm a Maryland girl, Maryland is for crabs, and it hurt my soul a little that you didn't use Old Bay Seasoning in this recipe. 😭

Aficionados will tell you that the very best crab cakes in the US are found on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. I lived there for 15 years but, great though they are, better ones are to be found in Delaware along the Delaware Bay. In the same area, one can still find stewed chicken with slippery dumplings, which is unbelievably delicious.

In my youth they tended to be made with tinned fish. That has its own charms, but there can be no comparison with them made with fresh fish. Thank you for the video!

FYI, if you cant afford lump crab, you can use the crab in the can, just drain it very well.

I made the crab cakes tonight and they were excellent!! Love this recipe. We added red onion and caper - so good! One thing we need help with is how to keep them together. We chilled for 20 mins - maybe longer will help. Any other tips? Thanks so much for an excellent recipe!!
