I feel very blessed to be a Canadian. I am privileged for receiving a great education, a home where my parents were able to work, where, when my father got injured he received the best health care, and a pension. When I was done school, I got a well paying job, paid vacation, raised my children able to be free and live the life they wanted. Yes, Canada is a great country.

I'm an American and I shout agreement with Lord Black.
Canada in all its provinces and quirks is an admirable northern cousin. Lately it seems to have gone full socialist and that's a shame. We're always hoping for good ideas from up north.

The absence of socialism will ruin the USA.

Meh, Canada puts on a big show but it's mostly responsibly governed. A good example is illegal immigration. Trudeau tweeted that Canada is welcoming, if you'll recall, but he didn't actually change any policies regarding enforcement of the border, and being surrounded by the States, two oceans and the Arctic, it's not exactly easy to get here anyway. Certainly there are problems - Trudeau Sr. warned against the idea of communal or "group" rights and we're starting to see the problems associated with that. For instance it isn't illegal for the government to discriminate based on race or cultural affiliation - it's kind of baked into the system, actually.

This situation Conrad Black spoke about happened during the Harper Prime Ministership.
Canada was a country to be proud of.
    Under good leadership this happens.

no, statesmanship; there is a difference. Harper collected his pay cheque and got a portrait. Trudeau, the elder, was a statesman.

We admire Conrad Black. Having said that we are unsympathetic to Canada and Canadians. We are Australians who recently visited Canada. We left the country, glad to be leaving and vowing never to return. We disliked Canadian multicultural ideals; political socialism; feminist ideology; anti-USA chip and misguided academia.

Cannot agree more with you. 23 years ago I made mistake to move to Canada, while Australia was also on my radar screen. Canada is degrading. It is visible. Crime on the streets and incompetence in decisions making are escalating. Government is crazy about gender, race and climate issues, while the real problems of Canadians are not being solved. Within two generations Canada will turn into English speaking USSR with a lot of mosques.

Why give a show based on factual accuracy to a convicted liar?
