As an American I absolutely would consider it primarily because of Canadian social programs. Healthcare, child care, etc. Far better use of my taxes than a bloated offensive military budget.
Canada will not gain ground against the USA in terms of power or influence to any notable extent this century, let alone the next couple decades (no real change that soon whatsoever). But it's doing fine and will continue to, as the USA will as well I would assume, whether united or not.
