Yea it's a little weird with trucks, there is such a big price difference between the base Regular cab and a loaded Crew Cab 4x4 Platinum. They all go down the same assembly line so build quality is the same whether you pay 35K or 100K.

    • @largol33t1

The problem is Ford's attitude towards the customer. They KNOW that a significant number of their customers will buy their trucks no matter how shitty, how impractical, how overpriced BECAUSE those same uber-tunnel vision customers would rather die than drive anything without the blue oval on the grille. I mean it. I'm not exaggerating. My brother knew a guy in college whose family drove NOTHING but Ford trucks for 40 years and they refuse to touch anything different even if the Ford truck winds up being the most unreliable in the world.

Regardless of price, or trim level, those defects are unacceptable. The change in your dealership’s behavior is also unacceptable.

Well it sounds like a lemon. I'd demand a new one for sure. If it has that many issues I'd be worried about the drivetrain. I have a center screen where is was completely black and couldn't do anything and the paint on my truck had spots where they missed. Also had seat cover cloth stitches coming undone. The dealer replaced the seat and paint though so was happy about that.

    • @Milesco
      @Milesco 3 года назад +2

Yeah, as "biz4" said (or implied), legally it isn't a "lemon" unless and until the same defect has been repaired a certain number of times without lasting success. (The number can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction -- typically it's three, four, or a "reasonable number" of repair attempts. )
So if you have a number -- even a large number -- of different defects, the vehicle still isn't considered a "lemon" unless you can't get those defects repaired after the statutory number of attempts.

    • @jmackinjersey1
      @jmackinjersey1 2 года назад +1

If I had a dollar for everyone that bought a vehicle and then brought it back, claiming it was a "lemon" even after I sat down with them and showed them the definition, I'd have a lot more dollars in my bank. It isn't as simple as having a few or even many different items needing attention.
Plus, you need to get a lemon law lawyer involved, and even then, if your vehicle does qualify, it takes a long time to get anything done about it. I know this from my own experience with GM and an 02 Chevy Blazer ZR2.

I have a 2021 F-250 6.7L King Ranch FX4. Overall, absolutely impressed. I have had only three issues, which have now been fixed: the rear window interior roof gasket (like yours), the lower windshield/dash gasket (like yours), and the driver's side roof gutter trim piece that attaches to the rear window. Other than that, zero rattle, absolutely no electrical issues, no tailgate problems, and fitment is superb on all panels. The leather in my King Ranch seems excellent so far, with no rippling or quality issues I can find. My truck was built November 2020.

Happy Birthday Bauer!! I agree, your 450 was definitely put together on a Friday afternoon. The door misalignment and that stitching on the dash is just plain unacceptable for ANY trim level. Luckily my 21 350 Platinum has no assembly issues, accept for my windshield molding also curls up at each end like yours. But I do have 2 recalls pending for mine (windshield glass reattachment 21C06, spring seat interface weld 21S31) which I have been hesitant to take in right now due to parts and material shortages. I don't want my truck sidelined for weeks/months because the dealer accidently breaks my windshield while removing it, etc.

On my 2021 F-450 Platinum I had the same problem with the seat belt except mainly on the passenger side. It was really annoying for my friend's. I also had an oil leak that the second dealer fixed but it was terrible on such an expensive truck. I also had a DEF system fault that didn't get fixed. I loved the truck anyway. The front axle is unbelievable!! I sold it at 18,500 miles because I couldn't pass up having the dealer pay me a few thousand more than I paid and the DEF issue scared me. Even with the few problems I had I'll probably buy a 2022 or 2023. I picked up an extremely clean 2009 Chevy Silverado 3500 with on 46k miles that I'll drive till the market calms down and I see if 23 is a redesign. The rear cup holder thing is ridiculous too. I agree I don't care that it's a truck it should be put together correctly!!

The 2020's door locks can be defeated in less than 30 seconds. In SanAntonio TX they have over 150 calls for break ins per day according to the police officer I talked to in Academy. Pre 2017 fords had lots of issues with the bells and whistles. Post 2016-17 fords have engineering and design problems that affect critical components and safety of the vehicle imo. That's not to mention the tsb on 2011 Ford edges regarding sudden failure of the power brake booster which leads to a sudden loss of brakes, or a sensor failure in a f350 2011-14 (wasn't my truck don't remember details) that prevented truck from starting after sitting overnight which stranded myself and a coworker for 6 hours just outside Columbus TX.

I work at a truck only dealership. We see more issues like this on Fords than GMC / Ram. Not every truck of course, not saying that not a single Ram or GM has had issues, just saying we see it more on 2019+ fords than 2019+ Rams or GM’s. Interior specifically I think Fords fell a bit behind. Overall quality and materials of a higher trim level Ram / GM seems to be a little higher than Ford. Never thought I would say that either. Adaptive Cruise control is extremely dangerous. For no reason whatsoever the truck accelerates full throttle and nothing you do will turn it of except to shut the ignition off. And when you try to restart the truck it goes to full throttle. The only way to fix it is to drop the keypod into the slot under the front cup holder to reboot the computer. When I took it to Ford for these issues they said there was nothing they can do to correct the problem. Reason was, the latest software would not take. Whatever that means. Now I'm stuck with a very expensive Piece of Shit for a Truck. Thank you Ford. I have been a loyal customer since the 60's.

Everyone I've ever known with a construction or similar business have base model work trucks with no luxuries and nice vehicles they use for other purposes.
Obviously this doesn't excuse the problems with your F-450, but I wouldn't expect a medium duty truck to have a decent amount of kinks, its not a top seller like the F-150 or F-250. Doubtful they put as much R&D into the F-450 as they do the light duty trucks.

I asked a friend did I hit something a kid on a bike it freaked me out. When I sold it back to Ford with about 65,000 miles it didn't start correctly. They paid it off plus 1500$. I bought a friend's 2001 f250 XL extended cab 2 WD at 145,000 miles, I got 283,000 until transmission went out. I had already had just the differential built, and a new intake put on. I paid 5,300$ and put about 5,000$ in it. The 2006 cost 35,000, I also pulled a goose neck with the 2001 on the weekends. I have a 2015 XL Fx4 crew 8ft bed with 95,000 pd 25,000 we will see how this Ford goes. I did Have to tune the engine, coils plugs, etc and put a airbag kit to level, but nothing serious yet. These customers cannot be talked to. They'll just ignore anything that speaks blasphemy of the brand they blindly worship and would gladly overspend by thousands and thousands just to keep that blue oval on the grille. With this Charles Manson-like loyalty, why would Ford worry about quality? They'll cry and bitch and post videos like this but in the end, they'll still FLOCK to the dealerships and buy another effed up Ford truck even if it winds up costing thousands in repairs. I gotta admit:
2019 Ford F250 Platinum Ultimate Package w/16500 miles
      1. Annoying window noise like a seal opening when you go over bumps
      2. Super annoying rear seat noise (creaking/rattle) over bumps or transition from driveway/curb to road and regular driving during turns
      3. Annoying creaky noise from panoramic moonroof
      4. Have to buckle seatbelts or they will rattle badly on the a and b pillars
      5. Head rests on front seats vibrate badly over bumps
      6. Bang and Olufsen stereo system will power down output EVEN THOUGH I have the speed lowering turned off. I absolutely HATE that shit! Rear door speaker passenger side is blown
Took my truck in for what I thought would be a SIMPLE and QUICK rear door speaker replacement and the very rude service advisor told me they have to "hook it up for a diagnostic to see what's wrong". I ask how long of a process this is and she said "well did you have transportation back to your house?, this is going to take all day". WTF. I'm no rocket surgeon, but I know what a goddamn blown speaker sounds like
The roads here in Colorado are ATROCIOUS so a percentage of the noise can be attributed to that but, a very small percentage.
It seems like FORD just hurried up and slapped these trucks together before they shipped them out. I am not going to complain to the dealer and waste my time driving over there because I know they won't do anything about it. It's a shame but that's reality. Other then these minor first world issues...I have no complaints but my truck was an $80,000 MSRP(USA) truck so I was expecting like you were, a much higher quality on par with the European car makers.
I denied death wobble defending Ford's honor RELENTLESSLY and come to find out...it definitely exists.
To be honest, if RAM went to a V8 diesel I probably would go with RAM from now on. I haven't heard of any of their complaints though and I don't really scour their forums looking for them either.

Everything is a mess in the factories now with missing parts and missing people so then you have someone else filling in on the assembly line etc. I was afraid this was going to happen and I'm glad you showed this video. I'm sure this is going to be a nightmare for all of the dealers also. I would certainly make Ford fix everything under warranty, even the bad stitching on the dash which would drive me nuts also. I have on super duties for 16 years now but I think I'm going to wait and hopefully things get back to somewhat normal before I buy a new one. The dealership I purchased my 2020 F450 from damaged my truck… They “bricked” the PCM, they gouged the steering wheel during prep while I was waiting to take delivery. They had to replaced the steering wheel and they’ve broken two clock springs. Then they put a severely out of balance drive shaft in when they were trying to diagnose a small vibration when loaded during acceleration. They made the vibration worse.

All Ford 3 Fords I have had since 2016 have had the seat beat "issue" you are talking about. My 2020 F250 only issue I have had is a loose cable in the driver's door came loose. Clicking noise in the steering wheel? While sliding? I'm not sure what in a steering column clicks while sliding? ABS module while braking/sliding is the only thing I could think of clicking, but can't see why it would be doing it as you are driving. I love my 3.31 axle with my 6.7. Cruising on the highway is 9.0L/100km(26mpg), hauling the RV out to PEI and back to Ontario(5k round trip) it averaged 17.5L/100km(13
5mpg) I'm routinely getting 8-900km city from the 136l(34gal) tank. My 2020 had the 189l(48gal) tank and it was great 12-1300km city and 16-1800km(empty) range(it would average under 10L/100km) the 2020 and 10spd are better. Only thing holding me back on the F450 is the 4.30 axle and the fuel. I dont have a need for the 4.30, a 3.55 in an F350 would work fine but the front axle and turning radius are less enjoyable.

I recently bought a 2011 ford focus that is ten years newer and its just not the same. Rubber seals are literally falling off. Cig lighter never worked. Rattling from the drivers side b pillar which is right in my ear XD. Drivers wing mirror shakes constantly. some of the buttons look and feel like that they were taken out of an 80s ford and thrown in with zero thought... stupid stuff like that :/

Crazy how "in the old days" you'd buy even a base and it'd be well-built to an extent. Idc about cost-cutting and cheap stuff on the lower-end as its just business, but this is just a joke. You already have to spend a good buck to get a decently-optioned truck, so the least they can do is make sure its well put together. The trans can give out down the line, but initial quality shouldn't be a problem in todays world. Nonetheless, love the channel and trucks!

I have a buddy offering to sell me his, as he ordered a new one,
I’m not sold on the Ford quality overall,
I’ve had a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 Hd, loved it, got a 2007 GMC 2500 HD duramax & bought it almost new in 2009, still running great & I’ve done almost nothing engine wise to it,
Bought my daughter one this past year with 120k miles, and her truck was a work truck, nothing done to it, runs wonderful.
The quality of Ford is questionable,
I have a work vehicle, that’s a ford explorer, and mechanically it’s been ok,
But the fitment & door alignment, dash alignment, panels on outside, don’t line up, an crooked.
As a new vehicle it was like this.

may need a software update for your bugs with the mirrors and tailgate everything is module controlled now, but yeah I always dreamed about being a new vehicle owner when I was a broke mechanic at the dealership then as I got smarter and started making some real money and got a new truck I realized they aren't perfect and the dealer couldn't care less, now we have had everything from a 85k USD Range Rover to new Rams Denali Yukon and more and every experience is the same next to no dealership accountability and cheap build quality poor fitment, rattles and damage from the lot. So My advice to anyone buying new make sure its a nice bright day and the vehicle is clean and inspect for all damage before you buy it cause more than likely that will be the only time they will do anything about it. My new truck just landed at the dealer so see how this one goes.... thanks for the list of things to look for in the Fords

That’s why I only buy mid-2000’s Super Dutys. I get the 5.4 3v, and the FIRST thing I do, is install a melling 340hv oil pump, then all the fluids are changed. Just got an ‘06 with 95k that looks like a dealer demo, not a spot of rust or aluminum oxidation. Just as strong and useful as a POS made in the last couple years, and I paid $6k for it. It’s a truck, I don’t need all that GPS Bluetooth crap, it’s in my phone. I want an aux plug-in, that’s it. 6-figures for a pickup truck is incredibly dumb. These trucks break left and right when used, well, like a truck should be used. You can get a 99-07 450 or 550 and get the same stuff done, it just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Man, what a bummer! I forgot what you had connected to your OBD port but that may have something to do with your electrical issues. I was talking to my salesperson one time that was telling me that they had a truck in for service and they had something plugged in there and couldn't figure out why the truck was acting crazy until they unplugged what the had plugged in there. I know a few things have changed electrically since 2020 so it may be why you are having problems... hopefully?? As far as the "seal" on the bottom of the windshield, supposedly it is just a piece of foam that they put in place during manufacturing. You can probably pull it out and if you really want it there still, just flip it over where the side curling up is facing down. Happy birthday to Bauer!! How the heck has it already been 2 years?! you’re absolutely right to demand quality from that truck. You bought a luxury vehicle that happens to be a truck, it should be built better or else what’s the point with having anything beyond an XLT. I have a ‘21 F-250 King Ranch which I could not find any issues with the build other than one minor thing on the steering wheel - the leather on the backside of the steering wheel is loose and not wrapped completely. I haven’t pushed for it to get fixed yet because it’s my only vehicle and I can’t afford to have it out of commission. I know you already got your truck detailed and spent thousands on coatings, but if I were you I’d order the same truck in a 2022 model, get the bigger screen and be done with your unfortunate mishaps on that build. Just my opinion. Love your content by the way, keep it up man. Cheers from North Carolina.

I hate to add another issue to your truck but check all the door handle backers on the outside, seems to me the driver door only on all superduty 17 and up are rubbing on the paint on one side. Drives me nuts thinking it's going to rub through eventually. But door alignments are terrible, seat belt, thing under windshield, box is to one side a little, exterior mirror rattling and I had my first death wobble after four years and it tore out the drag link too. Almost killed us with the fifthwheel hooked up. Why that's not a recall for safety is beyond me. But after it happens and nearly kills you they'll put one in, but they won't replace anything their faulty part tore up, that's on the owner.

Get a prospectus from an investment firm (it won't cost you anything), which will give you the names of the board members so you can get their addresses and emails and be sending them the same thing. You'll be amazed at the change in attitude at the dealership. Oh, if you fix anything yourself, they'll void your warranty.

I haven't looked into current trucks, mostly due to lack of justifying the costs of purchasing, maintaining, and operating them. I'm "lucky" in that I don't need one for work or as a daily driver. Your fuel mileage, is that common? I assume you set the cruise at the 65-72 mpg and don't touch the buttons and pedals unless needed(?). Its NICE to hear of those numbers, bringing back one of the main benefits of a diesel.
I imagine you've mentioned it in previous vids but for giggles, and because I'm either lazy or my time is too valuable to look-see, what range of mpg have you seen while towing? Yes, I know that varies greatly but are you seeing say, 7 mpg, or 12 mpg?
The trans, which I'm sure that the trans has a lot to do with the mpg - how durable have they been, including electronics/sensors, and how are they in drivability such as smooth crisp shifts, tc lockup, hunting for the right gear, "let it do it's thing and all is good" or "aggravating even when I don't think about it"?
Thank you for your time, if you've covered that previously feel free to say so and I'll gladly spend my time on those vids instead of you wasting yours to repeat yourself. (I subscribed and am in the habit of hitting "like" before I watch.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the budding little man!!

If you needed something to just work in, you could get an XLT crew cab that would be a lot cheaper, or if you needed something to haul a lot, get an F-450 RWD with the single cab, that has the most towing capability and from what it sounds like you have multiple trucks.

You should not expect good fit and finish quality when buying a Ford. I know it's ridiculous considering the price of the truck but they have always had these issues. Coming from a Ford guy.

I'm with you Bud. For the price it all should be darn near perfect. obtw. My 2008 F-350 had exact the same issue with the seat belt

Sell the truck if your not happy with it! If your not happy when it’s new , you won’t be happy with it in three years
