Thank you for posting this interview. She sounds inspiring. Now, I am going to go out & find some recordings of her conducting orchestras.

Horn chords (multiphonics) - play the bottom note, sing/hum the middle note and the horn produces the addition and subtraction of the frequencies, hence producing the chords. Works on all brass instruments apparently!!

He is probably the horn player with the best sound of the world. So "round". Like velvet 😂

I think the multitones things were made by his voice. I saw that on the french horn player that played flight of the bumblebee..o yeah his name is Frank Floyd

Cutinici Paul , yes that is the technique. You hum at the same as you play. It me a while to master that. Kind of cool to do.

What really sets Baborak aside for me is his tone quality. Of course some players can match him in technical ability, but there is no other horn player who is as good as Baborak as far as tone is concerned. In Baumann's version, whenever he articulated notes strongly, there came with it a nasty edge. This is not so with Radek Baborak! He always makes a good sound.

Look also at the sound of Zdenek Tylsar, thats the ideal for me...

Sasa Whare Zdenek Tylsar's brother was coincidentally Baborák's professor

Agreed, Zdenek and Baborak both have beautiful tone and expressivity.

The difference in tone between Baumann and Baborak may also be different interpretations of the music too

Probably overtones. Because if you look at a large tuner, when a tuba plays an F, the C wheel, and the A wheel will also move a little bit, because of the overtones, and that is how flutes tune to tubas as well. I really want to learn this solo though.

I'm not sure 100% and i cant do it with 3 or 4 notes at once, but I found somewhere something like this "If the both notes are pure, certain acoustic reasons will make the third and even fourth note appear" Hmmm, just need practicing I guess :D

I still don't get how he does the multiphonics. I mean, I can do it with two notes, but it has written for three and four notes. Is it just finding a way to bring out certain overtones? how does he do it?!?

  • @rugilockk2708

Baborak is allways exelent. The orchestra for some reason is not accurate. They are not in the level for Baborak.
