    Best I've ever heard on this solo - totally natural, no valves, using only hand and embouchure to play the entire solo. The section making "Chords by humming and playing simultaneously to make the chords is quite impressive". Never able to do this solo after 40 years of periodically working on this!! Bravo Javier..you still remain the best ever!! Thanks for sharing your talent with we hornists who admire your great talent!!

      Have you heard Anthony Halstead's recording for this? In my opinion that's still the best one for natural horn

      @@TheBony45 You're comparing a studio recording to a live performance. You may as well be comparing it to Hermann Baumann's recording on a Geyer double. This is the only instance of a live recording, and Bonet should receive nothing but praise sans comparisons for doing it successfully.

    1:07 Soft half stopped/ muted notes like these.. That's why people loved the natural horn so much beside the sexy stopped suspended notes! 😍

    • @mal2ksc
      @mal2ksc Год назад

      I don't get why people stopped (no pun intended) writing to this level of detail once valve horns became the norm. You'd think being able to play any note open, and most of them stopped, would make the technique more popular. I mean you see ° and ⁺ over notes fairly frequently (enough so that B♭ horns, which hand-stop up 1 and a half semitones, use the thumb for a specialized valve), but usually it's a series of notes using the same stopping or a gradually changing stopping. No more rapid leaps between wide open and fully choked -- a difficult effect to handle well, but when it _is_ handled well it sounds amazing.
      Of course, the horn became much more versatile with valves. I certainly wouldn't want to go back to a time without them. But it is possible to do a lot of this on valved horns too, and not completely lose the "wildness" when you want it.

    Certainly is a pleasure to hear Mr. Bonet or anyone who plays natural horn so well. Used to love hearing Lowell Greer play and hear him speak of the history of the instrument. I wish Mr. Bonet would tour the U.S. with the major U. S. orchestras. I'm curious if this is a reproduction horn? The wrap looks a bit like an Uhlman. It does appear that it sounds pretty easily. Of course it's his skill making it difficult to know on a video. 😮 His hand technique is flawless.

    Я всё понимаю, это конечно большое мастерство играть на натуральной валторне, но зачем это нужно сейчас, в 21 веке? когда есть современный инструмент. А этот выход наверх, и вообще, в техничных частях, это разве красиво? 🙈 Мне кажется это извращение. Это получается примерно так, если бы мы ехали в соседний город не на машине а на ослике... Лично я до конца дослушать не смог 🤷‍♂️

    • @thinkerly1
      @thinkerly1 2 года назад

      Есть несколько причин использовать натуральную валторну для этого произведения. Во-первых, мы можем услышать и испытать произведение таким, каким его ожидал услышать композитор, и таким, каким его услышали люди того времени. В этом смысле использование натуральную валторну более точно соответствует духу музыки, чем использование современую валторну. Во-вторых, инструмент и техника, необходимая для игры на нем, воспроизводят звуки, не производимые современным музыкантом, играющим на клапанном инструменте.

    • @somebody9033
      @somebody9033 Год назад

      @@Arturhorn69 I don't agree, sorry. There were few composers who wrote music with the intention of people building instruments especially for their music (think Wagner, with his contrabass trombones and Wagnertuben, or Strauss, with his heckelphone to Low F). Weber was not in that mindset. Valves were only invented 15 years after Weber wrote this, when he was writing this, no-one had thought of the concept yet.
