Seriously, Dewey rolling over the top of Donald's car still makes me laugh out loud after all the times I watched it. Don't know what it is, the expression, the voice or the action itself, but I still find that bit hilarious. Also, seeing this review a week after me and my girlfriend met David Tennant at the FACTS Convention in Belgium; just pumps me even more for the new season!
Also, y'know, they casually name-drop the Spear of Selene in the premiere, which we of course learn about later on. Scrooge and Donald arguing over it and seeming to focus their frustrations on it, which was a great little bit of foreshadowing.

Probably my most favorite scene in the pilot. If you’ve solved the mystery, this scene hits HARD.

I remember this!
I actually was in a very different place when I first saw this review...it's been a hot minute. Now, I'm watching the old series with my boyfriend as part of his review show...and, wow, the new series is so much better.
I don't mean disrespect to anyone who liked the old show, Sean included...but even to someone like me who grew up on He-Man and She-Ra, the old show hasn't aged well. Of course, I say this coming off an episode that's largely considered the worst of the whole series ("Superdoo", an episode I HIGHLY doubt we'll see remade in the new series), but there you have it.
Even the 'weakest' episodes of the new Ducktales series (YMMV, but for me it's either "Day of the Only Child" or "Missing Links of Moorshire") have good jokes, or neat character moments, or even just hints of the larger story being told. A lot of that is just how different storytelling is today versus in the late 80s, but the stories told in the new series are just...well, better.

Ducktales definetly aged better than things like He-man and She-ra, but mostly because it had more creative intentions other than selling toys.
the goof troop gag 8:13 - 8:17 where max's friend roxanne appears while in a waiting room while donald is waiting to find a job, is a Hoot

And then we learn Dewey was dropped as an egg.
Probably too late to note that Dewey’s full name is Deuteronomy, in the original comics and confirmed to still be in the new series. Dewford is more like a nickname. (Why yes I am a turbo nerd)

While Dewey has a point in that Scrooge isn't really letting his family truly join him on an adventure, my sympathy still lies with Scrooge because of how much of an idiot Dewey is for blindly charging into danger and death and not really trying to avoid anything that can kill him. It's a shame the show ends up siding with Dewey, though I get why it does, since Scrooge needs to open up and include his family more in his life.

Great to see this review! Can’t wait for your review of the season finale! As someone who grew up with the original duck tales cartoon I am really enjoying this reboot quite a bit! The only things I really don’t like are that they made Webby waaaay too OP, and I feel they made Launchpad too stupid. I’ll elaborate on this in your season finale but I feel like Magica was rushed/defeated too easily as well. Other than that I feel the series is incredible! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

You really should make a pros and cons of Season 1 Because the constant shift of the dramatic moments into comedy is relly angering and off putting for example when mark beaks stole the gizmo duck suite it should hawe been a serious moment because it's no telling how he whould use it but he just doing jerkysh dork moments with a sailor moon transformation it's really ruins the serious moment!:(

I want it too! I've been slowly working on the script for it, but the season finale just came at a really busy time -- the script is just about done... it's like... ten pages long!
