"Glomgold, clearly switching the official coin out with one with Heads on both sides.."
    "Glomgold has called Tails?.."
"Glomgold now trying to throw the coin into the ocean.."
"Scrounge, in an attempt to move things along, decides to let Glomgold win the coin toss.."
I was rolling in laughter throughout this scene.😂

DuckTales made golf interesting. Also, my brony of a sister was giggling like a maniac when she realized Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy were voicing the kelpies.

I love how this episode keeps continuity with the first episode by having Scrooge’s fear of being out of the limelight be a focal point. That’s the whole reason he desired to start adventuring again: he was scared of becoming the has been that people already think he is. It really speaks to Scrooge’s own quiet insecurities that he was so threatened by Dewey simply being more naturally talented at golf than he is. There was a lot of good character building in this episode and I loved every moment of it!

I'd definitely be having way too much fun. Any excuse to make cute innocent creatures talk about murdering someone on tv is an excuse I will take any time.

That they got two of the more well known MLP voice actors to do this bit makes it all the more beautiful. That they're murderous water-horses from Scottish folklore is both making fun of and a tribute to how MLP has taken then twisted a lot of mythology for itself.

Thing is, Briar's voice is higher-pitched than Twilight's, Tara sounds like she's doing her Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls voice for her. Andrea Libman does sound a bit like Fluttershy, though.

One theory I had is that Dewey isn't actually better at golf. Notice how he doesn't get good until he's in the other dimension. Notice the built in time limit, and how so many presumably more experienced golfers didn't make it. And remember that the guy who invented golf was very unlucky, while Dewey seems to constantly luck into getting the ball in the hole by other circumstances.
So I propose that the magical golf course was designed to negate that bad luck. It was designed to make just going for it actually work, putting all careful golfers at a disadvantage. Because Dewey just went for it, it just automatically worked for him.
Why didn't Glomgold get the same treatment? Two reasons: he still spent too much time thinking, and, well, he's just that bad at golf. He's so bad that even a magical course designed to help still had him barely making it, and losing at the end for hubris.

    • @KingOfElectricNinjas
      @KingOfElectricNinjas 6 лет назад +6

I think it's more that the course is simply far more favourable to Dewey's beginner's luck and wild swings than Scrooge's experienced, methodical play. Remember that Scrooge has been playing golf for a long, long time, and specifically set out to play on an ancient course he likely knows by heart; he takes his time to make his shots count, and that doesn't work well with an unknown, magical course that constantly throws curveballs and unforseen obstacles. But since the key factor is a time limit, not counting score, Dewey simply hitting away with all his might is the best way to survive. Even Glomgold was doing relatively better simply from winging it. (He himself is noted to do way better when he stops trying to be like Scrooge and otherthinking things, and plays more like Dewey by focusing on the moment)

I like the Duck comics deep cut but I liked the Scottish mythology cut even more. For those who don't know, the evil ponies were Scottish mythical beasts called kelpies or water horses. Kelpies entice people to ride them, then when the rider is on the kelpie's back they rider gets stuck. Then the kelpie charges into the water and drowns the rider. Early versions of the story before cryptozoologists started suggesting it was some kind of long lost plesiosaur say that the monster of Loch Ness was a kelpie.

I LOVED the reference to Black Donald McDuck and Louie's reaction to it too XD Seems the name Donald might just be the key to insane temper tantrums too.
The Keplies constantly trying to get everyone in the water and blatantly saying they should "go for a swim" are perfectly placed amongst Huey and Launchpad's solemn golf commentator talk.

If Donald were there, he'd be lured not by the Pony forms of the Kelpies, but by the more alluring "human" Duck Forms of the Kelpies, because the legend says they have the power to shapeshift, and the only thing that would save Donald would be the mention of DAISY! Not only would the duck-based kelpies and Donald's natural attraction towards them would reference similar performances like in The Three Caballeros, but the Duck-Kelpies would've been a reference to the My Little Pony spin-off: Equestria Girls.

    Two things!
1.) I want a Scrooge and Webby episode!( while that’s happening you can have Donald and the boys or Beakley and the boys as the side plot!)
2.)A Donald and Webby episode( as the side plot you can have a Launch Pad and the boys episode) (But most likely the boys would be with Donald and Webby! They probably be fishing with Donald and Webby came along! Webby would be fangirling the whole episode, while Louie would be Hateng his life at the moment and Huey would be spitting out safety things or mystical things that are in the water! And we all know Dewey would be the one who would be super excited to catch whatever Huey would be talking about! Dewey would probably be told to be quite a couple of times from Donald and Huey! Oh and Donald after finding out that Webby hasn’t fished before, he would help teach her how!) I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO SEE THIS!🤩

I liked this episode. One reason is because I like golf. The commentary with Huey and Launchpad is hilarious! I can see Scrooge and Dewey as opposites in this: Scrooge wants to play the game seriously and Dewey wants to play it the fun way. It’s very entertaining. I especially LOVED the ponies. Cute yet deadly at the same time since throughout the entire episode, they keep trying to convince the family to come into the water, so they can drown them. I LOVE IT!

I do like how they treat the sport in the episode and the characters' reactions to it, and it really highlights how the show can do new things with the triplets' differing characterisations, whereas previously they'd all be expected to react the same way to most things. Instead, the four kids all have their own, very different reactions in this episode.
Huey already has his plans for the day to commentate, participating from the sidelines, while Webby similarly is happy cheering from the sidelines (since she obviously knows absolutely nothing about the sport, but is just happy to be part of a group activity) and Louie has the common reaction of finding it utterly uninteresting unless there's an incentive for him. But Dewey, the most pro-active, attention-seeking and physically inclined of the triplets, takes to it with gusto and a fair amount of beginner's luck. (and, quite implied, probably natural talent that runs in the family) Which causes tension with Scrooge similar to the pilot, where he's happy that someone shares his interests, but also annoyed that they're homing in on his turf. (and there's a consistent element with Scrooge that he's very particular about 'his space')
It doesn't help that the magical golf course is very clearly geared more to Dewey's play style than Scrooge's, even Glomgold does okay when he focuses on just hitting the ball, since the magical course is based on a timer and constantly throwing curve balls while score isn't really relevant.

The thing I love about this episode is it's probably the best episode to show someone if you're trying to convince them to check out the show. It's like a sampler platter of everyone's individual characterization. Huey is very Huey, Dewey is very Dewey, and Louie is very Louie. Webbie gets her awkward, over-excitable moments. You even get to see the masterpiece that is 2017 Glomgold.

Someone else brought up the point that Scrooge is desperately seeking the limelight in this episode (which has been a thing since episode 1).
But I also want to point out that this episode continues the theme of Scrooge continuously placing his family in danger for his own gain.
In "Woo-oo!", Donald blames Scrooge for causing Della's disappearance/death.
In "The House of the Lucky Gander!", Scrooge doesn't show much concern for gambling Donald's freedom against Liu Hai.
In "The Impossible Summit of Mt. Neverrest!", the kids (except for Louie who had common sense to stay behind) almost die from Scrooge trying to force them up the mountain.
In "The Spear of Selene!", Louie has to point out to Scrooge that boasting that he's superior to Zeus isn't doing his family any favours.
In "Beware the BUDDY System!", Scrooge doesn't notice how much he's hurting Launchpad's feelings when he decides to purchase a fleet of the BUDDY robots to be personal drivers. And then Dewey almost dies when the BUDDY prototype goes awry.
This episode just continues to show Scrooge's obsession with glory continuing to endanger his family.
Maybe Donald was correct in saying that Scrooge's actions tend to place his family in peril...

There was some pseudo history in their story about Golf. It was invented in Scotland and was banned by King James 2nd of Scotland in 1457 because it was distracting people from archery practise, James IV unbanned it in 1502 when he himself took up the sport. There is even a couple of Golf courses operating continuously for 500 years! No idea how they came up with the Mooreshire name though seems to be some places in America with that name.

We know that the writers are playing fast and loose with the continuity to the point where they're pretty much making their own. This show takes place in the present day 2016-2018, because there's a Mark Zuckerberg-type character. THIS Scrooge most likely never lived to see the original Gold Rush, so I doubt there will be any mention of it here. I also expect them to completely rewrite parts of his life stories since the Gold Rush is now out.

Yeah, I saw the two leaked episodes which makes it hard since I can't outright say how Duckworth has been handled, jeez, now I know why it's been hard for Aaron Sparrow to stay quiet on this, there's some great stuff. This episode is fantastic & I did watch it again when it aired & recorded it so I can see it again. I adore the murder ponies, they were great. It's nice when you can take something as boring as golf yet make a good episode with it. I'll probably watch it again before we get the next one but once we have the next one, I'll probably watch that 10 times over given it has so many things I like packed into one. Between the mystery, the party guests, & other things that I'm trying to say but spoilers, it all equals out to something fit for my tastes, it makes me wanna play Clue, too bad my friends' schedules don't align often enough. All these episodes we've been getting & are getting are so great, I hope they keep up the good work.

It's kinda cool they threw in a 'My Little Pony' reference, and actually bring in Tara Strong, and Adrian Libman on board to voice those ponies. (I hope Dr. Wolf brings that up.) However, I have one minor nitpick. Why would Launchpad eat golf balls, and even if he mistook them for eggs as he claims, do real ducks actually eat eggs? I know he's not very bright, but that kinda left me scratching my head. Then again, in 'Donald's Nephews', there's a scene where they're about to eat a turkey dinner. So maybe I shouldn't question that.

I really enjoyed this episode I know it came out early and I wanted to resisted just to watch it on time but I had a hard time turning away I love the show and I had to watch it. And when I did it was so much fun this episode comes out as one of the funniest episodes of the show I love the visual gags and gags from the characters. This had a lot more humor than story. Yet I still really joyed it regardless. And when it comes to character development I enjoyed that this was another up so that was on the subject of the dynamic of scrooge and Dewey and we have not received that since the pilots. in this one it is about one of Scrooge's biggest flaws his ego. It is hinted in many other episodes before that he is a very self-righteous man, and this may not come as any surprise he is the richest duck in the world. He is the man who is most successful he is the mighty Mallard and that put him on a pedestal and I think he put himself on a pedestal of being is invincible person. so I don’t think he got frustrated because Dewey was winning with a different strategy I think he got frustrating because he was getting beaten by a 10-year-old LOL. But it’s nice to see him overcome his ego and think about his family first. In the original show it is well demonstrated in countless times that Scrooge is a hard shell but with a soft centre, a golden hearted if you wish to go by LOL. And this show shows more of the friendliest version of Scrooge because he’s more of an adventure junkie then a greedy gold hunting miser. Yet regardless tool that I really enjoyed this episode I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

It took me a second to get who the voice actors for the kelpies were and when I did, I laughed. Those are the voice actors for Twilight sparkle and Fluttershy from My little pony: Friendship is magic. That's fucking hilarious and I love it.

The thing that bugged me the most in this episode was the golf clubs were completely wrong they all looked like Drivers. There should be a putter, a nine iron, a driver, and a wedge.

    • @ericemanwu
      @ericemanwu 6 лет назад +1

It might be an animation short hand, making it easier to draw everything. Although, having lived 3 years of my life learning to golf with only a 6 iron, I'm not exactly resistant to this portrayal since club specialization doesn't mean you can't improvise with other clubs.
Also, I thought they looked more like irons than drivers.

This episode explains where Scrooge got his Medusa Gauntlet that turned Picchu the Gold Hunting Dragon into stone from. Now that Scrooge is the first golfer that make it through the golf course alive and turned everyone who turned to stone back into living flesh, Picchu could have a possible comeback, we can only hope though that a barrier can be put around the money bin in the future.

I 've collected almost All the Comics I could get about Scrooge , etc......Ducktales Stories are so far away from all the Comics' Adventures.....I wish the Script writers would acknowledge Don Rosa and Carl Barks aka Uncle Reno in the making of Ducktales' new episodes.... The History of Scrooge Mc Duck too ....So many Stories are yet to be made to rediscover for all to enjoy....Now It is My Kids time to READ them....Ohh la la ....they are fans too now.
