I need someone who seriously wants to bring an smile to this face and rebuild my engine on my bike. I’ve been done wrong but I know there’s someone who would love to be part of this project.
Good build buddy, I love those motors. I did a 2 valve GS750 with rattle can paint also, it works great until you have to tear it apart again and little chips happen from just removing items.
Hey Ian I definitely have a bit more time I’m just trying to use it efficiently as I have something big that I’m working on behind-the-scenes with Willis but it’s not public yet so keep an eye out for that
Definitely my favorite youtuber rn! Love your work bro! Always so precise and very informative, your seat foam just came in and im Definitely going to be rocking those stickers you sent on my bike!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥
3x5 cards. I put a description of the part on a 3x5 card and put it in the bag with the parts. I will never write on a bag again. You can describe the part and add replace, restore to help with a replacement needed parts list.
not tyre levers but hubcap removers! so on the right thought process. Lol i have been watching these vids for a while and something must have been brewing cos i just got an already cafe'd cb650, seemed like a good deal
Man I know the struggle removing old gaskets :D Sometimes it's more time consuming than disassembly and assembly together. Keep up your work, it is fun to watch your videos
Thank you so much mate and yes I tried all sorts of different methods but didn’t film all of them as I didn’t want to bore you with an Entire video of gasket removal lol 😂
@@CafeRacerGarage actually a video explaining how to remove 30 yrs old gaskets with different methods would be very interesting! for instance what pad did you use on that air die grinder if you don't mind me asking? otherwise, beautiful work on that engine!
Permatex used to make a gasket remover spray that would turn gaskets into mush in 10 minutes. It was some nasty stuff that would cause a nasty burn if you got it on you. They've since replaced it with another remover, but it's not nearly as good. Aircraft paint stripper might work though.
Thank you mate I’ll keep that in mind for next time it’s mainly just the one gasket that you can’t really get around easily which would be handy to have stuff like that
Beautiful build!! What color paint is the too end and valve covers? You have flat black and then a grey looking paint. Is that VHT nu-cast iron? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🏍🏍👊🏽
Dan, your skills and can do spirit are inspiring. Your video editing is equally as impressive. You’re uniquely qualified to share insights into an project I’m pondering. If I build an 865 big bore kit into a 650 twin, do I need to rebuild/ upgrade the throttle bodies / fuel injectors? How about the clutch?
im currently building my first bike ever i have a 1983 kawasaki kz550f i kinda blew up the engine threw a rod and am now in the process of building a new motor from parts its a nightmare in a thousand bits on a table no clue what im doing but the engine looks extremely similar to this one so hopeing this would spurr my motivation and teach me a thing or 2 about how these assemble lol
Was that Kerosene at the beginning? Ive heard the manual recommend cleaning allot of parts with kerosene, is that good with almost everything metal? What about rubber, the paint, or gaskets?
Hello there, could you please tell me if you used Honda’s gaskets or others like Athena gaskets for your engine rebuild? I will be doing my engine soon but not sure which to buy. Athena would be much cheaper but I am not sure about the quality. Thanks
How does that VHT paint hold up? I have used it in the past and I have heated it in the oven as well the only thing I didn't do is sand blast before paint I usually use powder when I sand blast but I am now curious if I sand blast it might actually hold up.
I used their engine paint on an intake manifold of mine baked it in the oven as directed and the only issue I have had is when I had to get the fuel rail out I accidentally split some fuel on the manifold and the paint came off, but that is the only issue I have had and it was my fault not the paints. It hasn’t faded with the heat or anything of the sort
Brilliant work on the motor reassembly, Dan! I’m not exactly sure what those 2 tire iron- looking tools are called, but I’ve seen the dentist using a slightly larger pair on my mother-in-law. 🏍👍🏍
Mate you have surpassed yourself with that paint job, it looks bloody awesome. Can't wait to see it go back in and fire up. Have you left the fins or polished them up?
Thank you mate I haven’t actually decided if I’m going to polish them yet probably leave them as is for now and if I get Chipped I will end up polishing them
Hello Dan Nice work with the engine. I'm also fixing a cbx750 engine that the drive chain from the auxiliary shaft to the crank shaft had broken on. But when I wanted to dry the engine after I washed it a small cylindrical object with a hole I flew out from one of the internal oil pipes. But unfortunately I didn't se from witch one. Any thing you know anything about. Thanks in advance Håkan
Awesome build and video series. This looks to be a 90's DOHC engine like mine. I have a 1991. I haven't had any success finding an engine rebuild kit or even a full gasket set. Where did you purchase your kit? Thanks.
I am not a machanic; however, I have a 1978 CB 750 that I'd like to have rebuit. Any recommendations for a exceptional shop in the Washington, DC/VA/Ma area?
I am really curious on how does a rebuild effect an engine’s life span. Is it good to say this thing is back to its’ glorious 0 miles days? Or there is still some wear and tear on the metal and all?
Thanks great job congratulations. Could you add the names of the products you use? Example red grease, motor paste, ultrasonic cleaner. ;) Thanks thanks bye
The prybar look like tools are tire spoons. A small prybar is quite usefull in the shop as well. Do you vapor blast the parts by yourself or do you take it to a shop?

Very proud we could colaborate 😊 finally a great video of RC42 rebuild!
They are definitely a very cool bike and I’m sure they will get More more popular as years go on. Thanks again mate
We did this to our CB750 in 1974 after throwing a chain and smashing the case. Aviation Welding did an amazing job. You are Amazing
Thank you so much mate
Dan great video! Those two tools look like just plain ole old school prybars, they look to sharp to be tire spoons. Engine looks fantastic.
Thank you mate they are definitely very helpful if I lost them are definitely buy another set
you got all my home pods setting timers you demon! thanks for the build! keep up the great work, ive learned so much from yo[ur videos.

Top work Dan! Giving me the push to get my engine done 👌
Thanx mate :) It’s very rewarding to see it completely finished, just waiting to go back into the frame.

Using a metal gasket scraper can gouge the aluminium and cause oil leaks. I use a plastic scraper and some scouring pads.
Epic work as usual Dan 💪 love it brother

Thanks mate
