I’m currently trying to figure this out as well. 1980 cb750k 05 gsxr 1000 fork and rims. Working on some lathe work to the rear hub and adding some offset to the drive Sprocket. But the tolerances are pretty tight with the chain. Super close to the rim using stock cb740 swing arm

Hi Dan, if the rear sprocket carrier has enough thickness to allow a reduction of 12mm, then remove the studs from the carrier and stick it in the lathe and turn down the 12mm from the face the sprocket sits on. Put the studs back in and job done. I did this on my bike build, but I only needed to loose 7mm. If the turning reduces the thread depth by too much you can always drill and tap a little deeper.
    Spoked wheels get my vote.

Thanx mate, I did think about this but 12mm is a lot to shave off so before I do that im just wondering if I can space out the front sprocket a little, the engine is in 1000 pieces so i can’t exactly check that at the moment

if you use 525 drive chain, the RC30 front sprocket will give you some offset, you could also machine the rear sprocket hub down to move sprocket inboard , Kawasaki disk bolts have longer shanks nearly double that of the Yamaha and Suzuki ones but depending which year model rim you have you may need to convert from M6 to M8 thread to use them or custom order from Pro-Bolt or similar company

Nice work Dan. I think the 5 spoke would be the way to go. I am curious to see how the red paint looks. I wish I had painted my engine, maybe do that next. Looking forward to see how this one goes.

Hey Dan, great work as always. Not a big fan of the spoked wheels myself (too much cleaning!) Looking forward to seeing the progress!

Hey man i have been wanting to get a cb750. i saw a 1980 one at a good price. It looks pretty unmodified but still don't know if im going to comit to it. If i go to check it out what should i look for to know if it is mecanically in good condition?. What are te telltales of a bad engine?
I never had a bike before and i want to start by building my own Keep up te awesome content!

I love spoke wheels but I think they look a little out of place with USD forks on a road bike. It may be cliche but I'd stick to the alloy wheels in gold for a more timeless look.

Hello mr Busy! Full time job making these bikes and films? Wirespoked or cast? Well, depends on the style of bike. Mostly spoked fits, more or less, any style. But ups forks...hmm, probably cast.
What about a modern café racer? Like if the style was invented toady. How would that look?
A café racer were more or less a poor mans tuning. Cheaper to lose weight than to add power.
    Well done! Cheers!

You use petrol to remove silicon. (The solvent base for silicon caulk is petrol based. So petrol will dissolve it. Be warned, it'll go everywhere...)
