Don’t be so hard on yourself, sometimes it’s wiser just to walk away, when I restored my gt750 I had a few times that I just shut the door & walked away , I’d go & have a cup of tea(in the U.K. here)I’d go back 30 minutes later & all would be good again, you guys do a pretty good job at what you do,sometimes things just don’t happen,
I know there are a lot of CB750k bikes out there still but it's an important bike and each one that can be saved should be. You guys do such a great job with the channel building interest for these vintage bikes. Love it!
The issue with most of the CB 750’s now is the price is shooting up everywhere. You gotta be pretty super fast to get one at a reasonable price before the seller starts a bidding war.
@@chrisfezzler2878 it depends on the condition. But the trick is trying to find one that is in decent shape. Not that they don’t exist, but when they do they’re asking 4-8k which is just stupid.
It’s important for us all to see the fails as well as the wins. If you succeed every time, we get a false sense of how easy it all is. Now on to my own CB750 that has been sitting for 20 years. Fingers crossed.

The joy of seeing the inside of the carbs and the key fitting were short lived. Looking forward to you both reviving this one when you get it back to your shop.
I’m 86 and like you get too tired now. Stopped riding two years ago and rebuilt about 7 bikes over the years, one being a Harley Pup 350 side valve which had been sitting in a barn for well over 50 years. Stay well and keep smiling.
Great effort guys, it was a big ask, to get that going and ride it home, so don’t be disappointed. You’ll get it sorted back at the workshop, and it’ll be great to see another CB back on the road
AS a guy who restores old 4 cylinder hondas the plugs are a common problem i have encountered numerous times tried everything including breaking easy outs only way i ever fixed them was to set the head up in a bridgeport drill them to tap size and retap learned that never seize on all the plugs is your best friend good luck really enjoy your videos also they make a cam chain with a master link so you can cut old one to get cam out

Getting the bike running, and then riding it home would have been fun. However, it's always going to be dice roll whether or not a bike which has been parked for decades will be seized tight or not. Kudos for showing the reality this endeavor.
Your channel is about working on bikes, and that's what you did. Yes, you didn't get it all the way to the finishline but that's alright. The moment you said it had stood still for 40-ish years I said "really? You gonna fix that in an afternoon?" 😂.
I always look forward to seeing new videos from you guys. There are many videos of motorcycle restorations on RUclips, but there are few people like you who can realistically show us the whole process from start to finish of restoring a motorcycle pulled out of a barn in bad condition to public roads. I believe that the purchase price of former greats such as CB750, CBX, and Benelli is going up even if the bikes are in poor condition, so I think it is a matter of life and death for you if the restoration does not go well. However, I and other viewers will watch your videos and support you in the hope that you can recoup some of your costs and continue with your next challenge, so please keep providing us your real struggles and challenges in your videos.I really support you guys!
Good to see an honest, real life situation. You're an experienced professional and even you got stymied on this one. Most of us try to do what you do and get stuck much sooner and with far less complex issues. It shows that we're not useless, it happens to the best mechanic we know. I've learned much from your videos and i'm looking forward to see how you handle this problem. And yeah, back issues are a real pain in the ass.....keep the faith brother.
You succeeded in making the right choice of aceptance. No ego-trip-warrior decision to work all night with your injured back. This is WISE. You just won a new sub brother
I hear you that these (can we get it running/ride back) videos do well. Honestly though, watching y’all in stressful time crunch situations makes me nervous, I just like seeing you and Seth build. Would much rather see y’all measured while wrenching in the sweat shop you built, but whatever it takes to get viewers to watch videos, I get it man. Please take care, I know your back pain is no joke and can really eat at the spirit. That said, I think you’re doing amazing work. Keep up the grind. Looking forward to your next video.
I just put up a hugely in depth wiring video Monday and as expected people don't watch it. I'm constantly putting out custom content but for some reason people keep saying I'm not 🤷♂️
@@BrickHouseBuilds I totally get it. I did watch that whole video as well but I do understand the majority of people want the (can we fix it/ then ride home) videos. Just keep doing what you’re doing. Love your work man!
What! You mean you can't do the impossible!!! I once heard a man say that when you give 100% you have given all you have. I think you gave all you can and the impossible is just not conquerable. I think you are one of the best mechanics I have ever seen. Take it home and I would bet nearly all I have that you can fix it. Did your best and no one can ask for more than your best. Keep on.
I've been there and done that. I'm too old to try what you did, load it up and take it back to the shop would be my only way to do it. Don't be so hard on yourself guys! Love watching
Yea don't be hard on yourself buddy. Yall gave it your best ! I grew up riding these old beast 750s, my dad's 1978 ss was my first. I enjoy your videos. I too suffer from life long back problems, I've found that once a good chiropractor got everything aligned right, I got in the gym and strengthened my core, my back does so much better! Just FYI. Hope yours gets better.
Thank ya! This event was the catalyst for finally going to a specialist. After a couple months of PT my back is in better shape than it has been for a decade
Hello from UK. Valiant effort and with severe bad back ! You should take care of that ahead of an old bike. No shame here, some bikes are so "defiant" and that sucker's day will come.... 😉 ps nearly everyone in UK has a "cuppa" tea when they are fed up ... 😄
You can't win them all and at least your viewers know that there are bikes that the magic of RUclips can't fix in minutes. Love the vid, hope your back gets better.
don't feel bad ...be proud that you showed the real deal. That's how it goes sometimes. I have revived dozens of cb750's and generally they roar back to life and can become real everyday riders with surprisingly little work. They usually just want to live, more than any other bikes I have worked on....even the stuck ones. But yeah, you break a plug, it's gonna get ugly and probably very expensive. Ironically enough, I got a candy gold K2 with a stuck motor soaking in atf/acetone in my shop as we speak.
I live on Ottumwa Ave in Ft Myers, FL. I always thought was named after Ottumwa, IA. Pronounced it as you guys do also. Enjoy the vids, lots of detail and explanation. Thanks
You have a new subscriber here from England because I like the honesty of your video. This video demonstrates how hard it is to pull a motorbike or car that has been laid up for decades and get it ready for a road trip home in a couple of days, it takes a phenomenal effort and an awful lot of work and sometimes even the best are unlucky. Keep up the good work guys very entertaining and best of luck with your back injury.
A brilliant vid. Firstly, hope your back recovers quickly. Don’t be too hard on yourselves, it was a big ask once you discovered some of the issues this bike has, but you & Seth put in a great effort just didn’t happen this time, mainly due to not being in the workshop. These are the kind of issues many us non professionals working on older bikes come across & really struggle with. I will be surprised & disappointed if there are any negative comments on this vid as it was excellent. Looking forward to more on this bike & how you resolve its problems.
Been watching you two for a while, finally subscribed tonight. I have a couple of lower back issues too, and some days that's the show stopper for me, not the broken plugs or snapped studs. I have dealt with my fair share of seized up parts, it's never fun, but so rewarding when you finally free them off. Never beat yourself up about taking a step back, it gives you time to come up with ideas and plan your next assault, it also usually saves you from further man-made damage. You'll get there and I'm looking forward to watching the journey 👍
I'd load that thing up and take it home and fix it in your comfy shop. I enjoy watching you guys work at home in the shop more than out in the "field". Then you're near home and can relax there when your back gives out. There's a plug extraction tool that is made to remove those broken plugs. I just watched a video on South Main Auto of him doing that plug extraction. Although you may already have that tool set.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. One thing we know for sure is you make great video's either way. Hopefully you will continue the build at your shop wo we can see it.
I feel yout pain, my 2nd bike was a cb 750 4 k2 when I was 17, fast forward 40 yrs later I bought a supposedly top to bottom rebuilt one but it had some issues, I put it into the main honda dealer who tried for the best part of 2 years to get it perfect, they failed, so if they can't do it with all they're advantages in that time frame maybe it was a little bit optimistic to take a basket case one and turn it round in a day😅, as for the bad back best advice I ever got was 2 use the upside down chair thing. Keep it going
You went out for an adventure, that's exactly what you had. Not the outcome you'd hoped for, but thoroughly entertaining for us watching....and look on the bright side, those carbs were mint 😂 I hope you get some relief from the back pain BJ, I can empathise how debilitating it can be.
Thanks for keeping it real. I too have the notorious lower back issues which prevents such ambitious adventures, such as what I see y’all doing. I have recently found your page and have enjoyed following along with your successes. Keep it up! Get well soon and I look forward to your next vid.
Hey, don't kick yourselves! B.J. take care of your back, you only have one! Chin up guys, you'll get her done & running before you know it! Some days you have it, some days you don't, win some, lose some! NEVER give up!! That steak looked pretty darn good to me! ❤ U GUYS!!
It took me 5 years to revive a Norton 750 that was sitting just as long as yours was. I commend you on the attempt. Still a GREAT bike that deserves the time spent - however short or long - to get her back on the road again.
Great video guys. It’s refreshing to see the struggle when things don’t work out and to share the disappointment with viewers. That’s the reality of life. It doesn’t always go to plan and it’s the display of good character to overcome and move forward. Should have squeezed in that Yamahas DT. Enduro. 2 stroke revival video?
You achieved a lot in one day, in a car park, after an early start ..... you cant apologise about unforseen circumstance ..... its good to see such determination, whatever the result - you know whats wrong and you will get it done. But, more importantly, you did the right thing calling it done with your back issue - continuing wouldnt have done you any good and the bike issues were too much to deal with in that particular situation. Hope the back is easing.
If a Honda ever doesn’t run it’s serious. I had a Honda moped lose it’s wrist pin and chewed up the jug (I know it’s a broken Honda). Me and my step dad dug another one out from behind barn that was locked up tight. We stole the jug and piston, rings seized. But she ran for many many miles after that. It was my only transportation when I was in high school. Still love mopeds
Man wish I would have known you guys were in Ottumwa. I would have come down an and introduced myself. I live here. I knew you were coming to southeast Iowa. I didn’t think it would’ve been Ottumwa. Can’t believe I missed you guys. Win or lose I still like watching you guys. Keep it up. I’ve been wanting to come down to a vintage bike night. Just got my CB 750 going this last spring. Put over 1000 miles on it. Fun bikes to ride. And there are a few O’Riley guys in that store that have been checking out my bike every time I come over there. They like the old CB’s.
I love this kind of "will it run" video. Good try, guys, don't worry about it. A stuck engine and broken plugs doomed you. I look forward to seeing you work on this in the shop. Great channel. Keep up the good work.
Best laid plans of mice and men, many times don't come to fruition! You know what you need to do to repair it, don't worry about it incessantly. It will just take a bit more effort than your other revivals, but you will get it. We all have faith in your abilities. Get your back straightened out first and then worry about it afterwards. ❤😊
Great video guys, this is a major work, the attempt of making this way was brave, but this kind of bikes need more patience and time to unsize the motor, I will love to see more of this bike, don't give up😊
Can't win them all but it still made for compelling viewing, that's what I call field mechanics. The plugs issue was an unforeseeable curve ball, very rare that happens and enough to scupper the mission on its own. More importantly I hope your back problems resolve somewhat, I know what a total bummer that is, the last thing you want to do is make it even worse trying to get the job done. I did wonder how you got the bike loaded up in your condition unless Seth did it solo., that looked super awkward. Hopefully when you've recovered we'll get to see this reluctant machine run once more, good luck guys!

Great content, you can't win every one. You'll get it running again
You succeeded in making the right choice of aceptance. No ego-trip-warrior decision to work all night with your injured back. This is WISE. You just won a new sub brother
@yellowmecanic3369 Well I appreciate it. This bike is coming back soon so we can see what went wrong
I'm constantly putting out custom content but for some reason people keep saying I'm not 🤷♂️
@@BrickHouseBuildsI watched it, it was great, as was this one. Love all your videos.👍
@@BrickHouseBuilds I totally get it. I did watch that whole video as well but I do understand the majority of people want the (can we fix it/ then ride home) videos. Just keep doing what you’re doing. Love your work man!
That XJ Maxim in the corner 👌😍
Don't be so hard on yourself. You got this just take your time! Get back to it another day guys. Hope your back heals quickly.
Keep on.
My back was hurting just from watching. How funny when it came up in the video!
Don't beat yourself up. As has been said, it's good to see all content not just the successes. Great video guys and I hope the back gets better soon!
We all have days like this. Best bet is to take it home and go back to it when you are better. Good luck
Hello from UK. Valiant effort and with severe bad back ! You should take care of that ahead of an old bike. No shame here, some bikes are so "defiant" and that sucker's day will come.... 😉 ps nearly everyone in UK has a "cuppa" tea when they are fed up ... 😄
Dang thing was definitely defiant lol
Well thank you! This was ambitious to say the least but we will get it going before too long
A brilliant vid.
🙏🙏
I'd load that thing up and take it home and fix it in your comfy shop. I enjoy watching you guys work at home in the shop more than out in the "field". Then you're near home and can relax there when your back gives out. There's a plug extraction tool that is made to remove those broken plugs. I just watched a video on South Main Auto of him doing that plug extraction. Although you may already have that tool set.
Great video one of the best you have made looking forward to the next one
Not the outcome you'd hoped for, but thoroughly entertaining for us watching....and look on the bright side, those carbs were mint 😂
I hope you get some relief from the back pain BJ, I can empathise how debilitating it can be.
solid content! You scored the bike and that is a win. I look forward to seeing the bike in your shop. More please!
This is the first time I've seen you guys beat, but there's always another day back free, I'm betting you'll crack it Devon UK🤨
Sometimes a win, is seeing the challenge.
Still love mopeds
you have our support man, great work as always, dont be hard on urself
🤘🤘
Sounds like spinal stenosis of L1-L3 of which I'm quite familiar! You tried your best and Seth will thank you for not endangering his back too!
I love this kind of "will it run" video. Good try, guys, don't worry about it. A stuck engine and broken plugs doomed you. I look forward to seeing you work on this in the shop. Great channel. Keep up the good work.
BHB, you may not like the video; however, I enjoyed watching the experience. One learns more from failure than success. Thumbs up.
Hard luck guys you can't win them all looking forward to your next project
Great video guys, this is a major work, the attempt of making this way was brave, but this kind of bikes need more patience and time to unsize the motor, I will love to see more of this bike, don't give up😊
You’ll get it going! I hate broken spark plugs too. I had a GS450 with a broken plug and it was enough to stop the show for me.
