+Mimi Ikonn OMG so I have to start by saying that I was very skeptical of this "method" until one day when my iPad literally slipped into the bathtub and even though I grabbed it as fast as I could, I was trying to remember quick all the stuff you said!!! wipe wipe wipe TURN OFF, rice! I let it sit in the rice for a few days I was scared to even check on it because while you may have spilled tea on yours, mine took a full dive in my bathtub! Remind me to NEVER try to watch a movie while taking a bath. Amazing amazing news, after a few days of sitting in the rice, I finally turned it on and guess what?? it's perfect, good as new! I recommend you should use the silicon case for the keyboard so if you spilt water on it you just need to wipe the case only. Because I have read somewhere that rice can damage the components inside the Macbook and Iphone :)

silly. people who do not have money to throw away, take far more precautions with their nice equipment. I would NEVER sit a cup of anything near my laptops and I have several of them.

Hi Mimi, just as a side note, you don't need to press the home button to turn off your phone. In fact, that's the method you should use when you need to essentially reboot your phone. For turning off your phone simply press and hold down the side button until you're prompted to turn off your iPhone.
There are only silent switch and volume buttons on the side of iPhone

Why didn't you google how to fix it?? My iPhone drowned in the bath and I saved it by googling the problem. I soaked it for a whole day in rice

where was this video when i spilled tea on my keyboard, it started writing symbols instead of letters and I had to go to LondonMac and pay £210 to replace the keyboard.. Thank you Mimi for this video!! I never realized you could use the rice trick on MacBooks as well!

Hey Guys!! I watched this and I tried it. It was the worst idea ever. As soon as I spilt water, I switched it off and wiped it was much as I could. I waited around 3 hours. Tried to turn it on and it turned on fine. Switched it off and just before I went to bed, I UNFORTUNATELY WATCHED THIS VIDEO!!!
I put rice on my laptop. I woke up, I waited till like 12pm and I removed the rice and tried to turn it on. It wasnt turning on at allllll.
I was devastated. I went to the repair centre, they opened it up and they told me there is liquid as well as rice. The rice did more damage than good.
Please just turn it off. Be patient and take it to an expert. This woman is not in any way trained to even make this video. Listening to her I ruined a MacBook that had some chance of recovering.

Oh man I seen a guy on here on RUclips spray his laptop with a dish sprayer. The laptop worked itself but the touch pad and the keyboard didn't work after that. I said what are you doing that for, don't you realize it screws it up even worse?

Spilt milk, shut it down, wiped it, turned it on, realised the loading screen was on, then it doesn’t turn on, I freak out, I shake it, crys, calls mum and then I watch this and I still refuse to put rice on it lol.
I mean she pretty much seems happy in the thumbnail that she spilled water on her laptop XD
This method will, unfortunately not work with the new Apple MacBooks (2016 mbp and newer) as the computer will try to turn on with the slightest touches to the trackpad or the keyboard itself even if it's shut down entirely.
