I'm really glad James took the initiative and designed a fully-functioning lot in this style that meshes with the rest of the world. I know that a lot of Simmers were really annoyed and disappointed by the fact that the beautiful pier area was a lot of set dressing with no gameplay/access.
I really wish the Sims team would put in more apartments, it'd be nice to have two or three apartments in the city area of San Sequoia. Like couple or small family just starting out before moving to the suburbs. I really like apartments, but I get tired of playing in San Myshuno or Evergreen Harbor
That won’t ever happen because apartments only come with city living. It defeats the purpose of buying the pack if they start adding apartments in other worlds now too.. :/
@@liesvandorsselaer7281nowadays that doesn’t really matter. They put apartments in Eco Lifestyle and recycle content constantly. Photography used to be a Get to work thing, hot tubs exclusive to a stuff pack, a lot of CAS items and some build items became basegame. If a pack is old enough, it‘ll get recycled in a subtle way.
I LOVE playing in apartments!! And I was very disappointed when I found out the new world does not have any but I built my own apartment complex and pretend my family lives in an apartment. Its a bit annoying when it comes to bills but it's so much fun as well!
A lot of the small towns could use a few apartements to be honest. I would love some in Brimbelton Bay and Brightchester for example. Would love another big city as well though...
suuuper cute build! fun facts: manzanita means little apple in spanish, so this is the little apple rec center. literally the cutest name for an infant/toddler friendly rec center!
That is an adorable name for a small child friendly rec space (I have a soft spot for plant related names when I comes to young child raising I feel like it adds an implication of growth and nurture that I just find nice on a linguistic level)
I think you did a really good job on this build! It fits really well into the surrounding area and I think all of the Bigwallets will get a lot of use out of this lot! Maybe one of the kids can have a birthday party at the other “arcade” lot?
This is nice!! The shell of this could be anything - different "shops", apartments, or even like the idea in the university LP - a family house with personal building.
I love the idea of the whiteboard thing in the computer room, my local library has a room like that and it's used for community classes in IT skills or photoshop or similar so can imagine it being used for that
This rec center reminds me of the "culture houses" we have here in Mexico, they are like repurposed old buildings (often convents) that are used to give classes or workshops. I once build one on the sims 3 lol
So excited to see this build during the letsplay! The “family room” is so accurate - reminds me of a public nursing / changing room I’ve seen before irl.
I’m literally making this into apartments right now! (I have an obsession with turning everything into apartments atm lol) I love the stage you made up the top 🙌🏼 & the building fits into the world PERFECTLY 💚
As I was watching the stage area being built, all I could think about was WHY don't we have a drum set yet? We've got guitars, microphones, keyboards and violins...all a "Sims band" needs is the drums! Why Sims Team Why? The chaos of kids learning to play would be everything.
The fridge works fine, I believe. I think you're confusing it with the vending machine from Get to Work. Also a science table would be great in here. You don't actually have to own your own science table to do the old mental skill aspiration, so having one in a community lot is always handy.
@@TeruteruBozusama Yeah, that too. But I meant the fact that there are also items that look like fridges, but don't function either at all or not quite like a fridge (like that vending machine) is what makes it extra confusing. If everything that looks fridgey in the game could also be used like a fridge people probably wouldn't think twice about it, but because a lot of fridge-esque items don't work as regular refrigerators you see a fridge that looks different and think, "Wait. Was this thing actually a functional fridge ... or...?" I admit I didn't put that quite as clearly as I should have above though. I'm sorry for the confusion.
I still don’t have all the packs yet but that light fixture over the stairs is everything and makes me want more packs! I love the way he can make a build fit with the rest of the world with the items he has!!
I did a build like this in that area and it was such a pain finding the colors to match. i wish they had more of the options that they have for the debug stuff. It looks really great though! It is always fascinating to see your beginning process.
I really love this space, it feels so full of life and realistic. I can really imagine Quinn leading and arts and crafts club with some kids (maybe it could be a good way for the kids to socialise even more?) and having some of the children’s drawings like the placemat drawings on the walls in the craft area. ❤
You did an amazing job blending the lot in with the other buildings in the world! When you showed it off in your livestream, I didn’t even notice that it was a buildable lot until you went down a level 😄
And looking around the rest of the world with the bright colors they could've taken inspiration from places like Jellybean Row in St John's Newfoundland and Labrador,
I’ve got to commend you for such incredible builds. I love how much it matches the rest of the world too! It’s funny how you forgot about some toddler potties but it’s amazing anyway.
I'm amazed how huge you managed to build that place in such a small lot, I love the amount of different activities you added and specially the family room I found it's a very kind detail.
That enclosed computer room actually reminds me of my high school - in the computer lab we had a separate smaller room, glass all around, that was used for clubs and small groups that needed computer use, we called it The Bubble. Thank you very much for making me remember that!
Please go through the world & fix the other bigwallets. Hazel & trentons new kids need to be teenagers or when they die they will go missing. Also Nina needs to not be in rags anymore. And Addison & Hilary are still dressed as teenagers even though they’re grandparents. Kinda how you went through & fixed everything after the Get Famous let’s play
I think there could be residential property there, but like old factories or warehouses that have been converted. There's an old industrial area here in Houston that has been converted to lofts and nightclubs. The roads are absolute garage because the old train tracks are still there, but it's a pretty cool and "trendy" area to live.
I changed this lot into a warfside style bar with a big covered patio out back to take in that incredible view. It really makes no sense as residential. The rec center looks so cute! I love the colors.
I reeeeeally love the background builds in this part of the world. Im going to download this build just for the shell, you did a phenominal job on them and I want to makw them stores in my game 😍❤️
Does the three story open air space remind anyone else of Lady Bigwallet’s art emporium? Particularly with the windowed office at the top of the stairs and the computers looking down onto the first floor. I love this so much!
Seeing all these San Fran builds is really making me want to do a Rainbow Row (Charleston, SC) inspired build! I don't think I've seen anyone else build them but it's probably only popular with people in my area lol. The rec center looks great of course! I don't have this pack but I could definitely repurpose this shell for something bc it's lovely ❤
Am I the only one to think that ALL the books in the second level will be covered with paint irl, because of the children art tables . . . 🙃 (Love the build tho ❤)
I absolutely love this build. I think the only thing I would change is on the upper level, having the individual seats (near the kids tables) next to the windows or looking out on the water and bringing the bookshelves to the other side to maximise the view! Other than that, its so creative and has something for every sim! Amazing job!
I like this lot as a residential, I put 2 or 3 townouses there and either play a story that the family bought all of them, or get roommates and lock them out of my part of the house.
With twisted mexi’s better build/buy all the debug plants are organized in the menu with the regular plants. It also makes it so you can eyedrop debug items!
07:55 The Realm of magic windows would probably work better. They have a plain black and white swatch and I think they matched a little bit better. :))
the changing table room with the couch in it also is very similar to rooms places like large malls or airports will have for people who are breastfeeding children to use. super cool!!
I love this! I wanted to build something like this here, but I got overwhelmed by the size of the lot. So I haven't used this lot yet. I hope it's okay that I just use the shell and convert it back into a residential lot. I know it's weird as a single home but I really don't care. I kinda like odd looking homes anyway. lol
Love it James! You blended it in with the world so beautifully and you’re right to be proud of the open three story area, looks amazing! Very inviting… although I hate heights so irl I would hate it 😂
I actually really like the rec center lot type because I can travel there with my whole family and they can all have something to do without me having to juggle traveling back and forth to take care of all of them
If you’re into architectural history look up “San Francisco Painted Ladies”. They’re 2-3 story condos/homes. As historical landmarks it is hard to get permission to tear them down and rebuild, so the newer parts of San Fran built around them.
I'm really glad James took the initiative and designed a fully-functioning lot in this style that meshes with the rest of the world. I know that a lot of Simmers were really annoyed and disappointed by the fact that the beautiful pier area was a lot of set dressing with no gameplay/access.

Maybe one of the bathrooms should have a toddler potty? ^^
Wanted to comment the same! A rec center for families should definitely include a potty
@HollowLunax It is, but I do think that fully potty trained toddlers prefer using the potty.
A toilet with a toddler seat attached would be a cool addition.
Yep. I’m 17 minutes in and getting kind of stressed about that.
This is great! Can’t wait to place it in my game!
James’ build style is very much “trust the process” lol and it always ends up super innovative, aesthetic, and functional. Love it!
That's also how he approaches his Let's Plays, and what makes them so imaginative, enjoyable and unique.
