i'd just like to say that your use of that little space by the stairs to make a landing has blown my mind. i usually twist the stairs themselves around to make a landing, but using platforms as a landing instead is genius. love it!
I love the idea of you building a treehouse hangout/music space for Rye that connects with a bridge, but it would be fun to ALSO have the in-game treehouse in the yard as well for the kids, so you could do the new gameplay with the kids - also it would be kinda cute, like they wanted to be just like Uncle Rye and were always going into his treehouse and messing with his guitar so he built them their own kids treehouse. But they still use the upstairs window and his treehouse ladder to sneak out as teens.
I would definitely do two showers in that master suite, very fancy big house vibes! Also the landing by the stairs I wonder if the kids drawing desk would work there?
Whenever I make upstairs areas like that, I like to just put stuff up there like the christmas tree, decoration boxes, bassinettes I might use again some day. Just typical attic junk.

I think this might be one of my favorite builds from you! Everything looks so warm and cozy, and I can’t wait to see it fully furnished! (Also you mentioned how this house is almost a dream house 👀 but I would love to see you build an actual dream house 👀👀👀)
Great video and great house ! Concerning the nook behind the stairs, I have several ideas : - the simple one : put the decoration box from season here, to 'hide' it, and still have it for the holidays of your family ;) - put an activity table for kids, so they can create stuff there (that would include friendship bracelets so... fun and on brand with the pack and family gameplay) - put a one tile desk and a computer there, since I don't think i saw one yet. - make it a little nook with a bookcase and several books, and maybe a chair if it fits And i'm sure they are more possibilities ^^
single story homes are a lifesaver for family gameplay because especially toddlers go to the most random places and them walking up and down stairs just takes ages. had one of them taken away once because the game glitches and they wouldn't stop walking up and down stairs on a house with 3 stories and tall wall hight.
I recently redid my 100 baby house and its 3 story (the lot is super narrow) and its definitely making me want just a huge one story house. This is such a great idea!
Please use the sneak-out window when you build the bridge to the tree house! When the kids are teenagers they gotta be able to sneak out lol. If you want to make it more scandalous, put a juice keg or a bubble blower and perhaps a card table in the tree house. You could also create a group with the teens' friends and choose those activities specifically to ensure that they all go into the treehouse when gathering.
What a beautiful house! Always appreciate your videos! I’m also not a fan of 2 story homes when I’m playing with toddlers because they take forever to climb up and down them 🤣
I love watching James' builds, it is so therapeutic and he does a phenomenal job. I hope once Willow and Ash age up and we have to kick them out for space in the household that they stay over for loads of time
18:00: Would that little storage space on the stairs be big enough to store the box that you get the Giftday Decorations etc. out of ? ... just a suggestion (but I cant remember how big that box is 😁)
@@giggiwidit5638 I always size it down and stash it somewhere on the lot, since sims don't actually need to interact with it for the put up decorations option. If I want to rummage, it's draggable in live mode so it gets pulled out so they can access.
You could hide the decor box in that little space next to the stairs. I honestly hate that box now. It only has 3 swatches and it's the only one we have. I always hide mine away somewhere so I don't have to look at it. 😅
I'd love to see how many sims can be staying in a home without cheats! If you befriend someone with a large family and nobody else, they'll invite themselves over with everyone else in their home. Then your own full household could work on more friends quickly and start planning stayovers. I suppose I'll need to do it myself to see.
Can totally relate to having ideal laundry! We just moved our laundry from our basement to the second floor next to the bedrooms... it's right off the hallway and is not a room by any means but oh my goodness having laundry so easily accessible and not having to go up and down so many flights of stairs... it's fun being an adult.
Rye can have his kitchen and bathroom as it makes sense in terms of piping and all. Also you should increase the household size with MCCC and once willow and as are teens they can have access to ryes space through attic, coz older children have a different bond with the fun uncle or aunt
Love the house!! You really did a good job on the roof, I am really impressed, and with all those small walls not painted, I would not even notice. I have a few suggestions, since you are going to have a large family, maybe get another clothesline, and if the dryers were working and wouldn't set the house on fire, a dryer, and extra washer as well. And since you got that backyard, why not put something out there for the kids to play in like a swingset, basketball hoop, or monkey bars. That way they can build up their fitness--as well as a swimming pool. Oh, how about using those pads in the water park??? You can make a play place for the kids so they can have a knock oust slumber party in the Summer--or Winter where you are from. And how about a small bbq place where they can cook outdoors,--but you can add this on later as your sims get more money. Once again you did a beautiful job on this build and I am getting inspired, but one thing is for sure, I won't be tackling a roof like that any time soon. I will leave that to you.
Thank you!! I totally agree it’s an oversight not having larger lots in this world ! Your the first simmer I’ve seen say this. Also looove how gameplay friendly this house is. ❤
This is absolutely a dream home!! Can’t wait to see the family move in 😊 Single story is such a good idea, especially with infants and toddlers. Wish I had growing together so I could put this house in my game ❤
In the alcove you could put either the decorations box from seasons, or the keepsake box on a nice shelf. You could also put the thermostat from seasons and umbrellas there!
This is great I love playing in one story homes it makes gameplay so much easier. There are very few of them on the gallery, Could you and Deli please fill a gap in the gallery by building us some one story starters for newly weds or singles and a next size up for their next family home to move to. Thanks to you both in advance :)
This is literally a DREAM home for me. 😭 that back deck is GORG! Also, please use the stair landing as plant central! It would be so nice to have so many plants there!!
I love seeing a large one-story house. I grew up in Florida and most houses, even large ones, didn't have a second floor because it gets too hot. I imagine you'd have a lot of similar style houses in much of Australia for the same reason.
Playing with so many infants and toddlers has made me wish that I had built them a single floor home. However, like you pointed out, the lots are so small in San Sequoia that a second story is almost necessary. But going up and down the stairs takes so long, especially the toddlers' pace. This build is gorgeous! Love the large living/kitchen room area! And the idea to turn the upstairs into a guest area is fantastic!
This is definately a dream home!! ♥ I'm sold! The alcove is a lot of fun! Perhaps it can connect to the area behind the stairs, with a ladder or something quirky like that. The one thing I'd try is changing the direction of your dinner table. Because I think it might work even better in this space.
I love having Rye living in the alcove, it's like Quinn is trying to encourage him to get his own place. Or just that he's an eccentric uncle that wants to live under the stairs.
Lovely home James!!! I'm not a fan of the craftsman style, but it is still a very nice house and I loved the decoration in the guest room. Lots of love for you, Deli and Bowser from Argentina 🇦🇷❤️
The little staircase nook would be a great place to put the holiday decor boxes. Put a few different ones and then it's like a "hiding clutter" kind of nook!
looks great! i think the only thing you may need is a small office area. you could go back to the weird 1x3 space and turn it into a tiny computer area like Ryan’s desk in The Office 😂
I’ve been searching the gallery for single story family homes and finding very few that are large enough for our growing family. This is a call out to builders! I’ve got what I call “Stair Fatigue” from having two toddlers in my two story homes. I’ve learned to lock the basement door! One story looks like the way to go!
Love the house and the alcove for Rye. One building tip: You should flip the bathroom attached to the kitchen so that the entrance is from the hallway instead. It would make more sense and be like a guest toilet.
Love the alcove! For the stair landing you could put either a study nook or a kids play area, maybe the puppet theatre? Also there should be a sports car in the garage which belongs to Rye since he doesn’t have any kids.
When I have little 1x3 spaces in houses I always put a door on it, and put the seasons decorations box in there as if its like some storage closet for old decorations and wrapping paper!
This is an incredible build! The only thing I'd change for real life would be for the washer and dryer to be next to each other cos I wouldn't want to lug wet clothes across the room haha
You could move the stairs back one, onto what is currently the platform, so the platform area is in front of the stairs when looking from the living room and we can see what is there. That could be a good space for a toy box or a blarfy, or a drawing table.
On the little platform space by the stairs I would put in a tiny reading nook. My introverted book loving inner child would love that space to curl up and read.
I have been bouncing between two story and one story for my current sims family (mom, dad, infant, toddler, and two dogs) because it just takes so long for sims to get to the kids, get the kids downstairs, etc. but then I also need them to have a home office, (both parents use computers for work) and space for exercise equipment (don’t ask how it happened with two kids and two dogs but parents both love fitness lol) so this is very helpful, especially for a huge family
A suggestion for the platform behind the staircase: close off the little bedroom nook under the stairs and raise it to match the platform, reshuffle it a bit and you have a "out of sight out of mind" sleep nook!
I like simple single story homes because I'm such an out of sight, out of mind person. My dream James video has always been a kind of scientific endeavor to build the most efficient house, like finding the layout/size and items that enble an average sim family to meet their needs the fastest. I feel like James would be the ideal simmer to try his hand at that.
Looks great. The nook on the staircase could be used to store you holiday box stuff. Maybe put some other decorative boxes and/or the painting décor stuff too. Too look like a catch all area by the stairs.
I'm so happy that I got another single-story house from James! I love his single-story houses, such as the Island Living one he did a few years ago. It's always a pain for me to build in the Sims because I only use single-story houses and most builders upload muti-story buildings.
This house, just one word.. wow !! Really like the wood and stone on the interior, and the space so much space, great work !! Just one idea maybe move the piano and put a fireplace instead? And I can't wait to see the "tree house project" love the idea
I’ve been looking forward to the uncle Joey alcove since you first mentioned it! Please have Rye live there, at least for a while. Uncle Joey was a comedian too! “Cut it out!✂️”
I believe that sims go to the most expensive/upgraded sink. Using the same sink and upgrading them with the same upgrades has made my sims use the nearest sink instead.
Amazing house, can't wait for the game play to take us there. As an acess to the house from the future Treehouse I would recomend the window from Highschool years - to give Rye that sneeking in and out feeling :) Also that nook on a platform could become a place for a keepsake box once Hilary will pass it down - it's out of view yet saparate enough to not forget about it with future generaation. Especially if transform that space almost into a small "shine" for the keepsake box.
The biggest issue I've ran into since this pack came out is not just that my sims want to use the sink on the other side of the house but they refuse to use the dishwasher at all, they go to a sink across the house instead, I've moved the dishwasher into different spots, made sure nothing was on top of the cabinets and everything and they still won't use it.
I love the last few lets plays with family - it’s a different challenge than rags to riches, it’s nice with something a little different from you 😃 Love the chaos of a big family and stay-over guests
I finally feel validated lol My laundry is in the hall and this summer we are renovating the garage and I am getting an ACTUAL laundry room. So freaking pumped
This house fits perfectly the vibe of the big family and there's room for a big backyard too to have fun stuff for the kids, I'm looking forward watching how it changes when you move the household. Fyi, I don't mind that Deli and you end up uploading two builds with the same color scheme haha, but they are pretty different in style though.
my house is very similar! esp with the upstairs. it has a guest room/bath that's locked to the family. but the landing area is a playroom so I can put all the kids stuff up there like their activity tables etc. I even put a ladder in a first floor "closet" to make a cute way for the kids to go up there lol.
Perhaps move the upper staircase so its against the wall and use the little space for a large planter or just pot plants. Planters in lounge rooms used to be a thing last century. Great build. ❤
There's quite a bit of houses here in America whether they are colonial, Victorian or Craftsman style homes with bathrooms right in the kitchen. Mostly half bath without a shower. Very common from East Coast to West Coast
I think it would be fun to save the house so you’ve got a copy, then gut it down to the very bare essentials (taking what you have with you) and slowly renovating it as you earn money! Then it would be much cheaper to buy and you can get the excitement of renovating/furnishing as you go. I love to do this with my sims because you get a real sense of achievement! As you earn money you can do the kitchen/buy a better TV etc like in real life 😊
Awesome, I've been on the hunt for 6 bedroom houses for my legacy. Single stories are easier to play in TS4 because sims take forever to walk up/down stairs. I usually use 1x3 rooms for a compact half bath (I have one in my IRL house, actually) but I like what you did with it! I think a circular table would fit better in the dining room. Incidentally, I grew up in a family of 8 and when we had guests we brought out a second dining table.

this is the kinda house i've been tryna find and/or make for my sims ! i want a large family, so this is absolutely perfect !!!
I soooo agree on what you said in the beginning!! I am so sick and tired of 30x20 lots
Our two story house also had the bathroom connected to the kitchen area. Right by the backdoor, and the laundry hookups, all in the kitchen space.
I've been dying for a build video 😭😭😭🧎🏾
I wish james did more build videos, I really enjoy them.
I love the single story homes... I'm not as good as you with the camera and going up and down to see my sims. thank you James!
Great build James, I’ve got an idea for the LP. Have the kids meet Column and Plahn Tayne, it would be cool for them to make a return.
So excited for this house! It looks both so spacious yet homey, and so thought through
I used to live in a townhouse that had a half bath off of the kitchen, it was weird but it was the best place for it.
I grew up in a single level home, so these builds r making me so nostalgic I love it
I think it’s very cute that you two, when building family homes, landed on very similar style of house🤔🥰
You can use that 3x1 space to add stairs for the basement 🏡
...and pushing back the trim and the columns in the hallway.
James adding two sets of microphones and guitars and no outdoor trashcan is so on brand with this channel lol
Maybe this is broken or not dishwasher?
I really like the house and especially the roofing. It looks like a Lego roof with all the small pieces of roof into one. Chef's 💋!
my house is very similar! esp with the upstairs. it has a guest room/bath that's locked to the family. but the landing area is a playroom so I can put all the kids stuff up there like their activity tables etc.
