"And you know you're getting older when having a laundry room is a dream, but.."
FEEL THAT.
You definitely know your childhood is officially over when you get 20% sale on fridge+freezer combo e-mail and you go "nice" 😅
I recently invested in a dryer and it has been the best purchase I’ve made in YEARS, a new computer included 😅 definitely feel the sentiment xD
I have a (tiny, tiny) laundryroom now and I am overjoyed 😅
eh my first dream is to get an apartment that isn't just a one bedroom like my current one.. an extra bedroom would be nice because I have friends stay over often
I was 20 when i first got my own apartment and I got fucking excited about cleaning products
I honestly enjoy single story so much more. I feel like two story is nice but it slows the pace down
Yeah, I avoid multi level homes, because I hate having to go back up and down. I will either delete the upper floors, or avoid those houses altogether. It gets chaotic in the stressful, put the game down for 8 months kind of way.
Yes! I am a single story player for sure.
I think you misinterpreted the title… or it’s the joke then … eyyy (shrug
@@Purrsephone19 Same.
@@Purrsephone19 Another option I do is get a gigantic house, with enough bedrooms for me downstairs, and then I empty all the rooms upstairs so no one ever goes upstairs. The problem is big single story buildings tend to look ugly in the Sims, so I get a multistory instead so the outside looks cute, but just keep my Sims from ever using the second story.
I agree, it’s so weird how small the lots are when it’s literally a family pack that kind of encourages big families… my family has a cute little house but routing is sometimes a pain…
Hey at least that's somewhat realistic when you live in a small house with narrow halls
Exactly!
i also wish not every 20x30 lot was sideways, some more variation would be nice!! sometimes i feel the houses end up looking or being way smaller than if the lots would be rotated
The highschool pack world is so damn beautiful, especially the seaside/dock lots. But it's so tiny. Same for Tartosa. I wish all were bigger.
You can move the kitchen bathroom door to the entryway, so that sims can still use the bathroom real quick when leaving or when coming home.
I was thinking that too!
yeah that would've made more sense idk why James stuck to the original layout when the original was a pantry lol
Bathrooms directly off the kitchen are gross too
Hindsight is always 20/20
The stair landing space would be such a good reading nook, especially for the kids, I would love to put a little bean bag or smt in a corner like that
agreed
This house is perfect for me I’m a family style based gamer but get so overwhelmed by multiple story houses + it’s so easily customizable; Im pretty sure this house is about to become a staple in my saves !!
It’s also a realistic thing to want if the household includes elders, since they (at least IRL) generally prefer to have everything they need on one level.
I also hate multiple story houses in the Sims 😂
Should definitely MC command center the amount of Sims in your household, so the potential triplets could be born into the household, I'm all for going "cheaper by the dozen"... Oh the wonderful chaos!!
The only problem is that I'm pretty sure you can't go in cas when you have more than eight Sims because it will delete Sims, unless that's been somehow resolved at some point
if you use mc command centre to go into cas it doesn’t do this
@@BlueSodaPop_ Exactly! That has happened to me twice, so now I no longer use it. :(
@@BlueSodaPop_i think there is a way to fix that by modifying the sim without entering CAS for the entire family
I agree with this, kicking the two oldest kids out but letting uncle Rye stay just seems very unlikely for me, and doesn't make a lot of sense storyline wise imo
You should make that a little study nook on the stairs with one of those single desks. Or like a secret kids space where they can play alone and their siblings won’t find them 🤣
omg a cat/dog door to it so only toddlers can get in lmao. Or if he gets pets a little pet loungeroom! I love it
“You really don’t have the space to … you know, Grow…together.”
😂
I do wish the lots were larger!
That doesn't even take into account space for a treehouse
I love how the house turned out ☺
btw you can put the holiday decoration box on the platform next to the stairs 😆
Good idea 👍
I was going to suggest the same, then I saw your comment!
This is a good idea! I can never find a spot for that!
4 minutes in and I’m already so jealous of how good James is at roofing.
I can tell this is gonna be a fantastic build. 😁
… and there were sooooo many roof pieces involved 😱🥺
I love building and uploading to the gallery but the roofing. I feel so bad at it. 😭
Whenever I make upstairs areas like that, I like to just put stuff up there like the christmas tree, decoration boxes, bassinettes I might use again some day. Just typical attic junk.
I love the idea of you building a treehouse hangout/music space for Rye that connects with a bridge, but it would be fun to ALSO have the in-game treehouse in the yard as well for the kids, so you could do the new gameplay with the kids - also it would be kinda cute, like they wanted to be just like Uncle Rye and were always going into his treehouse and messing with his guitar so he built them their own kids treehouse. But they still use the upstairs window and his treehouse ladder to sneak out as teens.
i'd just like to say that your use of that little space by the stairs to make a landing has blown my mind. i usually twist the stairs themselves around to make a landing, but using platforms as a landing instead is genius. love it!
This is one of my FAVORITE videos & builds from you. I always look for single story for the same reason. I hate not knowing where my sims are. This house is awesome!! Can’t wait use it in my game!!!
I would definitely do two showers in that master suite, very fancy big house vibes! Also the landing by the stairs I wonder if the kids drawing desk would work there?
James : "I tried to make this house cheaper by using minimal furnishing so we can afford it later"
Also James: puts a whole vertical piano in the living room
Me: Ah😃
We need it, it came with the pack 😂
Also added a big tv in bedroom 😂
@@Fnuller92 Ah you're right how could I forget that? Then I take everything back we absolutely needed the piano😂😭
@@salco9328 makes sense to me😂
There is a mod you can get that keeps the dream home decorator shelves up when you put the walls down. Amazing build as always ❤
Finally the alcove! I love it!
And Ryes “own room” will of course be in the treehouse
It's like they built it for him and he said "Yeah, thanks, I'll stay in my tree. You guys are a bit much".
I think this might be one of my favorite builds from you! Everything looks so warm and cozy, and I can’t wait to see it fully furnished! (Also you mentioned how this house is almost a dream house 👀 but I would love to see you build an actual dream house 👀👀👀)
The space behind the stairs on the platform seems PERFECT for the decoration box 😂
I've grown to love single-level homes so much, and this build is amazing.
Great video and great house !
Concerning the nook behind the stairs, I have several ideas :
- the simple one : put the decoration box from season here, to 'hide' it, and still have it for the holidays of your family ;)
- put an activity table for kids, so they can create stuff there (that would include friendship bracelets so... fun and on brand with the pack and family gameplay)
- put a one tile desk and a computer there, since I don't think i saw one yet.
- make it a little nook with a bookcase and several books, and maybe a chair if it fits
And i'm sure they are more possibilities ^^
single story homes are a lifesaver for family gameplay because especially toddlers go to the most random places and them walking up and down stairs just takes ages. had one of them taken away once because the game glitches and they wouldn't stop walking up and down stairs on a house with 3 stories and tall wall hight.
I find so many sim builders always build really tiny houses and I LOVE that you give us big builds. Great build.
I love having Rye living in the alcove, it's like Quinn is trying to encourage him to get his own place. Or just that he's an eccentric uncle that wants to live under the stairs.
Yes!! I’ve been waiting for a video like this, can’t wait to see the family move into it. Loving the series so far!
What a beautiful house! Always appreciate your videos! I’m also not a fan of 2 story homes when I’m playing with toddlers because they take forever to climb up and down them 🤣
Please use the sneak-out window when you build the bridge to the tree house! When the kids are teenagers they gotta be able to sneak out lol. If you want to make it more scandalous, put a juice keg or a bubble blower and perhaps a card table in the tree house. You could also create a group with the teens' friends and choose those activities specifically to ensure that they all go into the treehouse when gathering.
This house is so Aussie and it makes me unreasonably happy to see our homes represented in this game :')
I dont think sims mainly having 20x30 lots was an oversight in this pack, it adds a little bit more realism to the game. A lot of craftman style homes are typically on smaller lots & being that it's about growing large families it encourages players to move house to larger lots that may be in different worlds and make use of the different gameplay options like having family reunions. Like what's the point of having a family reunion if the entire family lives in the same house/neighborhood 😂 & often when families grow they may move due to job changes to afford larger families or being convenient to being closer to other family members
I recently redid my 100 baby house and its 3 story (the lot is super narrow) and its definitely making me want just a huge one story house. This is such a great idea!
I really like the exterior colors! Nice choice. Your house looks more craftsman-y than the decorative ones around the neighborhood.
That 1x3 spot might be a good place for basement stairs one day!
I think it would make a lot of sense making the upstairs an art studio/ skill building space once your LP family moves in.
This is one of my favorite builds you’ve done. Amazing job, can’t wait to see the LP family in it!
18:00: Would that little storage space on the stairs be big enough to store the box that you get the Giftday Decorations etc. out of ? ... just a suggestion (but I cant remember how big that box is 😁)
The box is only 1 square, with access needed on one side, so it should be able to be tucked away on the landing.
@@Laurastar2009 Woohoo !!! 🤗
@@giggiwidit5638 I always size it down and stash it somewhere on the lot, since sims don't actually need to interact with it for the put up decorations option. If I want to rummage, it's draggable in live mode so it gets pulled out so they can access.
@@bluefairywren Cool 😎😁
Love the house!! You really did a good job on the roof, I am really impressed, and with all those small walls not painted, I would not even notice. I have a few suggestions, since you are going to have a large family, maybe get another clothesline, and if the dryers were working and wouldn't set the house on fire, a dryer, and extra washer as well. And since you got that backyard, why not put something out there for the kids to play in like a swingset, basketball hoop, or monkey bars. That way they can build up their fitness--as well as a swimming pool. Oh, how about using those pads in the water park??? You can make a play place for the kids so they can have a knock oust slumber party in the Summer--or Winter where you are from. And how about a small bbq place where they can cook outdoors,--but you can add this on later as your sims get more money. Once again you did a beautiful job on this build and I am getting inspired, but one thing is for sure, I won't be tackling a roof like that any time soon. I will leave that to you.
The seasons holiday decor box could be fun to put on the landing platform!
I love watching James' builds, it is so therapeutic and he does a phenomenal job.
I hope once Willow and Ash age up and we have to kick them out for space in the household that they stay over for loads of time
I'd love to see how many sims can be staying in a home without cheats! If you befriend someone with a large family and nobody else, they'll invite themselves over with everyone else in their home. Then your own full household could work on more friends quickly and start planning stayovers. I suppose I'll need to do it myself to see.
The space behind the stairs is a great place for basement access!
You could hide the decor box in that little space next to the stairs. I honestly hate that box now. It only has 3 swatches and it's the only one we have. I always hide mine away somewhere so I don't have to look at it. 😅
I've missed these speed builds 😢
James adding two sets of microphones and guitars and no outdoor trashcan is so on brand with this channel lol
Lovely home James!!!
I'm not a fan of the craftsman style, but it is still a very nice house and I loved the decoration in the guest room. Lots of love for you, Deli and Bowser from Argentina 🇦🇷❤️
The spot on the stairs is the perfect place for the decorations box so you know where it is and never lose it!
I love the treehouse idea with the connecting walkway
The Murphy bed in the guest room feels very realistic
the seasons decoration boxes would go great in that little platform by the stairs
You could put a cushion stack and a wall mounted bookcase on the little landing and make a private reading nook.
That little 1x3 spot next to the stairs could be the stairwell to the basement. Love the build! The alcove is my favorite!
Can totally relate to having ideal laundry! We just moved our laundry from our basement to the second floor next to the bedrooms... it's right off the hallway and is not a room by any means but oh my goodness having laundry so easily accessible and not having to go up and down so many flights of stairs... it's fun being an adult.
Really love the look of the house 🏡 I definitely prefer a single level home definitely much easier for game play 👍
This is absolutely a dream home!! Can’t wait to see the family move in 😊
Single story is such a good idea, especially with infants and toddlers. Wish I had growing together so I could put this house in my game ❤
Thank you!! I totally agree it’s an oversight not having larger lots in this world ! Your the first simmer I’ve seen say this. Also looove how gameplay friendly this house is. ❤
This is literally a DREAM home for me. 😭 that back deck is GORG!
Also, please use the stair landing as plant central! It would be so nice to have so many plants there!!
The little staircase nook would be a great place to put the holiday decor boxes. Put a few different ones and then it's like a "hiding clutter" kind of nook!
I love seeing a large one-story house. I grew up in Florida and most houses, even large ones, didn't have a second floor because it gets too hot. I imagine you'd have a lot of similar style houses in much of Australia for the same reason.
So excited for this house! It looks both so spacious yet homey, and so thought through
In the alcove you could put either the decorations box from seasons, or the keepsake box on a nice shelf. You could also put the thermostat from seasons and umbrellas there!
Love the alcove! For the stair landing you could put either a study nook or a kids play area, maybe the puppet theatre? Also there should be a sports car in the garage which belongs to Rye since he doesn’t have any kids.
This is great I love playing in one story homes it makes gameplay so much easier. There are very few of them on the gallery, Could you and Deli please fill a gap in the gallery by building us some one story starters for newly weds or singles and a next size up for their next family home to move to. Thanks to you both in advance :)
Rye can have his kitchen and bathroom as it makes sense in terms of piping and all. Also you should increase the household size with MCCC and once willow and as are teens they can have access to ryes space through attic, coz older children have a different bond with the fun uncle or aunt
When I have little 1x3 spaces in houses I always put a door on it, and put the seasons decorations box in there as if its like some storage closet for old decorations and wrapping paper!
Great build James, I’ve got an idea for the LP. Have the kids meet Column and Plahn Tayne, it would be cool for them to make a return.
looks great! i think the only thing you may need is a small office area. you could go back to the weird 1x3 space and turn it into a tiny computer area like Ryan’s desk in The Office 😂
This is definately a dream home!! ♥ I'm sold!
The alcove is a lot of fun! Perhaps it can connect to the area behind the stairs, with a ladder or something quirky like that. The one thing I'd try is changing the direction of your dinner table. Because I think it might work even better in this space.
Love the house and the alcove for Rye. One building tip: You should flip the bathroom attached to the kitchen so that the entrance is from the hallway instead. It would make more sense and be like a guest toilet.
This is an incredible build! The only thing I'd change for real life would be for the washer and dryer to be next to each other cos I wouldn't want to lug wet clothes across the room haha
Looks so good, can't wait to see this in the lets play!
I’ve been looking forward to the uncle Joey alcove since you first mentioned it! Please have Rye live there, at least for a while. Uncle Joey was a comedian too! “Cut it out!✂️”
On the little platform space by the stairs I would put in a tiny reading nook. My introverted book loving inner child would love that space to curl up and read.
This house, just one word.. wow !! Really like the wood and stone on the interior, and the space so much space, great work !! Just one idea maybe move the piano and put a fireplace instead? And I can't wait to see the "tree house project" love the idea
I love this! It's exactly what I was trying to do yesterday, I had the same reason and idea but couldn't make it work. So, this makes me really happy, thank you very much!! :)
This is SUCH a good build, I'm so impressed!!
That roofing was giving me anxiety... and I wasn't even the one building it! Fantastic work Mr. Turner!
this is the kinda house i've been tryna find and/or make for my sims ! i want a large family, so this is absolutely perfect !!!
I love the single story homes... I'm not as good as you with the camera and going up and down to see my sims. thank you James!
This is Marvelous!!!! I'm definitely downloading this and furnish it fully😍
Looks great. The nook on the staircase could be used to store you holiday box stuff. Maybe put some other decorative boxes and/or the painting décor stuff too. Too look like a catch all area by the stairs.
This is a beautiful home!! Going to download for sure!
Our two story house also had the bathroom connected to the kitchen area. Right by the backdoor, and the laundry hookups, all in the kitchen space.
You could move the stairs back one, onto what is currently the platform, so the platform area is in front of the stairs when looking from the living room and we can see what is there. That could be a good space for a toy box or a blarfy, or a drawing table.
yes! this is something i've been looking for! super excited to use it
You could put the keepsake box in that little nook created by the stairs. That would be a great place store and display it.
Oh, I love this build! This is awesome. Cannot wait for the family to move into this home 🎉🎉
wife and I just bought our first (new) laundry machine and we're super excited 🤣adulting at it's best!
If only I was that good at roofing! Always so impressed with your builds James but this one amazing!! ❤
OOO this looks like such a great place to start. I'm definitely keen on completing it! Nice build!
I cannot wait to move in! Fantastic build!
You can put a single desk next to stairs in that gap
I think it’s very cute that you two, when building family homes, landed on very similar style of house🤔🥰
I used to live in a townhouse that had a half bath off of the kitchen, it was weird but it was the best place for it.
I really like the house and especially the roofing. It looks like a Lego roof with all the small pieces of roof into one. Chef's 💋!
A suggestion for the platform behind the staircase: close off the little bedroom nook under the stairs and raise it to match the platform, reshuffle it a bit and you have a "out of sight out of mind" sleep nook!
The nuck beside the stairs would be perfect to store the decoration box.
I wish james did more build videos, I really enjoy them.
Gorgeous build!! Looking forward to the evolution 🎉
I finally feel validated lol My laundry is in the hall and this summer we are renovating the garage and I am getting an ACTUAL laundry room. So freaking pumped
