I remember playing the Wanted game for literally HOURS and getting my high score into the several 1000s. It was exhausting. I planned to go until I hit a limit (if there was any, I did look it up, but I don't remember if there was one on the New Super Mario Bros. version), but exhaustion made me lose my concentration and I couldn't for the life of me find Luigi anymore until it was too late and time had counted all the way down from 50. It was both sad and relieving that my game ended.
I’ve been there. It was strange how it got easier and easier until (despite nothing changing) it got harder and harder. Made me feel really stupid when I spent a while 50 seconds looking for something that took 1-5 seconds usually.
@@MalloryKnox. Yeah, it’s probably because you get sick of looking, so your motivation starts to slip because it starts to feel like a chore. Not to mention the music and sound effects starts to grate on your ears after hours of hearing it.
People say that Nintendo should bring back Picture Poker, but Nintendo shouldn’t, because then another large group of children will get addicted to gambling like all the kids who played Picture Poker when SM64DS and NSMBDS were new.
I love these little minigames! Though, I believe New Super Mario Bros. had the definitive selection with multiplayer as an awesome bonus, too. I think that by trimming down the selection, adding new minigames, and graphically overhauling some of the older ones, it really boosted the minigames’ replayability as a whole. I still try to get people to play a round of Speed! every once and a while. It's always tricky for everyone to find the motivation to commit to the DS when we have so many alternative consoles to play, but when the minigames get going, we usually play them for hours.
I have come to the mortifying realization that I’ve been playing this game since I was, like, 6 years old and I somehow missed a few mini games and have never unlocked them on my COUNTLESS playthroughs! I’ve never seen that pachinko game with the slots in my LIFE
You could probably do a follow-up with the New Super Mario Bros. DS minigames. Most of the minigames are identical to SM64DS, but some of them have multi-player modes. Some NSMB DS minigames are also Multi-player exclusive too. Just throwing it out there if you want another video idea.
My family used to travel across the country a lot, and I remember playing Wanted! so much. My Mum and I remember how I almost had a panic attack because my DS almost went dead flat and I reached over stage 1000.
Those mini-games were always the best part of the DS Mario duology. I didn't have 64 DS growing up, but I did have New Super Mario Bros, and I loved them. It was only later that I found out about 64 DS and how many more mini-games there were. Unlocking those games were my main motivation for finishing the game and I even spent hours trying (and succeeding!) to get characters on top of the castle early to catch the bunnies. The mini-games were amazing in both games and I'm eagerly waiting for the list of New Super Mario Bros. mini-games. I know there's only 2 new regular ones, but I spent a lot of time playing the multiplayer ones so I'm sure there's enough of those to make a list about. Seriously, Loves Me turns into a much better game in multiplayer.

I was always so surprised that Loves Me was on the multiplayer mini game selection, because I couldn’t think of how they would turn the single player version into something that’s not just complete random chance. Surprised they even changed it for multiplayer at all.
In the conversation for emulating the DS/3DS stylus, I'd like to submit my personal solution for my setup: A drawing tablet. Granted, it's not the same feeling or accuracy you would have with a lot of games where you would *physically* touch the pen on the object, button, or character with a real DS or 3DS. BUT! It's still pretty f#@king accurate. It all comes down to the game, really. Some games a mouse actually makes sense, some don't even need the stylus for much of anything, and some just require a special control set in order to play a game comfortably. (which can even be better than the original controls if you find a control scheme you like)
I love the ranks you made, just kinda wish you included the mario bros minigames in, just not duplicate minigames to count the unique minigames from both games just so you wouldn't have to make a potential video out of what's only half the minigames on that one. Otherwise, loved the video
