The Apple Crisp looks delightful. The topping mixture is familiar to me from the early 60’s, when I was s young bride.A friend showed me how to make “French “ and/or “Dutch” apple pie., using the mixture instead of a pastry crust on top It has slways been my family’s favorite way to have spple pie. . My Mother was fond of “Dutch Crunch” bread that was popular in the stores at the time. It was white bread that had a crunchy , not sweet, but buttery & savory. topping I have never seen it at the store that I can recall. I wonder if Kevin has or can create the recipe?

I discovered Chicken Marbella about 10 years ago. I am half Italian, but I'm the only one in my family that has ever made it that I know of. It is so amazing! It is hugely popular winter comfort food and is often varied with the addition of berries or a rhubarb crumble always hits the right note too. I grew up learning to cook out of that classic Betty Crocker, and that's exactly how my mom makes her 'crisp' topping, I always find oatmeal to be very rustic style and not as 'refined', lol! Another fantastic meal, hitting it out of the park as always!

I made it back in the day and I packed it up straight from the oven for a little picnic at a nearby vineyard's outdoor concert one August afternoon. It worked out great, with just some cheese and a baguette, and grapes for dessert. People thought I was daft when they saw prunes in their chicken Ha Ha.

I do love different and you always amaze. my recipe, mom's cookbook, has written too much salt in her hand in the margin and I've added a touch of lemon juice for a little tartness.. I've made this a dozen times and it's so good without oatmeal. Tnx for sharing.

I made the Marbella again on Friday for guests. Stupidly I tried chicken breast, but it didn’t work as well although the flavour was still excellent. Made the soup too, only couldn’t get leeks or sweet potatoes, I live in Belize and some things are unavailable if not in season, so I used white yams (I think) and large spring onions and added a can of coconut milk to make it creamy. Our guests loved it! 🎉 thank you Kevin and Victoria!
