My mom learned a corn shucking tip from a corn farmer. Cut off the end of an ear, the bigger end, not the tip. Pull the leaves and silk off toward the direction of the tip. It leaves much less silk.
ATTENTION FANS! You just have to watch Kevin’s Japanese a milk bread rolls recipe. I bake them weekly and they cost about $.25 or so a dozen if you buy all your ingredients in bulk. THEY ARE MARVELOUS! I have the recipe memorized I have made them for the past 3 years.
I envy your guests Kevin...eating all those delightful delicacies- - such pleasure to watch you do the preparations of all the confections .... it inspires me so much . Thank you!
Oh it is such a good idea about putting all the recipes together. That way, you can save them together as a Menu for a meal.!!! I do not get tired of seen the landscape every time you go out. That relax me. I have a couple friends that their birthdays are coming. I think is a good idea of doing this menu. Have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday. Bye Kevin take care!!!
One of our family members is terminally ill and we have been caring for her at home. I am the one who cooks. Your videos inspire me to try to make every day as special as I can for us all. Even if, after a demanding day, we do nothing more than gather and take time to enjoy a glass of wine and take our dinner on the porch, setting a beautiful table and serving a lovely meal restores us. Thank you so much for sharing your life. It is beautiful.
Sunday mornings with you, Kevin, are so pleasant and relaxing. This morning I was making wild blueberry scones as my weekly tradition for quiet Sundays with my husband and are pups. I said it last week, I’m saying it again , you are a treasure. I really would like to think you and I are sitting down to tea and talking away the time with all sorts of ideas for graceful and beautiful living. Thank you for your time, creativity, and being a lovely human.
P.S. Symbolism is important. You have a way of giving us all a sense of calm and tranquility along with wonderful recipes and beautiful setting. SO, I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE A KINE OF APRONS AND MUGS with a photo of your home in the middle, Kevin Leen Jacobs on there somewhere and the phrase that you use all the time which is so meaningful, "Surround yourselves with beauty" or "Take good care of yourselves." I'd buy both. How many of you out there would be interested in this. The apron would wrap us all in those wonderful feelings of calm you give us as we do our own cooking. The mug would start our days with good coffee and that feeling of calm and beauty you have a way of sharing with us. If anybody out there agrees with me, let Mr. Jacobs know!!!!! We love being part of your life with good recipes and that feeling of calm and beauty. Believe me, I've made changes in our lives at home.
We grow and eat a lot of sweet corn here in the deep South. Most of us have a special corn brush that removes the silks without breaking the kernels. We also have special tools for cutting off the kernels. These are much needed during canning season. Carefully using a sharp knife, like you do, is great for just a few ears, and you can make that task even easier by setting a tube pan into a larger container and inserting the short end of the ear into the top. Holds it really well and keeps you hand out of the way of the knife. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful recipes with us! You are inspiring me to host a dinner party soon!
Oh Kevin you make everything seem so easy peasy, yet when presented it looks professionally catered 😲. Thank you for your wonderful channel. I look forward to every single one!!!!
Hi Kevin Microwave the corn while still in the shucks for 1-2 minutes.let cool so as to not burn your hands. Then shuck as usual and the silks literally slide freely off leaving clean ears of corn. I do this all the time. You can microwave it longer for cooked corn on the cob
My favourite RUclips friend, thank you and the furries for another therapeutic video. In the kitchen when prepping corn we use our cloths. If you place a dishcloth down on your cutting board and cut off the kernels, there are two advantages. It stabilizes the cob so you don’t risk it slipping and you cutting yourself and, it dampens and catches the kernels bounce 😅 love every second of my cooking time with you ❤
Love watching your videos… I am presently recovering from a year and a half of battling breast cancer… I am now CANCER FREE ! Your videos were what I watched during my time in the hospital and now will be using your recipes to entertain my family and friends ❤
What a wonderful early fall menu! I like that you served in the garden/terrace area outside. Beautiful table setting as usual. I like the floating flowers in a dish. I sometimes will make small bouquets and put in jelly jars to decorate the table when a large bouquet is too much. Everything looks delicious. I always like a rustic tart or galette. Simple elegance. I might have to make the corn timbales. They remind me of something my late sister would have made. Something a little different and new. Like a food adventure surprise. Might be fun to bring to Thanksgiving I think. Great to see/hear Avery crunching her chow in the background. A great dog. Thank you for the video. Take care and have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead. See you next time.♥️🐕🌸🍋🥦🌽🫐🍷🍽️
What a great menu! As a vegetarian I will use frozen tofu to marinate. The rest of the menu I will follow just as you presented it. My mouth is watering at the very thought of it. Thanks, Kevin. Loved seeing Miss Avery's head popping up to say hello. 🐕 Judie
Watching you working in your kitchen makes me think I'd ENJOY cooking for company. It seems so easy and deliciously simple. Everything you do is intentionally enjoyable..I LOVE this philosophy and so appreciate your vlogs...
Kevin, you set such a beautiful table. I'm sure everyone is happy to be invited to your house for dinner. Your food always looks so delicious. Thank you for sharing.
Kevin, that gallet is glorious! Also, ai did floral design for a living for a while, and your arrangements are so wonderful. I, too, do simple things like floating roses, so I was delighted to see your centerpiece!! Flowers don't have to be a wedding every day. A beautiful bloom can shine alone...
Kevin, more culinary delights thank you. I laugh when you say the word pepper and peppa because l am from Boston and l pronounce pepper the exact same way. Lol
All the components of the dinner look delicious and easy to prepare. 😊I think I’d throw some mini carrots on the sheet pan to bake also, to add a bit more color to the plate.
The best part of my Sunday is spending it watching you make a beautiful, delicious meal. I love the menu and can’t wait to try it. Your roses looked so sweet floating in the bowl that matched your china. Such a lovely dinner party you had!
Another wonderful episode! You make everything look so simple and easy! What a delightful meal to enjoy outside now that the weather has gotten reasonable. Thanks Kevin!
Everything looked delicious Kevin, especially the galette! I wish I was as calm, cool and collected as you are when I entertain. Enjoy this beautiful day! 🇨🇦❤️
Nothing better than a dinner party prepared in advance. And that table is beautiful. I find working with what I can find in the garden sort of forces my creativity and your flower arrangement is perfect. Hope you had a thoroughly enjoyable time. I'm sure your guests did.
Perfect menu! I look forward to making all these soon but simply must try the corn timbales first - before it's too late for corn this year. Thank you for the inspiration and enjoyment each week.
You have my plates, Mr Jacobs! Give them back. Haha. So nice to see these videos and note them to use at home later on. Thank you. A lovely menu and "make ahead" is a great thing. I am sure it was delicious and enjoyed by all your guests.
I was inspired by your lovely video! The corn timbal is the first thing I want to try since we still have fresh corn growing in the fields where I live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania!
Just love your programs. Even at my elder years, I've learned a trick or two from your cooking and baking. By the way, your home is just a couple of hours 'down the road' from mine in Vermont. Your property is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you.
Every step of your prep through your presentation is lovely. I usually go to a white, light blue or a navy outdoor tablecloth but seeing your combination of the blues in your cloth and patterned place settings has set me on to a new path where I will use some of my print patterned cloths outside now. The floating roses were so appropriate as well. In conclusion though the galette wins the award hands down on your beautiful wedgewood. Well done, well done. I wish we could be a fly on the wall to see how you get everything to/from the kitchen to the outdoor table and not become exhausted tending the party. As I get older I simply cannot do the running back and forth that used to come easier. I’m not ready to give up entertaining yet though as I always feel that an elegant homemade meal is like a gift to my family and friends. Anyone can make a dinner reservation. Not everyone gets the privilege to enjoy knowing someone who puts so much love into a dinner invitation in our wayward society these days.
Kevin I have an easy suggestion for cutting corn from the cob. Use an angel food cake pan and put the pointed end in the raised part with the hole in the center of the pan. You can easily cut down the ear safely and the corn will drop in the pan.
I saw a youtuber take the whole ears of corn and sear them in an iron skillet before cutting off the cob, not only more flavorful but beautiful color as well! Just a little chef tip!
Like the timbale. Haven't thought of them in years and they are so wonderful. Such a nice starter. Everything looked delicious. Glad your guests had a lovely time. Your roses floating reminded me of floating candles. Not even sure you can get them anymore, they were fun. Hello from Corvallis, OR.
KEVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (in Catherine O’Hara’s voice) My favorite video of mine is your Japanese Milk bread rolls, I discovered a few delicious tweaks. So thanks for all you share. Use 5 tablespoons of sugar instead Use half all purpose flour, half 00 flour (I use Caputo 00 flour brand) Add to the initial milk & water paste before it cooks, scant 1/8th tsp of mace and nutmeg each After the first rise and after I form the buns I refrigerate for 3 hours Then I let rise in a proofing environment until the a little more than double in size Then I bake until golden Drench with stick of melted butter right when it comes out of the oven Serve immediately Some how they seemed much better than the original recipe I made these for a business visitor last night (9/11/24) and he ate 4 of them out of 12. I sent him home with the rest. I told him about your channel and your original recipe with the above tweaks. Could be a new video for you to Grace everyone with! YOU’RE WELCOME!
This is a wonderful way to entertain Kevin. I think stress-free is always good. The timbale must be delicious. I always clean the silks from corn using a small potato brush, but your gloves worked well. Have a lovely afternoon!
I love this fellows voice. He sounds like the Mr Rogers of cooking. I enjoy his recipes and lifestyle . We have a similar lifestyle in Canada. We also have a dog, Freddie.
Beautiful meal!! I really enjoyed the lively, jazzy music playing softly in the background during the gallette prep. I was thinking just the other day that I missed that type of music, which you'd used in older videos!
The onion you and I grew together, you have such a sweet way of letting us feel like a part of your live. ❤
Typical to our dear friend Kevin! Mr Fox is so lucky!!!we are ,too!
I love going on shopping trips with Kevin in between cooking 😅
I agree. I live in the same area that Kevin lives in. It is nice to see the familiar places on his videos.
@@angelinaduganNylet us know when you will have the chance to cross his path.😊
Kevin - Everyone's favorite host! What a class act, and so gracious.
My mom learned a corn shucking tip from a corn farmer. Cut off the end of an ear, the bigger end, not the tip. Pull the leaves and silk off toward the direction of the tip. It leaves much less silk.
Thats exactly how us country folks do it! Then, you can use a vegetable brush to get the rest of the silk off.
There’s an easier way put it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it completely falls off
Thank you so much1❤🎉
You are amazing. I feel so part of everything you do. You are so mindful of your audience. Thank you!
Fantastic presentation!!!!! Always enjoy our Sundays at your home!

Yes! Make ahead items on the menu is the only way to go! It looks lively and delicious! The floating flowers are wonderful!

Always lovely coming home to Kevin Lee Jacobs to sooth the soul and envy those who can actually be with him in person.

Kevin, sehr elegant. Die passende Servietten, Klasse.❤
All the components of the dinner look delicious and easy to prepare. 😊I think I’d throw some mini carrots on the sheet pan to bake also, to add a bit more color to the plate.
Thank you for spending another afternoon with us Kevin… Give the fur babies a big hug..🇨🇦💕
Ich sehe aus Deutschland zu und bin begeistert, ich liebe ihre feine englische Art und die tollen Rezepte 🤗

Good looking corn dish. I always enjoy the ride to town. Thank you.
Hello from Hungary ! 🥰Thank you Kevin !
How about crockpot recipes for the fall season? ❤
I put the tip of corn in the center of a bundt pan. and let the pan catch the corn kernals.
So much fun to be part of this lovely dinner party.
Thank you for another great menu! I have to get those tweezers! I agree a tour of your freezer would be very interesting to us.❤
That marinade is Greek! I would add some flat leaf parsley and a few dandy lions to the roses for 3 contrasting colors.
I’m happy & first! Coppola is very pleasant.
Just love your programs. Even at my elder years, I've learned a trick or two from your cooking and baking. By the way, your home is just a couple of hours 'down the road' from mine in Vermont. Your property is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you.

As always, everything looks yummy. Yourcar trip through te Hudson Valley is a thing of beauty. I love that area especially in the fall.
I saw a youtuber take the whole ears of corn and sear them in an iron skillet before cutting off the cob, not only more flavorful but beautiful color as well! Just a little chef tip!
So relaxing and happy vibes in this videos . Thank you ✌️
Merci pour ces moments calmes et délicieux 🍷tchin-tchin👋

happy sunday, kevin! thanks for the yummy recipes :)
This meal looks so delicious (and something I might be able to make!). You are a wonderful teacher. Thanks for sharing.
I was feeling frazzled about world politics. I knew that when I came back to your channel, I'd breathe more calmly.
Sheet pans are a hosts best friend.
What a wonderful menu. Everything looks delicious and your gracious elegance makes for another relaxing Sunday. Thank you!

Always appreciate your creations and positive energy ! 🎉
Love everything about your channel Kevin. I also learn so much about different recipes. ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
This is a wonderful way to entertain Kevin. I think stress-free is always good. The timbale must be delicious. I always clean the silks from corn using a small potato brush, but your gloves worked well. Have a lovely afternoon!
Such a lovely dinner and once again I’m inspired to make this meal also, thank you Kevin for sharing your recipes, 🙏🌹👍🏼

Looking forward to trying this dinner menu. It looks easy and delicious! Thank you.
Kevin. That was a beautiful looking dinner. Also a lovely color on the plate.😊pat
I do prep everything I serve for my family/friends Thanksgiving dinner, and the only last-minute item is the gravy. So easy!
I love this fellows voice. He sounds like the Mr Rogers of cooking. I enjoy his recipes and lifestyle . We have a similar lifestyle in Canada. We also have a dog, Freddie.
I enjoy your videos cause I always learn something and your voice is so soothing.
Hi Kevin...love your show. I watch everyday. Your videos are very relaxing, & informative. See you Sunday, 👋🏽 😢
Beautiful meal!! I really enjoyed the lively, jazzy music playing softly in the background during the gallette prep. I was thinking just the other day that I missed that type of music, which you'd used in older videos!
What a lovely dinner party!!!!! I plan to duplicate your menu for my own dinner party very soon!!!!!
That looks amazing . I bet your guests enjoyed every bite. See you next time
Love the floating roses! My Nanny used to float flowers in special glass vases.
Everything looks wonderful. I especially like the vegetables and chicken can go in the oven at the same time.
Kevin, I loved your recipes - great choice in jacket
The pop of pink of the floating flowers looks terrific on your table.
Well done as always with such good flair, delicious recipes, style and good cheer 🥂
Thank you for great recipes and entertaining tips! I love your house and garden!
Oh ,! Go on , you had that floating rose idea all along. Just jesting, it all looked beautiful, and the food looked yumm
