Back then the Non-Turbo Supra were the ones that everyone in the car scene makes fun of, but nowadays I don't mind having a Non-Turbo Supra with an Automatic Transmission because it is a SUPRA!!!
as a high hp supra owner, there is something special about an na auto. Its a different experience. Its a fantastic GT cruiser that can easily chew up highway miles comfortably if you respect it for what it is.
I had a 95 NA 5 speed black/black leather I purchased used in 98. I loved that vehicle and still wish I had it. TSupras were rare in my area and people would often stare and take pictures.
Just going to correct one of your facts there - you say the autos were more common, which is not the case. The supra registry shows that out of 45230 cars built, 18198 were automatic, compared to 27032 manuals. The exact breakdown looks like this: 15763 6spd turbo 8852 auto turbo 1461 6spd na 11216 5spd na 9346 auto na Overall good video and really like the production quality. If you want to review a proper Twin Turbo Supra sometime give me a shout
Thank you for the clarification, I was under the impression that there were more autos as I see only autos for sale mainly, but I guess not! That would be awesome to review a twin turbo one. Where are you based?
fun fact the 2JZ GE is in main the GTE just with no turbo, you can buy a GE for cheaper and turbo it (ofc some more parts are needed) but it will be at better costpoint than buying GTE. They really same build engine internals that not turbo related are similar asf. Also pistons or block doesn’t need to be forged because the same components are in GTE, thats why it also a really popular tuning engine besides the cringy fanboy zone. I do own a A80 and love it for the easy and simple maintenance the engine is, also with great tuning ability. But never the less the supra is far beyond of a stiff performance race car and was produced more comfortably. So consider when you add the power that you tune breaks, stability and everything what depens on agility because 770hp with no change on these and you feel like driving an AIDA Cruiseshio with big moma steroids and uncontrollable Traction and Feeling to the car. The A80 is a great to tune car, but thats it, a standard supra was for its time indeed a respectable car but nowadays and considering the reputation of the car in stock point every gti fucks this car on nurburgring
@@CaptainFroze- Oil squirters in the block, front facing intake manifold, cam sensors for running better timing. It used to be far cheaper to buy a 2JZGTE back in the day instead of putting in the effort to turbo the naturally aspirated 2JZGE. However times have changed and there are a lot of people doing it now due to the price hikes on the GTE engines. To buy a GTE engine and go single turbo these days is pretty expensive. Not to mention the wiring etc. It all adds up very quickly. This is why I'm turbo'ing my non VVTi 2JZGE. The crank, rods and pistons in these overlooked engines are the same as the GTE minus what I mentioned earlier at a higher compression 🙂. Unfortunately the 2JZGE VVTi variant has the weaker rods and bottom end. You want to steer clear of those unless you plan on building the bottom end.
to be honest I do prefer a GE.. because let's face it.. when people buys the gte they get rid of the twin turbos and goes to single turbo... GE and GTE engine are the same.. (gte have oil squirters but to be honest they're useless ) Plus a GE head have better airflow ;)
i would sell it to buy a gte not hate for n/a engine for some cars like ferraris i would never forgive them to make turbo cars at least that the power is depending of constant high rpms. But in a supra perspective the n/a drives, besides the stock rather bad agility and sportiness of agility, like there is something missing. Not like i need 500hp kicking in face but even at under 400hp constellation, the turbo and air intake noice when you get the rpm is kinda natural and everytime you expect that the car will now leave turbo lag. I did unfortunately one week a N/A supra because my turbo did break and i need to change it to run on n/a, which was unexpected easy to do tbh,but even that i considered that the fun and party part is missing it does not feel „Supriness“ at any time. Besides the slowness because HP is not the problem but Torque, Responsiveness and Poweroutput are horendously (in this hp segment) practically not existent, without the turbo the supra seems to be not comfortable and stressed when you try to be fast

A NA supra with a few tasty mods including ITBs and a good time, with a nice manual gearbox would make a Wonderful car.
Non turbo supra 2002 right?

why do people prefer the 2jz gte engine instead of modifying the 2jz ge?

I havent been this entertained watching a car review since watching Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. Love from the USA. Cheers
Thanks very much! Means a lot
Think I really need to get my supra back on the road, she's a non turbo manual too. Nice review btw 👍
Thank you! They’re fantastic cars 😁

Nice video, I wish I have one and a GTE too
I had a smaller liscence plate on my R32 GTR... the bobbys dont like it much lol. My MKIV supra is still legit
Wow, I never knew there's another but younger counterpart of Jeremy Clarkson

@@SAIO_THE_ORIGINAL for the price difference of an NA and a turbo you might as well buy a gte engine and swap it
Best sounding exhaust period. Is that stock,if not what is the complete setup
It sounds better than the turbo version imo.
I mean yeah it’s not a rocket when you put your foot down but for a na car from the 90s I personally think it’s plenty
Does this one sound better than Supra turbo?
Bcz turbo muffled engine sound

Why is it showing its handbrake on warning light while driving?
We’re not too sure, must be something wrong with the sensor perhaps 🤔 or maybe we just left the handbrake up a little 🤣
because the front active aero is disabled to stay down at all times :)
the project cars 2 music !!!
How don’t you have more subs 😮😅
Good question 😅
So few ppl actually like Supra rather they like built cars with a big turbo…. 😂 The jdm community fraud check is great lmao.
