You're correct that sometimes horsepower numbers can take away the focus of the true art in building a car. People get lost in their lust for horsepower and lose the opportunity to truly see a well crafted and thoughtful build, 280whp with a NA inline 6 is a very solid power plant. I always said to myself, if I ever won the lottery, I would build up an N/A Supra into a track car, and see how far I can take it. This basically does just that, congratulations. You've literally built one of my dream builds.

This thing is sweet. It probably offers somewhat of an M3 sensation in a way. -- I like NA builds more than turbo ones. Less heat under the hood. Better BSFC values. Lightweight button clutches, fast throttle response, simple setup. -- People are too quick to go for the power, that they deny themselves a great driving experience. Every time I see a drag ZL1 or drag C6, it just doesn't make sense. -- The nicest supra I ever stumbled across was a simple build. Header, cams, single G30-660 turbo, 18" Advan 6-spokes. Pearl white with a carbon hood. It was beautiful. That car made me feel like when I heard DJ Tiesto for the first time back in 2005. It whistled like it had a T51R cut. Keep it simple and under the radar.
it's not JDM, but in the "hillclimb monsters" channel there's a video of a ford escort with a n/a version of the ford YB engine (the engine of the sierras and escorts cosworth). that thing is just lovely
@@CarlosGarcia-ze6rt that channel is sound porn pure and simple. One thing I dislike about turbo is that it kills the exhaust note. For instance a 4AGE or a B16A are very distinct sounding engines. If you Turbo them you loose the sound. Which is why I enjoy them naturally aspiratrd for the sound

I LOVE naturally aspirated engines, both for their sound and immediate, predictable power curves, and simplicity and longevity (on reasonable builds, anyway) are just added bonuses. I would WAY rather have this thing than a crazy 1000-hp turbo machine.
I never forgot they existed. There are three major options for the car Turbo/Non-turbo, Hard top/Aerotop and Auto/Manual trans. Pick two. For me, manual all the way and that Aerotop is awesome. So NA is the only engine for me.
Finally the Supra of my dreams. I want a stitch welded, light as possible, redone steam punk interior track build, N/A ITB port and polished head, that revs to the moon
This instantly reminds me of most every 4AGE 86 build, the high rpm climbs let this 2j sing I’m sure. People should realize N/A isn’t always the worst way to stay or go.

It's not about the horses...... It's about cutting every corner at perfection and completing the lap faster than ever. A 250 hp car can easily beat a 1000hp car in corners. It's all about the set up, aerodynamics, tires, weight and grip.

Hey now that what I'm talking about. Now go find an CA18 powered S13 chassis. Low Torque = high grip. Which means go fast around corners. Okay I'll admit I'm always looking for that rollercoaster feeling out of a car. It will scare you just a little more than going fast in a straight line. "What is he doing? He's going to fast! There's no way he's going to make that corner...AHHH! vs "OH SHIT! this is fast!"
I want to see a built n/a 2JZ GTE vvti. And compare to a 2JZ GE using the same parts. High compression, high RPM. On 93 and E85. And also swap out the pistons and throw a turbo on them to compare. I would love to be able to see the numbers on all of them.

my car is putting out 230 to the wheels, it is a 2.3 liter inline 4 turbo which started out it's life with 135 horsepower. more power is on its way but i don't have the money right now unfortunately...

in all honesty on the supra platform it isnt "NA Ftw" the supra platform obviously is fastest when boosted

Then a neither a supra or 2jz is the right chassi or engine. Do that to a e46 with the s54 instead. You start with 350hp and ITB.
