I love the simplicity of that Panerai, not boring, but well executed design that works. Elegant, proves that less is more, like a well-tailored suit.

    • @bertholdbach4959

Really? I think the Panerai looks crude and clumsy. There is nothing elegant on a Panerai.

@@bertholdbach4959 that’s the beauty of watches and collecting. Plenty of variety out there, and we can all express our different tastes with a brand and watch of our choice.

@@gavinwhite9743 What kind of brainless copy-paste reply was that? Are you an AI? This exact response is what I get every time I dont like a design/watch. Blabla different tastes, blabla something for everyone. Its like people dont know themself why they like something and just write a general statement.
If you take the time to reply, at least tell me why you think differently than me and dont throw platitudes at me.

@@bertholdbach4959 I think Gavin's original comment told you what he likes about Panerai. Since you only insulted his choice, and didn't bother to offer some alternative watch choices to opine on, I don't there was much for him to build upon.
I happen to agree with Gavin. There is much to love in the simplicity. The case design, the choice of crystal, the handset, and many other elements. If you have an eye for design, and you've spent any time at all with Panerai watches, then you might agree. Or as was stated above, you might not, and to each their own.

Love panerai watches. I bought a limited edition panerai Luminor submersible 1950 3 day automatic 47mm Titanium. Must of been around 2015/16. At the time I only had this and an omega. Left the watch in the hotel room. Come back no watch. Stolen by some cleaner/ member of staff who knows. Could not afford to replace it at the time. Maybe I should get another one. Anyway I don’t leave my watches in hotel rooms any more. An expensive lesson to learn .

This Panerai summary and the watch journey resonates with me a lot. I too am a bigger, solid guy. I used to consider watches the community would put forward. Most of the time because it looked good on them and suited their smaller frames. Gradually realised you have to buy for yourself and what suits you. A 40mm Rolex is well and good but pointless if it doesn’t wear well on you. Bought the Panerai 210. Never looked back. Perfection for my wrist. And personality.

Agree with everything here. I like watches that are as big as I can where, ideally 43 mm. I have some smaller watches that are OK but I prefer bigger watches. Also agree that gold doesn't suite fair skin but looks great on slightly darker skin. In the jewellery world people talk about being either a silver or gold person and this comes down skin colour or complexion.

You originally inspired me to buy your old favourite omega 2255.80 which I love. I actually then bought the original rubber OEM rubber strap and and clasp which has the same adjust on the wrist mechanism as the Nove watch. Amazing I then saw a paneria 2231 that I just knew was me all over so had to have it. I love the stealth of it and wear at my work in the water industry during the day before donning the omega at night👍

Great advice to have someone come with you who knows you well and can offer another perspective. This happened to me recently when I picked up the PAM 716 Mare Nostrum a model from Panerai I never thought I would own or would look good on me; but it does. Fascinating. and all part of the journey. The Nove Marine is a cool piece!

The Nove divers extension was seen on Citizens from the 90s, and you can get aftermarket clasps also with this design. It's junk. The problem is that fully extended, it's an ugly looking bar that sticks out in a weird way. Also, it takes the place or does double-duty for micro-adjustments, which means using it for micro-adjustments reduces its utility for divers extension. The better solution from higher-end watches are the systems similar to Glidelock or T-Fit, where the part that extends out from the clasp are just another link, so it doesn't look like a bar sticking out; also Glidelock/T-fit are just for micro-adjustment and divers extensions are an additional separate piece (so reduction in utility due to double-duty).

I’d love to know Oisin’s actual wrist size. I’ve watched his videos for years and he will often talk about how large his wrists are but I have yet to ever see/hear him say the actual diameter in inches/cm what his wrist is. I always thought I had smaller wrists…but at 7.25” I have found that my wrists are on the larger end which surprised me. It would take some of the guessing out of it when seeing watches on Oisin’s wrist and wondering how they would look on our wrists?
