    Thanks for doing these, it really gives a perspective on what modern pitched naval warfare might potentially look like, which can be hard for many of us as most of it takes place beyond visual range anyway. Showing it in these simulations with this much detail and work put into it is really helpful and greatly fascinating and enjoyable to watch. So Kudos to you man!

    So, taking into account the whole series, it seems that the Western offence is strongest, with Britain impressing in particular. The Russians also seem to have improved (if only by a little), and the American Mako seems nigh on unstoppable, as does the UK Spear 3 and Spear 5 combo. The semi-ballistic hypersonics like the Zircon and YJ-21 do seem to struggle to get a consistent PK, and maybe that's fairly realistic, what with missile failure rates and jamming.
    I would love to see Indian, French, Thai and mixed Spanish/Japanese/Italian groups make appearances in battles. Loving the series, can't wait for the next series. I would love to see Type 31e, VLS launched LRASM in particular.
    Maybe it could be a one-off, but have you thought of trying a series of engagements between CSGs? Many of these carriers can fire their weaponry from much longer ranges - the YJ-21 is a great example. You could have a long range engagement, then use whichever vessels survive (assuming the carrier is still operational) face off in a closer range battle. I'd love to know if this is feasible, if not, don't worry!
    If I could ask for one thing, I'd love to see a Type 31e frigate for the UK, with CAMM-MR and CAMM-ER dual-packed and quad-packed in its Mk41 VLS respectively. I think that the medium range potential of these weapons could really bolster the British defence, without going as far as to bring in the Type 83s this early.
    Loving the videos Cap!

      Its fun, but this simulation don't showcase the 100% capability of US forces more likely due to limitations in DCS. In real life though there is still JASSM/LRASM and NSM/JSM, air-launched SM-6 or AIM-174B, AARGM-ER that can also be used for anti-ship role, maybe even SiAW. MALD decoys too and StormBreaker (SDB II) which is the US equivalent of Spear 3. Patriot PAC-3 MSE also are gong to be dual pack into Burke's Mk 41 VLS.

Or if that's too boring, perhaps some kind of specific mission simulation. In this last battle series the 5th gens are sort of programmed to run in to one another, but having AWACS, tankers, maybe some P8s looking for subs between the two carriers while stealth pops in and out would be something new and exciting. Arguably the two superpowers are the US and China , then you have Russia who used to be a superpower but since the quality of their forces have been shown to be extremely poor as of late they have dropped from that status and try to punch above their weight class.

One of the ships is a French cruiser armed with cruise missile ends up in the hands of the Japanese. In response to your query, I'd love to see more realistic long-range engagements. Just a thought, maybe they actually wouldn't be so long if you allowed yourself to speed up certain boring periods. I agree the close-up slug fests are cool, but I always find myself wondering how things would turn out with more realistic tactics, as much as you could simulate, anyway. For example (of many) it kills me to see Mako enter theater in small batches after watching China and Russia pretty much throw in everything at once. I think the longer format, if better applied tactics, would be a superior video. But with that said, would you need to ask NCIS for permission? Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope all is well on that front. Thanks for all you do. You are my main media content source. My fav streaming entertainment.

    I think you should do some videos with smaller battles like it would be interesting to see 1 arleigh Burke go against 1 052
    Another idea would be to do a war series where there are different battles and some either lean to the advantage of the US or China and they are tallied to show who would win in the different theaters of war. These could be ground and naval battles and they could be long range or close range. Ex a US submarine engaging with Chinese ballistic missiles that are land based

    I think realistic tactics carrier battle would make a great video and i would love to see. My first thought was the range advantage of the tomahawks, fired from far away long in advance they might not be arriving to the battle so long after the red missiles like in the short range battles. But if its as slow as cap made it out to be it might not be the most watchable series to do every combination of red v blue. Excited to see either way. And definitely looking forward to the 2030's updated carrier groups.

From memory, it was one of the first "GR" missiles you guys created so comparing it to stuff like the 120C it would appear massively OP (because it is), but then comparing to things like the 260 et al, shows it's now underpowered. Even including the modern missiles it's still apparently (according to Wiki, MBDA, and a few others) got the largest NEZ on the market. Appreciate the top speed is likely less than them and range probably a little bit less, but it's still a top tier missile.

  • @tomschomisch
    @tomschomisch 20 дней назад +7

    I favor the more realistic option. Yes, the battles would be slower, but in single player you can just hit the fast forward button.
    But let me propose a third option... appoint two of the GRs to be the admirals of the opposing fleets and then the two admirals select their battle plans without any knowledge of what the other is doing. Whichever battle plan would happen first gets run in a simulation, the two admirals must then create new battle plans based on the result of that simulation, the first of the new battle plans gets run in the simulation, the two admirals must make new battle plans based on the result of that simulation, etc etc.
    For example, if I was the admiral in charge of the US fleet going against a Chinese fleet then my first move is to launch a flight of F-35Cs when the fleets are 1,100 miles apart to take out the Chinese AWACS. At that point, I'm out of range of the most dangerous Chinese weapons and if the strike is successful then I have reduced the effectiveness of the entire Chinese fleet. If that battle plan would happen first, it gets run in the simulation. If the strike is successful then the admiral in charge of the Chinese fleet has to make new plans without the benefit of an AWACS.

    • @hughmungus2760
      @hughmungus2760 19 дней назад

      immagine having to operate on the very limits of the F35s combat range where if you got intercepted or the enemy was alerted and flew the other way you'd literally not have enough fuel to get home.

    • @tomschomisch
      @tomschomisch 19 дней назад +1

      @@hughmungus2760 Because it would be impossible to ever abort a mission that relies on stealth if you're detected. And aerial refueling isn't a thing either.
      Stealth should get a F35 within AMRAAM range of the AWACS without being detected. And the rest of the flight of F-35s is there to deal with the very angry Chinese response.
      If the AWACS can be taken down, then the effective range of Chinese hypersonic missiles is reduced. The Chinese would also be blind to any US strike for much longer, making it much more likely that a LRASM is able to get through and cripple the Chinese carrier. If you're doing a risk/reward calculation, I'd say the risk is worth it.
      Unless you prefer relying on just your SAMs to stop all the Chinese hypersonic missiles and save the lives of the 5,000+ sailors on the US carrier, of course.
      Oh, and I was just using that scenario as an example to illustrate my idea for a new series of videos. So thanks for completely missing the point.

    My prediction at the beginning was the blues would get hit hard in the beginning and would end up winning (which they did, still had Makos going in even as the video ended). Then, as others touched on, the US still has what 9 CSGs left? So yeah, they would win.
    To answer the question of what we want to see, perhaps you could do both at the same time, a more realistic scenario in 2030's. Rather than it being one big battle, it would be stitched together into smaller battles where the ending of one goes into the beginning of another. So rather than each video starting off at full strength, each would start off with whatever they still have. Sort of a naval campaign, maybe even give control of where different assets go to GR members and videoing where those fights take place. Would be a series I would watch for sure.

    • @hughmungus2760
      @hughmungus2760 19 дней назад

      I think the damage on the Makos are totally overrepresented, they're not armour piercing and carry a very small warhead, they're glorified anti-radiation missiles designed to damage ship components, not sink a supercarrier. They should do 1/5 the amount of damage they currently do.
