Watching this is ' Heartwrenching ' From a Welshman,s point of view! The Greatest Player New Zealand ever produced, and they certainly had quite a few. Such a remarkably likable guy off The Field though, not to be messed with on it. May i take this opportunity to offer My Condolences to All Colin,s Family. God bless you ' Colin Pinetree Meads ' From All Welshman . RIP.
1900 views, and counting. No wonder. What a special interview this is. Impressive how lucid this old warrior is, how thorough his recall is, such detail, wonderful stories, generous with his praise for other players, all less than 2 months before he died. Respect. Considering the hammering he had taken, the retribution he handed out, this All Black by now would have been exhausted. Lynn McConnell shows us an expert’s grip on his subject here. Well done. Career highlight. RIP.
Sad to see such a great rugby personality in the final weeks of his life. He looked so tired. I remember him vividly when he played in the South African 75th year rugby celebrations in 1964 at Newlands rugby ground. He was just amazing the way he got around the field and how many times he ran with the ball. It was a festival match and he looked like he thoroughly enjoyed himself. Couldn't believe how a lock could get around the paddock like he did. I was fortunate to be there to see this great New Zealander play. Also saw him in the 1960 test in Newlands where he scored the only NZ try in their 8-3 victory against the Boks, and again in the 1970 match against Western Province. Unfortunately he didn't play in the second test of that series due to his broken arm. I cursed that Toy Dannhauser for breaking his arm with a malicious kick thus denying South African fans (and mainly me) of seeing more of this great man playing on that tour. Belated condolences to his family and to New Zealand and the world rugby community
My dad played with his brother Stan not sure which team and he told me he had such respect for him and Colin.... he used to say don't mess around with the Meads brothers they were tough buggars he'd say

What a rugby player he was. Up there with the great Welsh lads of that same era! RIP to them all❤
I met him in Johannesburg in July 1970. He was a very kind man and he signed his autograph for me

Proper man.
IMO one of the best All Blacks. Colin or Buck.
A hard gentleman. The kind of player that made me love the game.
From England.
A Legend on the field and a Gentleman off it, from a Springbok Fan.
What a player!! RIP Sir❤
Had the honour of talking
Spent over 2 hours chatting with Colin Meads. Time flew by.
Greatness at it's finest right there. 55 tests, and 133 games for the All Blacks. Almost unbelievable back then.

Carl Boonzaier They don’t make rugby players like ‘Pinetree’ anymore.

A real man!!! New Zealand, where men are men and sheep are scared.

Pinetree! Great player and a great servant to the game and to New Zealand.
Awesome
Legend!!
One word ,Ledgend .
Some of these quotes be fkkn awesome t shirts. "Cracked 3 or 4 vertebrae..thats all"
lol ...I was out for 5 (5?) months following a tragic accident .... you broke your back? .... ohhh, just 3 vertebrae.
Learn from the legend
Could of been a legend except what he did to Catchpole.
Too many off the ball hits to be called a true sportsman. Hard man though
A grub. Deliberately injured a defenceless Ken Catchpole. Ruined his career.
What happened?
Different eras , different standards ,
And he was under coaches instructions to teach him a lesson
Much respect
