This game was bad in both writing and gameplay just boring. 100% the game and still nothing to do and nothing to be excited about.
The liberal gender bs is annoying and the ugly character creation and characters are hard to ignore. I honestly can’t believe that I wasted money doing the $80 pre-order I have extreme buyers remorse over this…
You just want to lock you FPS as the refresh rate of your monitor. So if youre running a 60 hz cap at 60 fps. if youre running a 144 hz then cap your fps at 144. You should do this for every game

@@KingNOOB-kj7vz I strongly disagree with you. There is so much to find and achieve in this game, like the lucky dice and poetry pages. This game has some of the best story writing in the entire series, Tina being hilarious as usual, along with newcomers to the series Valentine and Frette being hilarious and making sense in the Borderlands universe.
No offense k6 but your insane if you think the chaos thing is better then bl3's mayhem modes. It's easily like 8+ hours to hit chaos 50 if you complete each run in 10 minutes or more, not including farming gear to deal with the scaling and breaks/sleeping irl

borderlands 2 was the magnum opus of the series and handsome jack just set an impossibly high bar for villains in the series as well
very true bro. Nobody was prepared for the amount of glory that game would bring and the expectations it would set for the series for the rest of time basically. No matter what, will always be my favorite video game series, good or bad

Normal mode is still fun, but having to replay the story again is super meh to me.

I’m really disappointed that they messed up on the non-respawning named enemies again. They’ve had two games now where that was a major issue. Why haven’t they learned yet ?

Seems like they're trying to force you into chaos dungeons by the sound of it. Not sure how I feel about this tbh. Not being able to target a specific boss loot table could become very frustrating in a game with almost limitless loot variations.
@@Alacod19 I’ll hold off any strong opinions until I get the actual game, but I’m afraid it’ll end up being like farming for legendaries in Digistruct Peak. That would be awful.
I guess we'll see just how much of an issue it is when the game goes out. I kind of like the idea of getting named enemies to spawn specifically in Chaos Chambers, since that is supposed to be the "endgame" from the sounds of it, and that is where a lot of farming happens.
If everyone bitches they will change it so bitch about it to them so we can get what we want
Can't wait to get my hands on this. While I wish there were a few things they learned and implemented from BL3 from the get-go (respawning named enemies, for instance), I'm sure they're things that will get ironed out in the long run, as they did show a willingness to adjust as necessary with BL3. Overall it looks like a blast though. Counting down!

I cant understand how they still dont get it right with dedicated loot drops and easier respawning (without leaving and reentering, which is especially annoying in MP) ...

They’ve done this on purpose since presequel I feel like just so they can fix it in a patch and be like hey we updated the game be happy with that much 😅

This game, for me at least, fixed one of my biggest issues with 3 the fact your character is a active and real person in the story, they talk they act, the exist, no more just watching Maya die, no more only talking when spoken to, its amazing!!!
Yeah same, it really annoyed me watching cutscenes that could be stopped easily by a vault hunter, let alone 4 of them. Or fuckin 6 in bl2's case lol
@@AmaryIIion see in some cases I understand why the vault hunter in 2 didn't react, like Roland being shot, it was unexpected and sudden, Jack was thought of like a egotistical maniac but no one excepted him to literally just murder a main character, and then capture Lilith on the spot and she clearly reacted slower then Jack did
But in Three we see Maya get beat by a what isn't a twitch streamer whos very hungy when Maya y'know 1v1d the warrior, a being made to 1v1 a fucking god like entity known as the destroyer, and in that room we saw her not use her power or have the vault hunter ready hell even Ava had a GUN like Canonical 6 PEOPLE are ready to merc 2 people on site, story should've ended in the vault of the rampager
@@THERATSANDTHERATS yeah that and the moment lost her power, that garage door cannot stop a 15 foot tall robot and a siren. Not to mention they had a bandit technical next to them as well.. They could have gotten through that door and done something, story could have ended there as well lol
@@AmaryIIion honestly considered how Powerful Lilith is supposed to be she literally should have just like obliterated the twins as soon as they showed up, at that time they didn't have the power to warp in or anything and Lilith was able to teleport a MASSIVE piece of land in 2 and then in 2 blew it the fuck up with nothing but some purple rocks and her mind essentially, two edgy teens shouldn't have been a problem

It's not that good. Writing is total shit and very annoying. Gameplay is ok but as soon as Tiny Tina chimes in, it's like nails on a chalk build.

They missed a huge feature! In the vendor when comparing items you can no longer press a button to sell and buy like in BL3

I hope so, farming is absolutely one of my favorite things to do! The thrill of the hunt for legendaries, especially knowing that Legendaries feel like legendaries again in Wonderlands.
@@Vrieskeh I think once you kill a named enemy they can show up in the chaos dungeon. I'm sure the idea is to have us playing chaos dungeons for drops instead of farming a single boss on repeat
@@benschaly imo that's great. Farming the same boss over and over for a drop is boring. I rather run around killing stuff and getting drops that way. Idc if they add target farming as long as chaos dungeons also have the bosses. This may be the best borderlands game can't wait to play it.

@@Vrieskeh Legendaries always felt like legendaries. Just because they drop frequently, doesn't mean you're getting anything worth a damn.
Btw. Every looter game I have EVER played, I have had ATROCIOUS luck with getting the best gear. From Destiny, to Division, to Outriders, to Borderlands. I loved that BL3 threw legendaries at me, even if it wasn't stuff I wanted. It was a nice change of pace. 🤣
From other reviews I've seen people say chaos dungeons are near perfect aside from them putting the mayhem modifiers in them to get more crystals to get more stuff at the end
Yeah but you can absolutely dodge modifiers if you want
@@Ki11ersix I think the problem is that if you want to go for those higher levels, you HAVE to do the Mayhem Mods. Just becuase you can avoid it dosen't mean it's still not a problem.

Your also a professional borderlands player most of us arent lol so the modifiers might be more challenging for us

At 5:22 his random character looks like a love child between lifeline(apex) and bearded shrek
I've found Wonderlands to be amazing, but also have a major gripe. I have found that while playing split screen on a 4K TV with my wife, opening your inventory and looking at items does not display any details about the item (especially wards, rings, armors) like it does with weapons. Frustrating to have to wait for some solo play time or a vending machine to see if an item you just looted is better than the one equipped. I know it's just a QoL improvement that needs to be made.
I’ve had this issue with split screen too! If you click in on R3 you can see the details of the item, but it’s super flawed because once you exit that view, it takes you back to the top of your inventory. Still, it’s an option if you’re really curious about an item while playing split screen!
Bro for some reason I got emotional at the end if the video when he said it could become the new fan favorite of the series.
Is farmable bosses really a staple of the series? I thought the staple was launching without farmable bosses/dedicated loot pools and adding them in due to community pressure. I really get the impression they want to move away from that grinding gameplay loop but it doesn't seem they've actually gone to the effort of making a substantial alternative
borderlands 1 was mostly about chest runs and mabye a few boss runs, but mostly it was about the chest runs for loot, and it later changed into farmable bosses that also made it fun to see how fast you could nuke a specific boss with your new weapon
Borderlands 2 almost EVERY SINGLE named enemy respawned and had a dedicated drop.
Farming Crawmweraxx in Borderlands 1 was a lot of fun with friends and with no re-spawns what's to do for endgame??? It seems like Gearbox is shifting focus to replays rather than re-spawning the named enemies. I don't mind replaying but we should have the option for a new game plus with tougher versions of the enemies from the original playthroughs.
nah if farmable bosses dont exist, i dont play. that simple. if i cant farm to get a gun that my friend somehow got 1st try, i feel super excluded and feel i didnt even get my moneys worth for the game. buying a borderlands game i EXPECT bosses to respawn. (i kill the boss and dont get the gun, if i WANT that gun i'd have to restart a new character? bullshit.)

As long as they expand upon and release tons of raid bosses, new extremely rare rarity’s after legendary, and named enemies/bosses with rare dedicated drops then I’m happy but if they don’t expand upon those things I’m done with borderlands for good. I love borderlands 1 and 2 but 3 just removed way to many of the things I loved about the series.

@@ThePolarpop well the hybrid guns from BL1 were really cool and difficult to get as well as the legendary eridian guns, BL1 pearlescents which BL2 had pearls too but were pretty easy to get compared to BL1 but it had all the other cool rarity’s like seraphs, and effervescents to farm at endgame, BL2 Type raid bosses with like 1-2 in each dlc, cult of the vault symbols in BL2 and presequel which a lot of them are really well hidden so it gave alot of incentive to fully explore every nook and cranny in every level, the unique guns from BL1 being farmable at different rarity’s from bosses, BL2 had extremely rare heads and skins that were dedicated drops from certain bosses like terramorphus, verminous, henry, Son of mothrak, etc, the challenges in BL2 and Pre sequel being unique to every level like hit a secret switch or jump on every couch opposed to BL3 challenges which were moxy tower, claptrap spare parts and typhoon logs in every single level. And Although not a gameplay level the story in 3 wasn’t as good and the humor feel flat at times but it had its good moments which if I’m being honest I really like BL3 in general but i feel like there’s too much that was changed or removed from the previous games for it to realize it’s full potential but I still really enjoy playing it when I have the chance cause it’s fun.

@@biIl It's not about farming the same boss over and over, it's about being able to know what you're looking for and seek it out rather than just crossing your fingers and hoping you get what you want out of the obscene number of possibilities. It's why boss farming needs dedicated drop pools as well to make it worthwhile.

2:25 you need a monitor higher then 60 hz to see a difference the reason why you don’t see one is because it’s 60 no matter what. That’s what your monitor is capped at. If you got a 144 hz you’d see the difference.
Borderlands is one of my favorite all time series and Wonderlands has been surprisingly delightful..like the best BL game since 2 good. The maps and locations might even be the best in the entire series.

I still can't believe, aside from loot and enemy issues, that the UI is so appalling. From Borderlands 2 we've (or at least I have) had issues with the inventory, map and quests and markers. I'm just shocked that those issues haven't been addressed at all really
another franchise with a similar problem fromsoft games when it comes to bleed. you can roll the bleed damage proc in pvp since demons soul(and also being able to build bleed on someone when they are rolling.
I don't have any of those problems.
The only issues I’ve come across with UI so far is that the pause menu is a bit buggy and when you sell gear it puts you back to the top of your inventory. Other than that it’s been an extremely smooth experience. A phenomenal launch performance wise compared to the benchmark the industry has set over the past few years
@@chaoticpuncher8756 Yeah it's had a very good launch but it's not a multi-player game. You can't compare a game that's completely offline to something like lost ark or new world or any massive launches recently.

Lets not forget that demo was made in early development of the game, many changes may have been made and hopefully many bugs and issues fixed right after releasing the demo. I'm sure they already found many of these issues and fixed many of them, but even if not they will fix them as soon as possible

@@RemingtonSteel the version he played was an early release demo, a full replica of the actual game. However changes can be made to both as the devs see fit. The one he played on was available while the game was still in development if I recall correctly, and might be behind on updates. Reguardless I'm not saying major things are gonna be different im just meaning minor bug fixes etc. They used this early version as a test to see what needed fixed for the full game right before release and hopefully fixed many problems.

one of my favorite parts of this game I feel like isn’t talked about a lot is how cool the level looks. Each level I entered I was like “yo this looks sick”

- bl2 style Boss fights (learning mechanics)
Cons:
- unskippable tutorial (30 min)
- UI issues (specifically map interaction)
- Can't change names
- More UI issues in team play (ping ground to let team know you are downed)
Meh:
- Feels optimized for controller over mouse and keyboard
- Enchantments are anointments but easier (better but not sure how good/bad yet)
Seems like a wonderful game and I can't wait to play/watch some of your videos (after I finish my first run through)
@M.G. Michael No clue. I do know that the aim is by default not in the middle of the screen so you have to go to settings to change it to the middle like every other computer game. So little things like that might be what he means by Doens't feel optimized for pc.
I appreciate that they have a lot of open levels that feel very similar to borderlands 1&2 and very linear levels like borderlands 3. They blend perfectly and the set dressing make sense for when they do either one.
Wasn’t borderlands 2 the one with linear levels (Washburn, candlerakk crag, wildlife preservation, bloodshot stronghold, etc.) and 3 more open? (Pretty much every map on eden 6 and Pandora, etc.)
@@milogop3574 They both had a mixture of open world style hub levels and more linear "instanced levels" throughout. Wonderlands tries to merge the two somewhat awkwardly with massive levels and tiny rogue-like "randomized" levels for Chaos Chambers. Nothing makes you pine for hand made levels when you have to deal with a robot randomly putting blocks together poorly.
I think it's fun, but something super annoying is that inventory sorting is broken. Sorting by type no longer arrange weapons by individual types.
Haven't finished the game, been doing a lot of the side missions, and I am level 30 now... But I have already enjoyed this game 10x as much as BL3. The writing is clever and funny, and combat is fun (Borderlands 3 had that down, to be fair) but the added bonus of fantasy nonsense from Tiny is just great. I love my class but I am already hyped to try other combinations, SO MANY possibilities.
Borderlands 2 takes the cake still, but this is next up in the hierarchy. I hope they put a lot of work into this game, so much potential.

Yea I noticed that when teammates go down its tough to tell from a distance. The indicator tthat is used to show that needs to be easier to notice.

I just bought this game. I played through BL 2 with my brother, split screen, back in the day. The fact that we can play through this game via cross plat is amazing. I’m REALLY enjoying it so far. It’s a bit buggy at times which is annoying, but great game.
Yay can’t wait for the game. Pre ordered last week and I’m on Elden Ring’s final boss right now so I’m more than ready!

Chaos runs are some insane shit. You think that you finished the game and this is just small bonus content and then when you fight a huge boss in a desert.... man. Not only that, it's actually challenging.
Glad to hear you liked the story. I'm generally fine with a meh story if the gameplay makes up for it, but BL3 in particular pissed me off so much I haven't been able to pick it up again after the first time.
It's been years. Get over it.
I also really enjoy ttw, favorite thing about it would probably be the references the characters make throughout the story in relation to the older games.

3 really could have been 2 games and just expand the story (like increase the length of the maliwan saga). It felt extremely rushed

So all the stuff we hated from the pre-sequel and BL3 is back. I can understand people being able to have fun with the game, but Gearbox clearly hasn't learned anything about their fans. It's honestly sad that - again - I'll have to wait for them to add features that were in previous games for me to be able to fully enjoy the experience.
The melee in this game is elite, praying this wasnt a one and done

@@DieselPanda -- It's a timed exclusive with Epic for now. Issue is with Borderlands 3, it took a few months to come to Steam, like 6 months. There isn't a release date set yet, but some are thinking that this will probably release on Steam around Sept. 15th, 2022 if past history means anything.
@@DieselPanda It could be a 6 month exclusive like BL3 was or it could be a year. Hopefully it's just 6 months. Honestly wish it wasn't exclusive. Tired of having to wait or just not getting some games cause of it.

how come they didnt implement respawning named enemies and seemingly opted for random loot on chaos levels instead of dedicated drops? this is literally the thing we immediatly complained about in BL3 i dont see how that decision was logically made
All publicity is good publicity prolly like what happened with bl3 that once ppl started complaining and making videos they patched it I’d guess this is a calculated move on their part not just being stupid cuz they knew it’s been a problem

By respawning enemies do you mean bosses? Like you can’t close the game and start it again to farm?

My biggest complaint is that the lucky dice ane other collection items are character specific, and not account wide. I'm not collecting the fucking dice every new play through.
That sounds annoying as fuck, they could have just restricted access to the bonus through level locks so the lvl1 characters don't have crazy drop rates
So far I've seen 2 reviews and the most important thing to me is that it looks like they nailed the combat balancing on day 1.

I put about 3,000+ hours into BL2, but I could barely get myself to play BL3 after about 100 hours. I lost faith in the series and had no interest in Wonderlands but this review has got my hopes up. If these so called changes come at some point (like dedicated drops, Borderlands games borderline unplayable with that imo) I might give it a go. Thanks for the review K6!

glad to hear the villain is actually good for change, the twins left a fowl taste in my mouth when it comes to interesting villains
The twins, BL3's characters, and writing were easily the worst out of the series
I never really liked the old way of grinding out loot by hunting down and killing named bosses- a lot of the travel time was annoying and you were never guaranteed the type of drop you wanted, plus it's just the exact same fight over and over and over. The Chaos Chamber at least for me personally seems like a MUCH better way of going about grinding for endgame loot c:
Me either and after a few drops I would just get bored. Chaos dungeon sounds amazing can't wait to spend hours in there. I do think there should be an option for ppl who would rather farm the same enemy. Options are always a good thing.
I get that, but I wanna be able to farm what will be a guaranteed chance at a specific item, Chaos chamber spawn a bunch of different bosses, so it'll be a less consistent farm sadly. If they let you customize which bosses/enemies/map you do after c20 that would be amazing. It seems like they put the takedowns from bl3 and put them up to 10, I can't wait.
@@scxnlines that's fair! They do allow you to choose what type you're going for, but the weapon itself will be harder if you're looking for something specific
@@scxnlines you can choose your reward type in chambers, so it isn't random across the entire loot pool
Thing is, it'll be the same thing as having a chance to get the drop... but now you just have a chance go get the boss ad well.

I think they totally misunderstood the issue with anointments. In my opinion the anointment/enchantment shouldn't be something that modifies the damage of the gun, it should be something that totally changes your playstyle with the gun, or how you use it, kind of like the manufacturer aspects (atlas tracking, jacobs headshots etc)
I disagree. I love how it modifies the gun and before i get crucified, that grind for a god roll
That constant "am i gonna get it??" Makes up alot of looter shooters. Look at how excited killer6 was when he got a 94% sham
You wanna improve annointments? Have less of them. Nobody cares about "next mag will have 50% corrosion damage"
Like maybe only have 10-15 annointments
I'll probably do as i did with BL3, wait till its done and all content is released
With the drop rates, I’m glad they made Legendaries more rare than they were in Borderland 3. They now feel legendary and rare like it felt back in Borderlands 2 and 1.

Thank you for the review K6. Definitely need those respawning bosses. Really happy that the game seems to run really well. BL3 was plagued with performance issues so this was needed. Excited to get my hands on it.
It was? I didn't have many issues on PS5, but that obviously doesn't mean they weren't there.
@@Tcrror launch BL3 was not great but especially on PC. Even with a 3080 you cant get frames nearly as high as other games.
This is an excellent review compared to other RUclipsrs who aren't as invested in this franchise. It's exactly what I expected i.e. not BL4 but an extension of BL3 same engine and gameplay but a new skin and story. I've gone ahead and purchased it. I agree with you on some of the criticisms and I think Gearbox will be watching these reviews and taking feedback for future game updates, bugs, hot fixes etc. so we should be fine. Thank you! :)
Great game, imaginative area designs. One issue I have though is in a few areas the frame rate drops and there’s some stuttering this is on the Xbox XS version

The only thing I was genuinely worried about was performance, AND ACCORDING TO MOST PEOPLE ITS AMAZING. So glad I preordered this beauty.

@@bungifish2227 im also worried about that since they havent bothered to fix up split screen for bl3 yet and its about as laggy as ever. not being able to open up your inventory during a fight without lagging the whole game for your couch friend is not ideal :(
@@sarasmedberg8203 exactly, kinda annoying how no reviewers are talking about split screen for this game. I heard on PS5 it can do 4 player split screen, but on PS4 it can only do 2 player split screen. But if it's anything like BL3 then I'll be disappointed.

Appreciate the review as it is really helpful for me when debating on getting it! In my limited play time it is a fun game, I do find the overworld map very jarring. Really kills the action.
The only reason this game exists is so we could blow up the ocean and Mr Torgue could have some closure.
