Mahindra's contribution to indian auto market has been exceptional.. it is a synonym to real suv .
I am from Uttarakhand and since childhood i have seen how mahindra cars are lifeline of the hilly areas, both passenger cars and utility vehicle have been performing so well.
Powerful and reliable engines with low maintance cost ..almost every mahinda car is practical in terms of price and usability.
Regarding the built quality Mahindas built quality have been exception.
xuv 300 is far better car then nexon also looks and feels like a proper suv yet nexon leads in sale.
other cars like thar, xuv700, scorpio, scorpion each car is unmatched.
Mahindra lacks marketting strategy also they need to ramp up there production as the waiting period is too high.

One major omission in cons of GDI; carbon buildup around valve seals. Even Toyota suffered bad with this issue of GDI. The standard now for power and reliability is to use port and direct injection combination system. The cycle between port and direct is adjusted by the computers based on several parameters. This is why the overall lifespan of GDI only engines are much lower compared to port injection ones.
On another note, love your content. Very few automobile enthusiasts channels in India which attempt to explain engineering aspects. Best to you.

Fuel injection was used on German BF 109 planes in world war 2. Inverse V12 engines of Bf109 had fuel injection. Fuel injection is actually a pretty old technology but it was only used in aviation and sports cars. It took time for it to evolve enough be used in commuter automobiles.

Direct injection engines generally have reliability issues due to valve carbon deposits but port injection system doesn't have this issue in addition to better overall efficiency. This is a critical design priority about what the designer gives to the customer. Not all customers are obsessed with Power , But everyone expects the vehicle to start and run without hiccups everytime

Well, guess the long term pains of GDI have not been spelt here. They have a nasty tendency to carbon up at the intake valve side which over a period of time is extremely difficult and very expensive to clean and fix. Port fuel injection keeps intake valves and combustion chamber clean and adding fuel injector cleaner at every service helps keep things in order. Toyota and Lexus, which make the best and most reliable engines had had a setback on their GDi engines and were labelled as Toyota's worst engines. But then new Toyotas are coming with port as well as direct injection which provides be best of everything. Anyhow, small turbo GDi gasoline engines are short lived. Too much pressure. Literally half the life of a conventional engine. So the choice is yours... Buy a relatively reliable and cheaper MPFI engine and sacrifice on running costs or save on fuel and bleed more than your savings to maintain and repair a GDI only engine....

  • @SOURADEEPBISWAS

I read about Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) on Internet. It has major cons. Carbon deposit in back side of valves, which requires engine flushing to remove them. Many people from foreign countries where this engine has been in use for long, has complained about this issue.. I will still prefer Port fuel injection (PFI) engine over GDI. People here still prefer cars that requires low maintenance. However Mahindra is different. They sell only SUVs, mostly enthusiastics buy them. Higher cost can justify GDI (Torqui Muscled Engine)

Besides being expensive, GDI engines have problems that reduce their durability. These engines develop carbon deposits on the intake valves. Maybe Tata has been hesitant in adopting direct injection technology in their petrol engines because they do not want their engines to get the bad reputation of being not very durable or those that require costly maintenance. Mahindra doesn't care if they get this reputation. It is a matter of time, a few years, before people who value durability of engines realise that all that performance for Mahindra GDI engines also comes with poor durability and expensive maintenance and repairs.

    • @sairoadways4365

@@sairoadways4365So far for passenger car engines, both Tata and Mahindra have similar reputations (good or bad) in terms of of reliability, durability, and performance, though Mahindra engines are by-and-large better performing. But now, with the introduction of GDI engines, Mahindra will not be at par with Tata petrol engines in terms of durability. The real-life data will be available in about a year when customer reviews and complaint will start appearing everywhere.

    • @sairoadways4365
      @sairoadways4365 Год назад +1

@@subratabn Mahindra engines are far more reliable and refined than tata engines that is the reason why tata was a failure and now needs to use fiat engines whereas Mahindra uses their own engines in fact other makers like ford agreed to use Mahindra engines in their car as well. GDI engine is different and their reliability time will tell.

GdI engines are notorious for carbon formation.
Mpi engines - Fuel is sprayed over the intake values and since fuel is a very good solvent, carbon build up is much lessor in MPI than compared to GDI ENGINES

GDI has it's own share of drawback. Getting more our of an engine using turbocharger means that engine is made to work more than it's normal capacity, thus exposing it to more wear and tear, resulting in decreasing the life of an engine.... Mahindra has been going through some problems with it's engines and turbochargers....😊
