I have directly worked on XUV700 and XUV300 turbosport petrol engine tuning in Mahindra and one thing i can say is that those engines are state of the art, drivability and engine tuning is of the global standards. Mahindra also has given its 1.2L TGDI engine to Ssangyong for Tivoli G12, so it speaks volumes of the competency of Mahindra in this regard.

The old reliable workhorse Mercedes Benz engine used in force vehicles like gurka, tempo traveller, force trax... Isuzu engine used in ambassador.. The scorpio used or switched to CRDI when toyota introduced innova in the market with common rail tech....😊

I have worked on Mahindra Navistar engines which were used in off applications . I have seen these engines were operated more than 1Lac operating hrs still unbeatable by legends like Cummins etc
@@1008.1 2 lakh kilometers is above the durability requirements of a light duty engine. But if you do good maintenance and top up synthetic oil every 4000 km, it will last more than 2 lac kilometers
I have worked at Mahindra for 6+ years in Powertrain dept. So I can confirm, engine is made my Mahindra R&D inhouse. Avl , Bosch are just consultants, they provide base softwares and help in simulation. And that is only 20% of work. Remaining 80% is done by Mahindra on their own.
Revotorq n Revotron r Tata's own engine developed in India & AVL assisted in development of these engines . Similarly , AVL helped in development of Mahindra's engine . AVL do not directly manufacture engines for tata n Mahindra ! It just help them to tune .... Fiat earlier used to provide smaller engines to Suzuki , tata n others . Now each brand has developed their own . Currently , Fiat provide 2.0 Diesel engine to Harrier + mg hector + citreon c5 + Jeep compass !

Pros..... 1) Rugged Heavy metal 2) Top notch build quality 3) Spacious interiors 4) Road presence design 5) From Upper range they have lot of products from Diesel and Petrol versions. 6) Champion in Off roading 7) Star in rural and hilly terrain 8) Excellent for rough usage 9) Pulls lot of passenger weight 10) Mostly has best Scores in crash tests. .......... Cons.... (mostly in comparison with Japanese Cars in competition). 1) Pathetic in engine refinement. 2) Heavy NVH and the vibration noise inside the cabin is very high. 3) Heavy maintenance cost 4) Many times customer have complained about engine failure. 5) Body parts rattle. 6) Service centre not the best compared to Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda or Toyota. 7) Mileage worst in its segment. 8) High spare part replacement costs due to frequent issues in spare part failure. 9) In the entry segment they have only KUV100 which is spacious but extremely poor in mileage and pathetic design. 10) Mahindra does not have a high selling product in the Indian Hot Cake segment of Rs 4 lakh - 6 Lakh on road. . sure engine of M&M are good , KUV 100 i purchased 2016 make , BODY used in KUV 100 was so bad it got corrugated rusty , i used lot of money and time to repair but everyone know rusting is cancer in car, with best engine this free gift of rusting is complimentary. I sold KUV100 at cheaper price , I learn that time KUV 100 has no resale value even less km run ,best steel produced in India yet lower quality was used to compensate cost. body repairing of rusted car may not cost more but repairing it takes week, or some time more. Sir you gave detail description on mahindra engines. But while describing about petrol engines you point out mild hybrid. Can you give details on how to convert old cars ( weather diesel or petrol) in to active hybrids to reduce pollution n increase fuel efficiency including the cost involved.
What about carbon buildup on valves in tgdi engine... Mahindra never thought about it. Nothing in maintenance for tgdi engine. It wil call eventually problems in each engine... After 60000 kms.
I think tata 1.2 turbo 3 cylinder petrol engine is best of all time....most refined engine...silent like an electric car....zero vibrations.....power like sports car.....milege of 30 kmpl....most realible Engine ....zero noise even on 6k rpm...

What about carbon buildup on valves in tgdi engine... Mahindra never thought about it. Nothing in maintenance for tgdi engine. It wil call eventually problems in each engine... After 60000 kms.

I think tata 1.2 turbo 3 cylinder petrol engine is best of all time....most refined engine...silent like an electric car....zero vibrations.....power like sports car.....milege of 30 kmpl....most realible Engine ....zero noise even on 6k rpm...
