Diesel is the best for Indian road conditions. Also Best fuel economy, best engine life , best resale value , good low end torque for bad road conditions and so many.
Turbo Diesel is still undisputed for the rest of India, otherwise a NA petrol engine is good enough for most. Turbo petrol is iffy and hybrid batteries need changing on top of engine maintenance.

In India petrol and diesel will rule another few decades. When CNG was introduced it was thought to be a game changer but it is yet to reach every town in India and not many models of cars are available by different automobile makers. EV's has recently started gaining traction in some metro's but the range anxiety and lack of charging infrastructure poses greater risk. So overall petrol and diesel will rule for another few decade's.
Our government needs awareness about Series hybrid for 4 wheelers for better fuel efficiency and no range anxiety. They need to understand that pure EV cars and trucks are impractical.
I just got a Petrol car towards the end of 2023 due to lack of vfm hybrid options. I wished the government pushed car makers to focus on hybrids, rather than EV.

I agree with your point regarding the number of cylinders. The refinement in 4 cylinder engines is just unmatched and it is good economically too. But as far as making forced induction and GDI compulsory is concerned, it will just make the engines less reliable and also will have a higher upfront cost (maybe with higher maintenance too). For example, GDI injects the fuel directly into the combustion chamber, so the cylinder liner design should be such that it should not only withstand that high pressure but also be extremely leak proof. PDI engines are just simpler and also have more mileage, which at least 60% of the population wants. Even with turbos, you have to deal with that initial lag if your pressure is too high. So city use is pretty cumbersome. Even the old cars which you mentioned had more displacement with NA engines instead of these tech. Hence were more reliable. So yeah if you’re a driving enthusiast who wants that adrenaline rush on the highways and stuff, go with GDI or forced induction car, but as for the majority of the population, they would rather be happy with NA. But yeah, both wouldn’t be happy with the 3 cylinder vibrations for sure😅
@@c04-rhikbanerjee55I will also take the large displacement NA engine, over a GDI engine, but problem is due to trend of downsizing, engines are becoming smaller day by day. Due to it being so small, NA engines are not able to make enough power, maybe that's why GDI and Forced induction came into the picture.
Yeah I totally get that. For performance, GDI or forced induction is anyway better By the way, PDI is port direct injection, just like most vehicles in the market

I want to say that, the EV companies should also start a battery recycling plant. Since lithium and other materials are recyclable from a battery more than 90%, it will help for the profit of companies. Moreover, the companies can use that recycled one in their cars. Therefore, I assume that it can reduce the price of battery. The Sodium-ion batteries which may come in future can also help to get the rate of EV's to down.
Actually currently it's not fisable to recycle batteries Sodium Ion batteries will be more heavy so they are not good for vehicles The main thing we have to do is to setup a lithium Ion cell factory in India Currently we import all Li cells from china with 100% import duty so just by manufacturing cells we can bring down the cost of evs by 25-30%

Using diesel to dig the minerals to make the batteries, then no plan for battery disposal, then no plans for other pollutant’s disposal. Govt ki bhi hypocrisy alag hai.
oil does not come out of bathroom tap, there is emission at extraction stage for digging earth, then pumping out crude using diesel pump then in ships used to carry crude oil across thousands of km of sea to the refinery then in refinery to perform fractional distillation, you need to boil the crude, again burn fossil fuel then transport it in trucks and trains to petrol pumps all over the world

I agree with most of the points you have mentioned here, however one of the things you have mentioned was the maintenance cost is less for EV and Hybrids, but that's not true. Let's keep the practicality aside for a while because that's one of the known drawback of EV and also agree that the running cost is low for EV, but the maintenance frequencies and part replacement are still much more higher than the non-EV cars. Also want to consider few of the safety aspects as well.
More features on EV: They have 8 years warranty on battery pack. Charging infra is strong in many places, can charge in a petrol pump as well but using slow charger. Tata has LFP battery that Tesla uses in some of its car and has life of 16-25 years. The same battery can be used as Home Inverter
I used petrol car and I don't think naturally aspirated engines are producing good enough powers. They are laggy. Turbo petrol are good but milage issue. Thus diesel. I hope that make sense. Also bs6 diesels emissions are quite controlled so there not much issue.

My father purchased Ford ecosport diesel because he wanted something which resembles SUV but wanted something which he can afford to purchase and drive.
Guys don't get mislead by half baked information like this guy is providing. I own a diesel sedan which I used to commute to my office daily. My daily running is 135 km approx. I used to spend 15000-16000/- every month on fuel expenses alone. (let alone the maintenance cost) For this reason I did thorough research and bought Tiago EV (yes, my diesel sedan is still with me). Now my running cost per month is 3500-4000/- , which is a big relief. One thing I'll let you know is that you can't have an EV as your only car. If you're certain that your daily commute is fixed than EV is a blessing. You can cover the higher purchase price within 2-3 years. Also the lithium ion batteries are high quality, they don't die just like that.
Finally someone talking facts. All I see these days are petrolheads bashing EVs without even understanding about them and saying hydrogen is the future, without having a slightest knowledge of how hydrogen works and what problems are holding it back.
Diesel car is problem then what about Diesel Trucks??? ev is NOT pollution free. The only futuristic solution would be Hybrids and Hydrogens. and definitely petrol is still here to stay for at least 25-30 years in India! it is hardly possible to change the whole fleet from petrol to non petrol because that will create huge price hike in market.
look up how hydrogen is made -- using CH4 reforming, its worse than thermal power plant even if you use water and electrolysis, you need 50kWh electricity and 60L water to make 1kg H2 gas 1kg h2 can let mirai fcev drive for just 100km while same 50kWh worth of renewable electricity can charge model s for 50% and drive 250-300km
yes, but it might be formed with less pollution if researched heavily in future. moreover H2 will have pumps just like petrol or diesel and it won't take 30-70 minutes (ye bhi kam karke bola w.r.t. ev's charging time) to have a full tank h2. yes the range might be less as of now but in future it will increase!@@shresthsonkar9207

By 2030, renewable will be in majority (>50%) Coming to the absolutely genius excuse of “battery production”, that must be compared to oil extraction from far off oil rigs in middle of sea, that uses pumps using diesel Then same crude oil is transported to land via huge tanker ships which also run on fossil fuel. Then the refinery where this fuel is refined also uses heat for fractional distillation which again comes from burning fossil fuel. Then this refined fuel is transported to depot using trains again diesel or electricity Then this fuel is transported to each pump using trucks again, diesel Once you count all these emissions from oil supply chain, the numbers for battery production will look tiny in comparison.

Since lithium and other materials are recyclable from a battery more than 90%, it will help for the profit of companies. Moreover, the companies can use that recycled one in their cars.

Using diesel to dig the minerals to make the batteries, then no plan for battery disposal, then no plans for other pollutant’s disposal. Govt ki bhi hypocrisy alag hai.
oil does not come out of bathroom tap,
there is emission at extraction stage for digging earth, then pumping out crude using diesel pump
then in ships used to carry crude oil across thousands of km of sea to the refinery
then in refinery to perform fractional distillation, you need to boil the crude, again burn fossil fuel
then transport it in trucks and trains to petrol pumps all over the world
Digging for oil and refining it too cause huge pollution
Battery disposal is not required ,focus should be recyling so that metals used in battey can be reused
Is Diesel still more polluting from BS6? I think emissions of Diesel vehicles reduced drastically, equivalent to Petrol vehicles in BS6 and more so in BS6 Phase 2. Petrol cars do not match the Torquey nature of Diesel cars.

I agree with most of the points you have mentioned here, however one of the things you have mentioned was the maintenance cost is less for EV and Hybrids, but that's not true. Few years back, we used to get 1.6l engines in normal hatchbacks, 2l engines in most mid range sedans. Now most engines are half of the size, and almost all of them are 3 cylinder models only. Why do car makers reduce the number of cylinders? Does anyone not know the less no. of cylinders in an engine, the more it vibrates. So why do these stupid things? Why can't they use 4 cylinder engines in all the cars available in India? Fyi Even the old Alto used to come with a 1040cc 4 cylinder engine, now only 3 cylinder vibrators are available in this car. It sounds so horrible, and the seat vibrations is so pronounced. What's your take on this matter? Should car makers set a minimum engine size for all cars? how about implementing a new rule, that all petrol engines must have GDI and Forced induction?
For driving enthusiasts nothing matches the performance of TSI and TGDI engines mated to DSG and DCT gearbox.
2L and 2.2L diesel engines give same mileage as 1.5TSI and 1.5TGDI engines.
A XUV 700 or Harrier Diesel AT returns almost same mileage as a Seltos 1.5 turbo DCT or 1.5 TSI DSG engines from VW/Skoda.
Why only worry about mileage. Some prefer driving pleasure, comfort and tech.
@@ashishIMpro Ya the 1.5 TSI engines from VW/Skoda and the 1.5 TGDI engines from KIA/Hyundai are the benchmarks of engine technology. Like VW/Skoda offer cylinder deactivation technology that shuts down 2 cylinder at lower rpm for better efficiency. And KIA/Hyundai offer Variable Valve Technology that has same function.
Diesel engine gadiyo ko aajkal all India tourist permit nahi de rahi hai Indian government. Only cng and petrol gadiyo ko mil raha h.
Going by the logic of the video cng should be on no 1. As it has all the benefits of cng car and when required can run on petrol as well, best of both worlds. And now tata has cng with complete bootspace and amt aswell
But cng bootspace gone

Beautiful Analysis. So well done.
@@shas312 and all these h2 supporters are probably the same people who bunked chemistry class in school “because I will never apply it in real life”
Diesel car is problem then what about Diesel Trucks??? No one talks about this, approximately 4Million trucks in India and cars approx 1.6 million, they doesn't exist on earth right 😂 unnecessarily diesel cars are targeted because to sell EV, manufacturing companies, diesel trucks, unwanted waste dumping etc these are not causing pollution, Only diesel cars, come on guys wake up its pure strategy to sell EV which is causing more pollution then any other things but they will not talk about it.
ev is NOT pollution free. The only futuristic solution would be Hybrids and Hydrogens.
and definitely petrol is still here to stay for at least 25-30 years in India! it is hardly possible to change the whole fleet from petrol to non petrol because that will create huge price hike in market.
Hydrogen is impractical
look up how hydrogen is made -- using CH4 reforming, its worse than thermal power plant
even if you use water and electrolysis, you need 50kWh electricity and 60L water to make 1kg H2 gas
1kg h2 can let mirai fcev drive for just 100km
while same 50kWh worth of renewable electricity can charge model s for 50% and drive 250-300km
@@shresthsonkar9207best mode is cycle 😂
yes, but it might be formed with less pollution if researched heavily in future.
moreover H2 will have pumps just like petrol or diesel and it won't take 30-70 minutes (ye bhi kam karke bola w.r.t. ev's charging time) to have a full tank h2. yes the range might be less as of now but in future it will increase!@@shresthsonkar9207
Hydrogen is pollution free? Hydrogen also needs electricity to produce if ypu consider electrolysis. If its obtained from methane, then again its from carbon based fuel. From where do you get electricity for hydrolysis? Also electrolysis at best is 60% efficient.
In Mumbai the maximum age of Petrol car is 15 years and if you want to keep your car few more years then you have to pay some amount which is known as green tax and you can keep 5 more years and in total the maximum age after paying green tax is 20 years for petrol cars and if you want to extend you can't extend at any cost. After 20 years you have to move your car from Mumbai or you have to scrap the car. Even if I am wrong so you can correct me (telling only about Mumbai and not about other states/Cities)
Who else saw grand viatra ad
the worst thought is EV. People and Governments thinking EV is safe for environment, and after Petrol, less pollution is Diesel.
ICE car even if hybrid. Its causes tail pipe emission, causes dangerous diseases. EVs are least poluting and more efficient in all. Chekc Tony seba analysis, can expect 4C charging BEVs with better range in near future.
Before the genius brigade comes with “but bro thermal electricity”
40% of electricity in India is renewable and only 60% is coal. By 2030, renewable will be in majority (>50%)
Coming to the absolutely genius excuse of “battery production”, that must be compared to oil extraction from far off oil rigs in middle of sea, that uses pumps using diesel
Then same crude oil is transported to land via huge tanker ships which also run on fossil fuel.
Then the refinery where this fuel is refined also uses heat for fractional distillation which again comes from burning fossil fuel.
Then this refined fuel is transported to depot using trains again diesel or electricity
Then this fuel is transported to each pump using trucks again, diesel
Once you count all these emissions from oil supply chain, the numbers for battery production will look tiny in comparison.
EVs bhi pollution krti h silently😅
@@shresthsonkar9207 BEVs battery production polution can be reduced by technology advancement in refining process. And as BEV efficiency is 85-95% it is always superior to ICE engines having efficiency of 25-30%. So much better than petrol, diesel, cng, flux or hydrogen fuels. So china bet on this a decade ago, but India is still becoming the dump yard of ICE engine, prone to Oil and automobile industry lobbying, shame that we deserve this. Need strict standards like the US, UK, or even China. Need to implement Euro 7 equivalent BS-7 or 8 to curb air pollution, alongside with reduction in industrial emissions.
@@krishnachandramenon8 I’m talking I support of ev’s itself
I drive a Nexon EV itself
I’m just clarifying for those genius people who may reply to you saying that battery production is harmful (oil production is worse) and that thermal power makes EV useless (still better to have centralised high efficiency power plant than millions of small inefficient power plant ie engines on the road)
@@DivyankKaushik ice car will always use 100% fossil fuel only
But EV uses 40% renewable energy and 60% fossil only
In future it will reduce further

Companies must release more & more models with hybrid tech.
The instant torque provided by the electric motor gives an EV like performance while petrol engine enables fast refueling and long range. All of this with low emissions and better mileage
Points missed out -> Road Tax benefit on EV & the fact that EV or CNG can reduce trade imbalance for India as both need not depend on oil imports.
Very informative. Cleared all my doubts. I was thinking on the same line. You made me go strong to my thoughts
Diesel power
Sound of Diesel engine and torque and power it provides is unmatched by any other fuel.

Petrol or diesel which car gives more driving experience . Does any bad with petrol carss. For enthusiasts
Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for!!
Great explanation. Please explain deeply about manual gear, automatic gear etc.
Excellent analysis in this video! The Old school Petrol engines have always been the most favorable among an average Indian Car Buyer, especially in Metro cities. Petrol engines are known for being way more refined that the diesel counterparts as well as in some cases hybrids. That being said, 10 year ban is very unlikely to apply to Petrol engines atleast for another decade or two, this being India and considering its huge popularity here.
My big bro is back…with another awesome content 😇🙏🏻
what about hybrid with diesel engine like new generation of fortuner (coming this year)
Excellent review and comprehensive. Well done
My mom have an old celerio cng it give around 30-35 easily still in 2024 so I think I will go with a cng car in future.
Another problem with Hybrid cars is safety. In any front collision, it has the highest chance of catching fire. Otherwise, it is very practical.
Why was 3rd gen Honda City not advised?? I'm planning to buy one in 3 lkh range. Is it a good deal in 2024?... preferably 2012 model of city.
Please make a video/series on Super cars and Sports cars. Like: what are different types of engine? What depends upon engines' litre capacity? And all those things, I'm interested in supercars and I think a lot of people are interested as well. Please make a series/playlist, it's a humble request.

Is it accurate that the GST on EV vehicles and charging, which was previously 18%, has been reduced to 5%? Could you please provide a link for reference on this matter?
But the FM was not kind enough to waveoff the tax on hybrid even during election year. So no hope in that direction as the FM is too greedy.
