I think low maintenance cost is also a major concern here. People don't prefer buying famous brands ie; Mercedes and BMW because ownership cost is also high. On the other hand Toyota's after sale services are cheaper than the German brands. I agree with the reliability factor. Toyota means reliability.

I used to get that feel for Mitsubishi Pajero. Back when it was new here in India that car was one of the rarest and you only associated it with the rich elites.

There were not that many people with that kind of spending potential on a car back then which made that factor even higher for it. Considering the economy of that era it was super expensive as compared to the debut of fortuner. I have barely seen a pajero like twice or thrice in my whole life.

This will have affected fortuner sales. Gloster couldn't compete with fortuner because you wouldn't feel the turbo which fortuner gives. Every terrain condition performance of fortuner will be too smooth & it can go on and on. Gloster is for those who want the car with "uncle feel". ( Nice and sounds like electric )

If tata and mahindra locally manufacture the full size SUV. This will have affected fortuner sales. Gloster couldn't compete with fortuner because you wouldn't feel the turbo which fortuner gives. Every terrain condition performance of fortuner will be too smooth & it can go on and on. Gloster is for those who want the car with "uncle feel". ( Nice and sounds like electric )
Can you give a link where it states Toyota earns only 50k per Fortuner sold? I highly doubt this. No company is saint that they keep their margin so low, that too when the car is in very high demand.
