I will do a review very shortly.

I have been wanting to get a proper cinema lens for the Pocket 4K for a while now. Years ago I had my eyes on the Veydra lenses and when I learned that Meike was pretty much relaunching their own version I knew I had to get one.
So far I am very impressed with the lens. It feels and looks great. The image is beautiful, and it really change the way I shoot with the Pocket.
I took the lens at sunrise and sunset to my usual ‘testing spots’ and had a great time shooting with this guy. I shot everything mostly between T2.2 and T.5.6
Let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

Finally a proper cinema lens. Let me know if you have any questions.
I will do a review very shortly as well so stay tuned :).
Cheers,

Of Two Lands why the looks just so "digital" 😩
Can you possibly do a tutorial on how you graded these shots. Your colors were amazing.
Did you tried the MEIKE 16mm too? if so, what you think is the best between the two of them?
What was your export settings to get the more rectangle look at the end instead of the generic box shape dimension?
Came for Meike footage examples stayed for beautiful imagery that calmed my mood.
Thank you! 🙌❤️
Thank you for watching :) !!
Really beautifully shot. I think this is that perfect mix between using a great camera and still giving an authentic story. I know that area fairly well and i love seeing it captured from such a personal experience.
Thank you so much !! Glad you enjoyed watching it.
настоящий объектив это SIGMA 18-35 F 1.2... kek
Oh yes! This is the camera-lens combo that I'd choose for best value for money. Nice colors!
Yeah it's quite hard to beat hey. Thanks man !!
6K Blackmagic Pocket just announced. Can't wait to see yall using one! Incredible footage and grade on this video! I like the way the Meike looks.
Haha I know, crazy stuff !! Glad you like it. I am very pleased with the Meike looks too.
Too bad the Meike lenses won't work on the 6K.
I know 😭
@@ekphotography WHy not?
Yeah, why doesnt it work for the 6k :(
Fantastic video! In the scene in which girl drinks coffee I was surprised with bokeh... Keep doing a great work! I love meike and bmpcc 4k combo.
Great selection of shots. Does a great job of demonstrating the lenses properties and strengths of the camera. Pretty impressed with the len in terms of sharpness, bokeh, and color. Really impressed with the camera's dynamic range and lowlight performance.
Thank you. Very impressed by the lens as well.
So excited to get this lens and the BMPCC tomorrow to use at my church (FedEx willing). Thanks for the breath-taking inspiration!
Thanks for watching and happy shooting !!
Lovely and Cinematic 👍🏻🎬
Thanks a lot :) !!
Totally stunning images, really great camera/lens combo love it
Thanks for sharing, have an awesome day 👍💯
Thank you so much !! Really is a great combo :)
Gorgeous!!
Thanks !!
LOVE this. Beautiful shots 👍
Thank you !!
You've done it again!
Haha thanks !!
Thank you for this demo it was exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks :)
really nice clips and nice decent lens too. Thanks for this
Thanks for watching :)
insane footage!!
Thanks !!
@@OfTwoLands I just ordered bmpcc 6k G2 I can't choose which is best one please suggest cine lens for G2
From India
Excellent! Question: When it comes to pulling focus/Rack Focus and MOST importantly "Staying in focus" other than your personal skills in pulling focus, in your opinion, What would you say is the sweet spot in terms of Aperture for this lens? t4, t5.6? etc
Just fantastic.
Thanks so much !!
This is so beautiful, you truly captured some good moments for great memories. What are your favorite usual ‘testing spots’? I would love to to go and shooting from there, thanks again for sharing.
So many times people want to demonstrate "cinematic footage" it is in slo-mo. When was the last time you watched a 2 hour slo-motion feature film?
this is so beautiful im going to cry now
Haha thanks !!
Gold.
Thanks !!
Beautiful work as always - I just picked up the Meike 12, I'm looking forward to using it! It's hard to go back after using proper cinema lenses
Thank you !! It is such a great lens.
Looks great ...nicely graded
Im sticking with native primes too for my bmpcc4k
Got the Meike 25mm to match my Veydra 16mm
Looking forward to getting the 12mm when it comes out this month
Thank you !! Yeah me too, sounds like a great combo.
How do you find the 2 brands compare? I'm in the market for the 25mm, but not sure whether to go Meike or go the extra mile and find a Veydra.
Hey! That was great! Thanks for uploading!
Thanks for watching :) !!
Very nice I watched it twice. I’m looking at getting the 16mm soon
Thank you !! :)
I got the 16 and had meike before it never disappoints the lenses feel so professional
They really do !!
Gorgeous video, thanks again for all you do. You own a c200, correct? Think I saw one on your kit site...
Thoughts on how the images compare between your bmpcc4k and the c200? I know usability is completely different for both, but I'd love your opinion on the images you get out of them.
Thank you for watching !! And yes I do own a C200 as well.
I was actually thinking of doing a video on that. I think they match up quite nicely and have used the Pocket as B cam for certain projects where the C200 was the A cam. I use the Canon for documentary work and interview etc and keep the Pocket for travel, gimbal work and video licensing. I would say the differences are mostly about the specs and type of camera more than the image. I do love the look of Super 35 sensor on the C200. Hope this answers your question a bit.
Surprisingly good guys! Beautiful colors and video 🙏🏼
Even though its around 50mm equivalent ..some of the shots seem wider? Is the location quite open?
Thank you so much !! Yes the location was open and I did find the lens to look wider then 50mm as well, I guess it is more of a 47mm after all and the aspect ratio probably helps too.
I heard that bmpcc4k has x1.9 crop, not x2.
Is that Bondi Beach? I'm from the states, but I've had the pleasure of visiting Bondi. Gorgeous.
It is :).
Great work.. 👏👏
Thanks !!
Best Meke shoot I've seen, really liked the coffee shop sound capture,,,,is that Bondi beach?
Thanks a lot !! Yes it is :)
The image looks so good!
Thanks so much !!
@@OfTwoLands Have you by any chance tried the SLR magic cine lens? I would like to know how does Meike compare to SLR magic.
This is amazing 👌, nice work.
I’ve just ordered my BMPCC but I’m gonna pair it with canon fd lenses, I really like the lens you shot with. I’m in need of a wide angle lens and the meike 16mm looks like a great option
After the summer Meike will release a 12 mm too.
Thanks a lot !! I will probably get the 16mm or 12mm at some point too :). I do love the FD lenses on the Pocket 4k though.
@@subwar1 Keen for that :) !!
Oh nice I would like to get the 12mm instead, thanks for the heads up
thanks been looking for a good video for this combo. great sample! footage at 00:12, it's so clean.
Thanks so much !!
Love your work! Keep it up!
Thanks man, means a lot !!
Thank, do you know where I can download a sample braw file with this setup?
thank you so much my next lens is it sharp at 2.2
Only the image look wise: how big is the difference between the Meike 25mm and Panasonic 12-35mm lenses in your opinion?
Great video! Watch out with stabilizing and horizon fixing; black bars @ 0:14
Is the color captured in your videos as it was shot or was there a lut added in post?
I grade from scratch using Filmconvert. I don't use luts :)
i can't figure which one to pick between the 16 and 25 maike cine lens, seeing your video the 25 looks pretty wide enough and still nice for close up. thx for sharing
Thanks for watching !! The ideal focal length would be 21mm I think :).
This looks really nice. Although the lens is not really that sharp. For instance at 1:23 and 1:45, the distant buildings look a bit blurry with the shadows looking a bit muddy. I have a Super Takumar 50 (or 55mm) that looks similar but it cleaner, but retains a dreamy look. I use it on BMPCC4k. The Super Takumar is under $100 when used, but it looks, in some ways, even nicer than my new Panasonic 12-35mm. The Takumar is not that sharp either, but it just looks pretty all the time.
Thanks !! RUclips compression doesn't help and I was probable shooting wide open but yes I know what you mean.I have heard great things about the Takumar and almost got one a few months ago and ended up with FD lenses since i own a canon 35mm film camera :)
@@OfTwoLands Yes, I was kind of shocked by how good the Takumar's are.
Beautiful! I have the 12mm and 25mm so far, now waiting for that 50mm to drop.
👁📷
How did you get the anamorphic look aspect ratio? And second question. Can you possibly do a tutorial on how you graded these shots. Your colors were amazing.
I shot with the guidelines and I cropped the image to match that ratio. Glad you like the colours, thank you !! I might do a quick tutorial, have quite a few videos planned already though haha !! I do have one already that I posted a few months ago.
I like the colors. How did you grade the shots? And did you use a Film Emulation Lut?
Thanks !! I graded in FCPX mainly with curves and saturation as well as Filmconvert for grain and a slight film emulation.
Great footage. If you had to choose a starter lens for your pocket 4k, would you go for this or the lumix 12-35?
Thank you !! I would still pick the 12-35. More versatile and it has IS as well. Plus it is also an active lens so it ‘talks’ to the camera.
Yes the 12-35 is very versatile I agree. The depth of field is not very shallow, so get a vintage m42 like a takumar to go with it and a m42 to m4t adapter, don’t need speedbooster. I did a parkour video mostly all on the 12-35. But will make the 4K version soon with the vintage also. 12-35 very good all round master and like two lands said it has the stabilisation. Must have lens for this camera!
Andrew Koutsou what takumar do u recommend?
thanks
You may have just sold me on this lens. Did you stabilize your footage at all in post or is it pretty much as shot?
Thanks so much !! I did stabilise a bit when shot at 24fps yeah. There were some micro shakes being nearly a 50mm equivalent but the rest is as shot or slow mo.
@@OfTwoLands Now with the ef version of the pocket 4k, what would be the ef equivalent of the meike lens?
@@Ben-id1tc Not usable on the 6K, it is EF mount.
So this is like a 50 on a full frame or a 30 on a crop sensor, right? Looks really nice to me.
Yeah pretty much :). Thanks !!
Simply breathtaking! I might very well purchase this lens but would I need an adapter for the bmcc4k?
Thank you !! No, it is a native MFT 👍
Wow thanks for your reply. Ah good to know. I'm a noob ☺
Did you notice any color aberration or fringing? I purchased the 16mm and 25mm from Amazon and it had wild fringing and was extremely soft. Not sure if I received a bad batch, but this video makes me wish I kept my 25mm!
Hey do you remember the ISO you used for the last shots that were dark ? I can't believe there's no grain!
Wow. I read that you used fcpx for grading those shots. So did you record in prores, right? I hope so since i hate daVinci even if braw is smaller that prores 🙁 Sry for my english I’m still learning
Beautiful film, as always from you! :)
It might be just me, but camera-wise I feel the new BMPCC 4K does not produce as ”soulful”, ”filmlike” or organic look as the original BMPCC. The old one had extraordinarily emotional color science, almost as with Arri Alexa series of cameras. Of course a lot is made in grading phase, but still - have others noticed this kind of more flat and soul-less look from the 4K version? Almost as if shot with Sony cameras.
Thank you !! It definitely doesn’t have the look of the original pocket but i wouldn’t say like Sony cameras haha. It’s more digital in some way but still very cinematic and ‘creamy’. With grading and a bit of grain you can get pretty close to the original pocket and in 4K.
I don’t agree with what you are you talking about. The original BMPCC was noisier than monkey sex.
i'm new to the film world. If i use a Meike 25mm on the Pocket 4k, do i have a focal length of 50mm, because of the crop factor?
Hi, I like the image quality
I am about buying this lens which one do you can recommend me the 25mm or 35mm for short films
stay away from Meike trash.. dont belive the hype..
@@mackjopah8894 what lenses would you recommend?
@@SergeyRosinskiy Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f1.7 is pretty awesome..Especially for the price but even if it cost a bit more.. itd be a great pick.. also they 14mm f2.5 lumix G is good for wide angle
beautiful, really like Meike glas on this camera
Thanks !! Such a great combo.
Nice
Thanks !!
I have all but decided this is going to be the way I go, you can get the 16 and 25 for about what you pay for a speed booster
If in your future abilities can you please test/review the Z-Cam E2 against the P4K. Using the Meike and other lenses you already own. I'd love to see your amazing color on that camera.
I wish I could but it is very unlikely that I will get my hands on the Z-Cam :(
Nice. Is there any crop on this lens on the BMP4K if you're not using a speed booster?
Thanks !! The crop is x1.9, which is standard for MFT (usually 2x i think).
I'm about to order the BMPCC4k and one of the things I have been struggling with is what lens to get it. I definitely wanted a Prime Cine lens but wasn't sure what to get. I have been eyeing the SLR Magic T/0.95 25mm but I'll wait until I can hear your review of this lens before making a choice. My question would be how sharp is the lens wide open at T/2.2?
That was the primary reason for me thinking about the SLR Magic lens is that while soft wide open, it is sharp from 1.2 and up.
Originally I had the Veydra lenses in mind then the SLR Magic since I like their lenses and the 25mm looked great. But then when Meike announced theirs I had to get one. The price is too good too. I found it to be sharp but not overly sharp wide open. I like soft lenses anyway but this one felt just right. Not too soft not too sharp. The built is really nice too and it was really fun to use.
@@m0lexey why?
1:07 ok pause I need coffee NOW
Haha best moment of day :) !!
aha best comment ever.
Wonderful thank you. Do you know rough camera settings to get such beautiful slow mo etc?
Beatiful video! Do you use nd filter + variable nd at The same time?
Thank you !! No, just one or the other.
nice!
Thanks !!
This might be a dumb question but can I use this on a Sony a6100? If not any alternatives????
Ohhh you got a Meike! I've been looking at those. Please talk about breathing, chromatic aberration, flares and specular highlights in your review. I wish you had a Voigtlander so you could compare.
I will keep these points in mind 👍 Haha i wish I had a Voigtlander too !!
Interesting, I have the Meike 25 T.2.2 as well but with the Fuji mount and your flares look much nicer than mine. Wonder why that is? :)
Haha not sure :)
I've heard that CA is very bad on this lens but rarely see it in your footage. Did you use DR to get rid of the CA or did you shoot f/4?
I noticed it only a few time when facing direct sunlight. I shot anything between 2.8 and 5.6 if I remember correctly.
Thanks for posting, I’m really tempted to get this lens after seeing this. As you are shooting in Australia is there a reason why you shot at 60 instead of 50? (which would have avoided the strobing in the phone box) I only ask because I have the same camera and haven’t done any slow motion yet and was wondering if there are any advantages shooting at 60 over 50?
Thanks !! I actually shoot 60 to get that extra bit which helps when slowing it down and also since I do a lot of footage licensing I usually shoot personal stuff on 60 and 23.98 since they are the format they need :). For interview or when lights are involved in Australia I shoot in 25/50 👍
Makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply.
How did you get such smooth handheld footage?
Not sure haha, I am used to shoot handheld :)
Hello mate, this is the lens I am about to get but I am not sure where to buy it in Australia/Sydney. Did you get in on Amazon? If yes which vendor. Thanks!
Hi man, I got mine from B&H and you can get it through amazon for sure.
Thanks. I might do the same, I always wanted to buy from B&H. Hopefully I will never have to return it :)
i bought the 12mm Meike non cine lens..f/2.8 and its was alright. i mean honestly thew image seems muddy as hell comparing to panasonic lumix g less expensive lenses.., but i was going to live with it until the focus ring just broke on it. i shipped it back to amazon, picked up a 14mm lumix G f/2.8 -cost a bit more but far cleaner image, i mean superb in comparison.. and i was wondering if the cine lens would be different(better image) and here it just look awful, about just as muddy as the non cine lens. i dont get why people like these, they are NOT SHARP..super soft
Are you thinking about upgrading to the new Pocket 6k?
Haha man I’m so torn. I don’t know what to do !! I own a lot of EF lenses and a C200 so it would make sense. But I love the bmpcc4k..
Lovely! What's the music?
Hey man, great work! Can I ask you what would be the conversion in the Pocket 4K with this lens in terms of field of view?
Just KarthiK Oh I thought the pocket 4K crop factor does matter here but good to know!
You still need to apply crop factor of course: 25mm x1.9 (bmpcc4k crop) = 47.5mm FOV equivalente... but a 25mm is always a 25mm just like any lens length, it doesn’t change because of the crop factors. 😉
Jorge De Silva Official thank you so much!
@@lrave17 Welcome :)
1:00 mmm best moment)
Haha thanks !!
Did you crop for 2:35.1 or is it a different aspect ratio?
I shot with the guidelines and yes I cropped the image to match that ratio.
i really love your videos! where do you get your music from?
Thanks a lot !! I use Artlist for RUclips and sometimes musicbed especially for Vimeo.
@@OfTwoLands thanks a lot! Very good music choice
Did you use an adapter for your Meike Lens? If so, which one?
It is a native MFT lens :)
Was it slow moded?
Where is this beautiful place?
Bondi, Sydney :)
@@OfTwoLands got it. Other planet.
would you recommend investing in canon fd lenses or a sigma 18-35
They are both different options. FD lenses will give you a specific look but the Sigma (with adapter) will give you versatility and maybe a better shooting experience due to the lens' built and focal range.
Which lenses do you like better out of these or the Contax?
Quite different and both amazing but I have a soft spot for the Contax :).
Did you use a speed booster
Powers Benzo Coaching No :)
I would love to get a set of these Meike Cine Lenses but that T2.2 on a M4/3 censor just isn't enough for my taste and kind of shooting :/
Haha you mean not fast enough and not enough depth of field ? What is your kind of shooting ?
Of Two Lands yea not enough depth of field separation with foreground and background (in my opinion) and not enough light for dimmly lit gyms which are my usual shooting environment.
Do you think the 16mm is better than the 25mm?
?
Which better 25mm or 16 mm?
I haven't used both sorry.
Whats your record settings ??
this is real 25mm or just a equivalent mft sensor that has X2 Crop factor?
It would pretty much be a 50mm full frame equivalent :).
Where is this beautiful beach?
Bondi. Sydney :)
Is this a manual focus lens ? How did you keep the focus on your wife?
Is it possible for to make a whole movie with this one lens?
I guess you could, why not :).
@@OfTwoLands sorry if my questions sound bad I'm a novice getting into filmmaking. What aspect ratio is this? It looks wider than movie aspect ratio 2:35:1
What aspect ratio is the output in?
2.35:1
i have the 25mm f1.8 cheapest version of meike :D
Nice !! How do you like it ?
@@OfTwoLands really. But new for me. I have lumix 12-35 and some vintage lens. Now this meike i think one of my favourite. Nice bokeh, close focus distance, smooth manual focus. Soon i will do stuffs. Already have some but just paid work. Cant uploda :(
Hi, at what framerate did you film this please ?
Hi, a mix of 23.98 and 60p :)
