  • Longer time-lapse of tonight's 'City' aurora visible from Baldwin, about 8 miles East from downtown Pittsburgh, and across the Mon River due south of Oakland. The neighborhood lights were a pita! (and the occasional car driving by didn't help,, lol). For the most part, this was a photographic aurora, only a few times was I able to see the glow with my naked-eye. My friends tell me that further north in the country it was spectacular! I'm just happy I was able to see any of the aurora thru the Pittsburgh skyglow.
You can watch me scramble setting up the cameras, then the aurora powering thru the area lights. Watch the bright star Capella in the constellation of Auriga rise, then later the even brighter planet Jupiter.
Video taken using a ZWO ASI224MC camera and fisheye lens in a DIY dome controlled by Sharpcap. Auto Exposure (up to 4.5 seconds) & gain, one frame captured about every 15 to 30 seconds. (7:36pm to 2:05am, ~ 750 frames )
