The biggest twist of this movie is that it did not have a twist villain. It would have been so easy to turn one of the protagonist's relative into a villain.
Steve especially, he feels almost intentionally designed to be a twist villain, and it would have been so easy to have a climax that was like, him showing up to stop Arthur from delivering the present and being like "We're gonna do Christmas MY way because it's the RIGHT way!" But they don't and that's honestly really refreshing.
This movie is a true gem and more people need to know about it. I partly blame their first teaser ad where it was just Arthur being a goof around a polar bear. I love protaganists where every character around them has petty/pent up dramas and frustrations, while MCs main motivation is to just maximize happiness. They still have flaws and moments of humanity of course, but seeing a storys moral focus be everyone sorting through their baggage and finding their own happiness at the end because of having the protaganist in their life is special to me.

One thing I’ll definitely remember about this film is the fact that there was a cover of Santa Claus is coming to town done by Justin Bieber made for it, now if that’s not sign of this being product of 2011, then I don’t know what is .
In fairness I think that cover was on his Christmas album (which had just come out at the time), so it was likely a way to promote the album. Still, I would’ve been turned off by that had I had an interest in seeing this movie
The reason I think Arthur Christmas is the best Christmas movie; in 9 out of 10 Christmas movies when Christmas is in danger it’s in danger for ALL kids. In Arthur, one girl’s Christmas is in jeopardy and it’s treated with the same gravity as if it were all of them. The takeaway becomes that it doesn’t matter how or who, if every single child doesn’t have the magic of Christmas then we have all failed. Arthur Christmas is a 10/10 movie
The art style was a little off-putting at first, but MAN, it had the perfect balance. The animation was fast-paced and had a lot going on, but it never felt overwhelming. I didn't know Aardman had anything to do with it.
The art style is why I didn't watch it as a kid, I was very picky about how animation looked back then. So I guess I can be blamed for the movie bombing
This film is ridiculously underappreciated, the music especially is wonderful, no other Christmas film in recent memory has made me truly feel in the Christmas spirit like Arthur Christmas does, and I’m more than happy my dad especially loves to put it on every holiday season since I saw it with him back in 2011.
I love Arthur Christmas. I didn't see it in theaters, but I've been watching it on TV for years. It's such a sweet and heartfelt movie. Arthur himself is so endearing and genuine with his desire to deliver the present. It would have been incredibly easy to make Steve, Santa or Grand Santa into more traditional villains wanting to take over Christmas. The fact that they don't really helps to make the premise stand out more. They all want to show that their methods of celebrating Christmas is the best one. It also makes the resolution at the end even better. It is such a great Christmas movie and learning more about the production history made it more interesting too.

I didn’t know this film was under properly of Aardman. They loved it and so did I like genuine Christmas movie.
It'll be full circle after Disney says "Screw Aardman" after trying to collab with them (and since Aardman did a Star Wars Visions short then I guess we're halfway there)
One thing i love about this movie is how unrecognizeable their VA to how we usually hear from them. Like they actually try voice acting then just put their normal voice in a cartoon character. I mean James McAvoy voice a character that clumsy, kind, and happy go lucky character which isn't type character we saw for McAvoy.
